I bought this in April of 2003 and used it about twice a week until January 2004 when it just stopped working. The Oster I owned before I bought the Black and Decker lasted 5 years. I wouldn't ever buy this rice cooker again, pay a little more and get one that will last.

Pros: Made excellent rice every time. It was a regularly used appliance in our kitchen.
Cons: The non-stick surface didn't last very long. It was very difficult to clean.

We received this for our wedding in 2000 and it just broke now. So it lasted about 5 years. We thought it made very good rice and used it at least once a week. The only complaint we have is that the bowl was very difficult to clean. The rice stuck to the bowl and we had to let the bowl soak for a few hours and then scrub it before it went in the dishwasher.
