Pros: Small!, Inexpensive, Stylish, 20GB, Doubles as Virtual Drive, 2.2" Screen, Easy Interface Cons: Tech Support, Screen is a little dull
As a gadget freak, an Archos fan, and just a lover of all great budget things to have I bought the XS200 as soon as it came out (This thing just shipped, this is totally new technology here). I'm thrilled with it. For it's price tag, there is NO ...
Pros: A solid no frills mp3 player with lots of storage space in a tiny body. Cons: UI is a bit difficult to figure out. Joystick is a pain to use.
Got my xs200 about a week ago for $220 total. As other reviews have suggested, it's a solid mp3 player with no extra features; it is well worth its price. Packaging: that was the hardest to open package i've ever come across. Took 10 minutes, a pair ...
Pros: Small size/weight, awesome price, HUGE HD, minimalism done just right. Cons: Green and grayscale "old Palm" interface icons and backlight. Very delicate metal casing dings easily.
***UPDATED June 05****** As a music freak, I have amassed quite a collection of Mp3s over the years. Although I had been eyeing the iPod for some time, I made do with a smaller flash-based player, mainly because I love to head to the gym with it, and ...
Pros: very small size, easy to use, very reliable Cons: the supplied ear buds are just average.
This is one very nice little machine. Very easy to load, very easy to use. I just plug it into my computer and it looks like just another 20 Gig drive. I create folders on the Gmini and then drag and drop mp3 files from My Music folders. What could ...
Pros: Size, design, interface, charge via USB Cons: Slow browing times, limit on library/databse size, terrible support
I have now had this device for about two weeks. Some of the comments below are updated. The biggest problem is that the internal database which allows for browing by artist, genre, or year only catalogs 5000 songs. This is an issue becuase I use 64kbps ...
Pros: Simple interface, great performance, ridiculously low price, good sound quality, mass storage compliant, incredible size. Cons: Average battery life, no ogg or flac support, no recording capabilities
I've been searching for a hard disk DAP for a couple of years now, and have used a few, and owned 2. My first was a Creative Zen Xtra, which was huge, flaky, and had an annoying software interface. When I decided to try to find something to replace it, ...
A first month with a Gmini XS202S by Zeledi ,Mar 15 '06
Pros: - Got was I was looking for
- Standard USB cable
- Standard 5V connector Cons: - Somehow slow
- Navigation improvable
What I was looking for:
- Neither driver nor software to install. A fully USB UMS compliant (Universal Mass Storage) device. Plug and play.
- Capatious storage, at least 20GB.
- WMA support to gain an extra 20GB with regards to MP3
- Below 350 Euro
- Small and silent
- Large display for ID3 details
Room for improvements:
- Songs navigation, that 4 ways buttons is terrible.
- Shuffle play within all subsets
- Vastly quicker playlist generation and saving
- A USB2 files transfer speed closer to larger external HD
That must be one of the first CPU based device I own which neither have a reset button nor a way to remove the battery. It would have been handy a couple of times. Shutting down the device must be done gently as if you try to go to fast, it freezes.
Nonetheless to the question "Would I buy it again next month?" I still will answer "Yes, definitely."
Uncomplicated controls make this smartlooking, solid Mp3 up there with the best. I bought a leather case to protect the machines satin finish metal casing which has kept it perfect. The supplied headphones are not the best or the worst but its worth investing in a decent pair to appreciate the great sound punched out by this player.
Good idea, almost ready for release by marco2001 ,Jun 10 '05
Pros: I'm hoping they will sell a leather case soon. Cons: I'd wait for the next software upgrade.
The size is perfect, music is crystal clear, storage is amazing and it's easy to use. The downside is that the software has a few bugs. When it jumps from one song to the next, it sometimes says it is unable to play the second song due to an invalid format. It I manually select the next song, it works fine.
Pros: Size, price, ease of use, HD size. Cons: earphones get different ones, no carrying case.
Purchased this as a Christmas present...to myself:) Paid $219.00 (including shipping). When it arrived I spent 1/2 hour open the @$#$% clamshell. Plugged it in to charge and within three hour the player was ready to go. Downloaded my entire music library (11 gigs) and was off and listening. The earphones sound OK but you can't move around much or they'll fall out (had to purchase different earphones, the Shure E2c for $60 which still comes out cheaper than the iPod 20 gig and it's the size of an iPod Mini!!!). The sound is great, very easy to use browser. Can shuffle a folder or the entire music library. I have so much space to spare that I use it as a portable HD. The USB 2.0 connection rocks! You can download a gig before you can say "conformity sucks!"
Pros: small, low price, high capacity, great value, USB 2.0 Cons: interface needs some tweaks
I picked up the gmini xs200 3 weeks ago and I'm loving it. It's smaller than the ipod mini and it's cheaper than the 20GB ipod. My only complaints are the interface as it is not entirely intuitive. However, it only took me 5 minutes of looking at the manual to figure out what I needed to do and once you've learned the interace it becomes a non-issue. They also put out updates for the software regularly so hopefully the interface will continue to improve. If you're looking for an alternative to those pricey ipods look no further. It also doesn't require you to have a firewire card as it uses USB 2.0 which is surprisingly fast. I'm extremely pleased with it.
XS200 Great MP3 Player from Archos would be awsome with FM Tuner in-built by net_shopper ,Dec 08 '04
Pros: Very Compact, Light weight, HUGE 20GB storage at around $200 Cons: NO FM Tuner, Battery Life
Finally there's a great, very small MP3 player with HUGE 20GB storage.sound is great.very stylish user friendly. It would've been awsome if they've built FM Tuner in XS200
Great price too. I bought at $249 but now its available from $203 onwards.I haven't needed tech support yet though I wish if battery lasts lil longer..
