Pros: Good fit, quality, and support. Cons: Expensive.
I'm a big-boned guy and I like to run. In the past I suffered from Plantar's Fascitis and my arches are very low and I over-pronate. A high-end running store (Marathon Sports in Cambridge, MA) salesman recommended the Beast after measuring and examining ...

Pros: If you run and suffer from overpronation, there's no better shoe Cons: As of April 2009, there are two models of this shoe available.
Be mindful of the model and price you wind up paying for this shoe.Search for the Beast on the Brooks website and you'll find two entries. One is listed as model 1100271d at $84, and the other, model 1100521D at $130. The shoe being sold at ...

Unleash your inner BEAST!
by p14001 ,Mar 31 '06
Pros: Stability, great for large, pronating runners. Cost is reasonable. Cons: A little heavy, but not too bad for a training shoe.
I started running last year when I signed up for a marathon. Great idea, right?
Anyhow, I had some cheap running shoes that were probably the wrong size and ran into some foot problems pretty quick. I decided to go to a specialty running store and get measured, have them watch me run and recommend a shoe. They recommended the Brooks Beast for my large (6'1", 190 lbs) frame and slight pronation. I had run through one pair (about 400 miles) and broken in a 2nd by race day. All in all I would highly recommend this shoe. It is solid, has good cushioning and energy return and keeps the foot stable.
Ran well on streets and trails and served me well on race day.
Recently moved to the Brooks Adrenaline to save a little weight - but the Beast was a GREAT shoe to start my running habit on.

Brooks Beast
by aal727 ,Sep 05 '06
Pros: Stable, Excellent cushion and shock absorption, controls pronation Cons: Expensive, slightly bulky
I'm on my third set of Brooks Beast running shoes. This shoe has a specific purpose and isn't for everyone.
Even the Brooks website asks a number of question prior to recommending a specific shoe. I tend to pronate and after an ACL reconstruction I needed a shoe that had great stability and also controlled pronation. This Beast accomplishes this perfectly and is the Cadillac of the fleet.
The shoe seems a bit bulkier than others but its cushion is excellent and the shock absorption gives my knees a much needed break.
Individual needs obviously differ. Before buying this shoe I recommend checking the Brooks website. It will direct you to the best shoe for your specific needs.
