Pros: Crisp, clear highs and lows; small size, big sound; Won't break the bank. Cons: Lots of cables, "brick" power supply.
I purchased these speakers about 2 years ago as a replacement for Cambridge SoundWorks' previous model, the CSW PCWorks (essentially the same, but with 2 satellite cubes instead of 4.)
Pros: Outstanding stereo imaging and general sound reproduction; good bass reinforcement for gaming Cons: Not quite 5.1 when you are watching movies--ultimate sound quality depends on soundcard
I dunno if it was mis-marked, but these were sitting on the shelf at WalMart for $44... How could I not buy these?? I've upgraded my soundcard from an ancient *original* SoundBlasterAWE32--you know the one with the 30pin SIMM slots? It did well for...
Pros: Great Sound, Easy Setup, Great Price Cons: No Center Channel or Dolby Digital Connection
These speakers retailed for $99 dollars when I first started looking at them, so when I caught a sale for $79 dollars I knew it was time to buy. I had read many favorable reviews, and since I had installed a new SoundBlaster Live! card, it was time to...
Pros: Impressive sound quality, very good subwoofer, extremely convenient volume control, comes with stands, great price Cons: Cables are too short, stands are too easy to knock over
It's hard to talk about these little wonders without gushing about how nicely they do their job. Some serious thought went into their design, and it shows. They are the best computer speakers I have ever owned.
Pros: Cheap, small satellites, OK bass, plenty of cable run, integrate excellently. Cons: Sub woofer shakes the desk & can't reach the real low stuff.
As I write this I am actually testing the SoundWorks system, and so its one of the easier reviews to write. As I listen to my rock music, the satellites seem fairly clear and capable to produce the dense sounds well.
Pros: Great value, handy volume control. Cons: Is for those on a BUDGET; it will not match up to more hefty sets like the FPS2000, among others.
This is a great set of speakers! For the price of below $100, which is in the bargain basement, you get 3D positional audio and the great sound you would expect in higher-end speakers.
Once you open the package, you see the satellites. Wow,...
Pros: Great Sound, Small price; Nice placement of volume controls; Did I mention price?; Good documentation Cons: Unshielded wires sometimes pick up radio stations; Speaker stands are a bit on the short side;
I recently purchased a new computer and instead of going with the little throwaway speakers you usually get, I decided to get a quality sound system. A little short on cash, I took a look at my options, which turned out to be very few. I wished I had a...
Pros: Low cost! - should cost more, Excellent quality, Extremely small.. Cons: No independent volume for front / rear levels, Rear speakers stands could be a bit more durable..
IF you think your going to shake a wall down with these low cost units your wrong. This sub / satellite system will deliver very balanced sound if your using this as secondary speaker set-up for game sound or DVD movie watching for your PC.
Pros: Sound, Price, Installation Cons: Not a digital system
The 3D sound out of these four small, cube-shaped speakers and block subwoofer is simply astounding! Having owned these speakers for almost a year I can honestly say your ears will hear every note from any software package with clarity and with deep...
Pros: Good sound, lotsa bass, 4.1 surround Cons: flaky volume control, distorts at high volume, crappy rear speaker stands
When I bought my new system last year, I figured that I'd try to get the best stuff that I could afford at the time. I had my eye on Cambridge's 5.1 Dolby Surround speakers, but they were out of my price range (by about $150). So I settled for...
Pros: Good sound, easy setup, go well with the Soundblaster Live! family of soundcards. Cons: Lots of cables, superseded by the six speaker surround 5.1 systems (with center speaker added)
Hold it ! Before you people start flaming me about the price I put up for this system let me explain how I came by it:
I was once again browsing through the bargain offers in the computer section of my local supermarket during the sales period...
These have to be some of the best speakers I have ever used! There is nothing like having surround sound at the PC. I play a TON of games. These speakers are wonderful. It is really hard to say anything bad about them. For instance, if you couple them...
Pros: Great Sound, Great Price Cons: Lousy speaker stands, obtrusive volume control
All I have to say about these speakers are "WOW"! This is one of the best buys on computer speakers I have found. There are some problems, but they are small, and I will get to them later.
