Pros: soulful, young, fresh, relaxing Cons: Have to be in the mood to listen to
As far as music goes, I pretty much am open to anything. I have gone through phases in my life where certain genres appealed to me more than others because of what I was going through at the time. Now in my life I like music that makes me forget about my ...

Pros: Good music to listen to for a change! Cons: I have nothing bad to say about this CD.
I was skeptical at first because of the title of CD – Bible Belt and how young Diane Birch looked on the front of the CD. Looks are deceiving and I was pleasantly surprised at what I heard. If you like the Blues, Folk, Gospel, pop, with a ...

Wow

Pros: Soulful, earthy Cons: None
This is her first CD but you cannot tell. To me, she sounds like an old favorite! Diane wrote the music herself, and she writes like a pro. The music is very relatable and some of the songs are haunting. Her music stays with you for a long time, but in a good way! There are several ways to describe her music-smooth, soulful, easy listening, raw, stripped, earthy, simple, and unique. You can really feel her energy, and feel what she was thinking when she wrote her lyrics. Among other things, this CD would be perfect for a day at the beach with a good book. My favorite song is Ariel-it just stays with me! Her sound is similar to Carly Simon, but a modern version. I foresee a long and successful music career for Diane!

Great Album - Definitely check this one out!
by crazeypoet ,Jun 08 '09
Pros: Great, unique sound. Wonderful from beginning to end. Cons: People who don't like the artists I listed, might not like this.
This is a fantastic album. Written entirely by Diane Birch, Bible Belt has a mellow, bluesy feel reminiscent of the likes of Carole King, Carly Simon, Duffy, Adele and Norah Jones all rolled into one. Diane doesn't sound like a copycat though. She sounds really authentic. Diane was born in Michigan but grew up with her preacher father moving around between Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia and finally settling down in Oregon. I love the sound of this record. Diane's childhood definitely shaped the sound of the album. It doesn't fit in one neat genre box. The melodies are really wonderful and inviting. I would definitely recommend this one. Perfect for these pre-summer days and nights!
