Fine for little spills if you have an extra power outlet

by Macharoni , Jul 04 '00
Pros: It works when it has power, right size for small spills
Cons: Battery life, hard to clean
My fiancee bought this for some reason. I think it is because we already have a Big Green and a Hoover SteamVac, and she just had to try another one.

All of the other reviews have already described in excellent detail how to operate the...

Like buying a little slice of peace of mind pie

by m0thrgoose , May 05 '00
Pros: Gets out most stains fairly easily, portable and easy to use
Cons: Battery life lacking; tends to leak for a bit after use.
Not long ago we rented an apartment that has brand new carpet. I moved in with my same ole messy husband, toddler daughter and 2 cats; one of whom deposits hairballs on this brand new carpet quite regularly. I had been eyeballing the spot lifter for a...

Wonderful for Pets

by hbomb , Feb 10 '00
Pros: Light, compact, excellent cleaner
Cons: Bad battery life, can't use plugged in, a bit hard to clean
After getting my beagle (the devil dog is pictured in my profile) it was quickly obvious I needed to get some kind of cleaning device or my rugs would be destroyed in no time. So I went down to the Price Club where I saw this little guy for only $30 and...

You got WHAT on my carpet??

by TiggerOh , May 27 '00
Pros: lightweight, compact, good suction, easy to fill and empty
Cons: Battery has a VERY short life, must have unit on to spray cleaning solution which uses battery time.
I bought my Bissell Hand-Held Spot Lifter with the idea that since I have a small apartment, I didn't need a big carpet cleaning machine. Well, boy, was I disappointed to find out when reading the owner's manual that the battery on this thing only lasts...

A valuable tool!

by murphydog77 , Jul 30 '01
Pros: gets out stains and picks up liquid quickly
Cons: solution tank is small
Having a dog and a small child can make for messy carpets sometimes. We bought the Bissell Spot Lifter because cleaning up stains in the carpet with just a spray stain remover wasn’t working.

Finding a spot to hang the cleaner up while...

For $29 you can't be without it!

by karen01 , Dec 12 '01
Pros: Great lil' sucker!!!
Cons: Can't use on A/C. Short battery life.
I purchased my Spot Lifter just last week. I'll spare you the very gory details of how I decided to buy one but it does involve a nasal hemorrage that ruined my house to the tune of $4,000 and took enough blood out of me to bring my BP down to 90 over...

Doesn't hold up to a toddler

by mommynew , May 06 '00
Pros: Sucks up liquid
Cons: Charge time, no "scrubbing" ability, awkward
I have a 15 month old and it's amazing how quick she can make a spot on the carpet. Nothing like broccoli ground into the carpet :-)

Rather than continuing to rent a steam cleaner I thought I'd buy the Spot Lifter to keep on top of spots and...

Dogs 1, Cleaner 0

by cuckoo , Oct 25 '00
Pros: lightweight, easy to measure solution, doesn't leak
Cons: Short run time, battery has limited number of recharges.
My wife and I received the spot lifter as a gift a little over a year ago. We had been looking for something lightweight that would help save our carpet from two old dogs that leak.
After hearing its praises sung by a friend, we were quite eager to...

Bissell Spot Lifter - Finally bought one, thank God!

by Bankrott , Feb 24 '00
Pros: Does the job it is intended for
Cons: short charge, small cleaning solution tank
Having two dogs, a cat and three kids under 6 years of age in the house makes for a pretty spotty carpet... After seeing the Spot Lifter advertised for over a year and the price not dropping, I broke down and bought one about three weeks ago.

Away we go stains

by puppydawgz , Mar 02 '00
Pros: Great cleaning job
Cons: Charge only lasts 5 minutes then takes 12 hours to recharge.
I bought this little machine because I have 4 dogs that live inside. I have the big steam cleaner that you have to connect to the faucet but it is too much of a pain just for a small spot.

It is small and lightweight, and a pretty green color....

Portability VS Functionality

by wathomas , Jul 21 '01
Pros: It's Cordless
Cons: It's Cordless (And it's NICAD!!!!)
UPDATE 7-25-02: RIP BISSELL. THE UNIT DIED? WHY? THE NICAD BATTERIES FINALLY GAVE UP DUE TO MEMORY EFFECT. YOU SEE, YOU RARELY USE THE ENTIRE BATTERY LIFE WHEN DOING A CLEANUP, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, IT'S NOT ENOUGH FOR TWO CLEANUPS. SO WHAT HAPPENS?...

Good Hand Steamer - For Some But Not All

by AtlantaGreg Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 28 '01
Pros: Small size. Easy to tote around in areas where electric cords cannot reach.
Cons: VERY short battery life. No rotating brushes. Not very powerful suction.
I've owned the Bissell Spot Lifter for a little over a year now, having bought it when it was a new item on the market (and more $$).

THE GOOD

This is a good sized machine, and very easy to tote around. You can reach areas that may...

Spotlifter - vs - Spot Scrubber (updated 1/24/03)

by Kiske , Nov 10 '00
Pros: Portability, Ease of Use, Ease of Cleanup
Cons: Small Battery
My family of 2 adults, 2 kids under 5 and 2 cats (with hairball problems) is very, very hard on carpets. If you've ever spilled a couple of drinks or cleaned up a cat puke mess you'll know what I mean. And we won't even go into the messes a potty...

The Bissell Spot Lifter is a good tool to prevent stains

by bigolaf , Jan 18 '00
Pros: easy to set-up, use and clean. compact, gets the job done superbly when with the right cleaning product. Pricey but worth it
Cons: runs out of power in 5 minutes, takes about 8 hours to charge, will not work well on old stains, needs a larger tank for cleaning fluid mixture.
Overall, I have been happy with my Bissell spot lifter. It has prevented new stains in our home for about 6 months now. It does the job well on any new spills that most certainly will become stains. However, it does have a few drawbacks, but I...

Regret not buying the next size up

by magoo5 , Jul 18 '00
Pros: Powerful, hangs on the wall conveniently
Cons: The battery just doesn't last long enough
I purchased this product because I have three kids, two cats and a dog. Enough said.

I had just spot cleaned my dining chair cushions with a spray cleaner and a scrub brush. I had snagged the fabric with the brush and made the decision to...
