Pros: Special experience, meaningful toy instead of dust-gatherer, high quality, limitless personalization possibilities Cons: Noisy, can be overstimulating, can also be quite addictive!
The first time I saw the Build-a-Bear Workshop was when it opened at our local mall. After a brief walk-through, I decided that paying that much for a stuffed animal was ridiculous. After all, you could get fully clothed stuffed animals for a fraction ...

Pros: Very fun, lots of variety to choose from, not just for children, friendly staff. Cons: If you can't control yourself, it can be expensive.
In several shopping centers across America there is a special little place that isn't just a stuffed toy store. It is a place where anyone, young and old, can build their very own teddy bear from the inside out, and The Build A Bear Stuffed Bear...

Pros: They are durable, fun, cute and have great staff! Cons: Price.
The first time I saw a Build-a-Bear was at our local mall...and of course my daughter's eyeballs went right over to the store like any child's would walking past that store. Of course we had to stop in and see what all the fuss was about. I couldn't see ...

Pros: The kids get to do everything themselves. Cons: There can be a long wait.
After lots and lots of begging we finally took our kids to Build-A-Bear. This is a really neat store.
When you first go in you have to pick which animal you want. The majority of them are bears, but they do have bunnies, dogs, cats, a cow, a...

Pros: always fun no matter ho wmany times you've done it, great personalized gift Cons: addictive
The excitement of a child makes this so worth it, a child somehow bonds more, loves more, something they can take pride in having helped create. I just got back from making bears # 18 and #19 at the Grand Opening of our very own Build-A-Bear store. I ...

Pros: Fun, great for all ages Cons: None
The Build a Bear Workshop store is one of the cutest stores to take your kids. I don't find it to be geared toward any gender. Of course you will see more girls then boys there. But they carry some thing for every one which I like. The best part about it ...

Pros: unique, fun, adorable toys Cons: the wardrobe can cost you
UPDATE 6/30/05 (originally published 8/16/00 ) Teddibar is STILL Emily's favorite toy. The bear is in excellent shape, not quite as fluffy as it used to be, but surprisingly cuddly as ever. No toy has lasted this long in my house! UPDATE ...

Pros: A lot of fun, get a custom stuffed creation for someone that you love Cons: Can be expensive to accessorize your creation
I first went into a Build a Bear a few years ago. It was a bit macabre... the skins of teddy bears lined bins waiting for their future owners (or gift-givers) to come and stuff them. It was a weird twist on a taxidermist. I was surprised I didn't see ...

While site seeing in St. Louis, MO a friend and I stopped in at the local mall to browse with our children. This is when we came across the Build the Bear Workshop. As we looked at the store front we saw many customers exiting with cardboard...

Pros: Cute, cuddly, good for all ages, you can put sound in your bear Cons: Takes a long time to get it in the store
Let me start off with my first visit to Build-A-Bear Workshop (I went twice): I went there, looked around, and there were a whole bunch of different bears. There was also a giraffe, a frog, and a cow. Well, as I looked around I finally saw the perfect ...

Pros: fun, hands-on, affordable, friendly staff Cons: may take a long time if the lines are long
I had the pleasure of being a Master Bear Builder at the Build-A-Bear workshop in Indianapolis, Indiana. Yes, I did it all. I stuffed, I stitched, and I dressed bear after bear after bear. But, what can I say? It is all worth it seeing the smiles on...

Pros: Tons of fun to create your own stuffed toy! Cons: The cost might be a little much for some.
Build-A-Bear Workshop is an unconventional toy store where kids of all ages can make their own stuffed toys. They offer 24 or so (new ones pop up here & there, especially for holidays) animals to choose from in sizes ranging from 10 inches to about...

Pros: FUN, Reasonable prices, Lots to choose from Cons: Not enough store locations!
I'm hooked. I discovered the magic of the Build-A-Bear Workshop after a friend told me about them. The closest store was only about an hour away from me, so my husband and I packed up the kids on a Sunday and trekked off to the mall for an...
