Pros: Feature rich, 6 megapixel resolution, lens interchageability, reasonable price
Cons: See A few concerns below
A little more than two years ago Canon introduced the first reasonably priced digital SLR, the EOS D30. Unlike most of the other digital cameras on the market the D30 was built around a CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) imager. CMOS...
My first digital SLR was a Canon EOS D30. It was at this point that I fell in love with digital. Images coming off the D30 were velvety smooth and printed to very large sizes with little or no loss in quality.
Pros: Beautiful smooooth color, great battery life, well constructed. Cons: ETTL is not very good.
AF could be better but is better than expected.
I've been using my D60 for almost 2 years ... and I still love it. Pictures are of top quality and there are no shooting situations that I have not been unable to get a good shot. There has been some criticism about the AF on this camera and it's ...
Pros: high megapixels, fixed some of the problems with the d30 Cons: still expensive, few bugs
This camera rocks what can I say. The big brother of the Canon D30 3 megapixel camera. Uses the same batterys the d30 uses which is good since they are so long lasting and seem to be very good on battery life and rechargeable.
Compact flash cards...
Pros: Very smooth images, virtually noise-free at ASA 100. Cons: Sensor speed limit of 1000 makes low light shots a challenge.
With the announcements at Photokina 2002 from Kodak, Canon and Sigma, you might be wondering why spend $2000 for a camera that has a sensor smaller than full-frame? I'll tell you why I think you shouldn't wait:
Pros: Insane resolution, Manual or Full-Auto, virtually noiseless CMOS sensor, beautiful (small) LCD, well-constructed Cons: Limited availability, hard to sleep with it under my pillow
Had the great fortune to finally find and purchase this incredible beauty. I'd been waiting for the "some day" release of the Sigma SD9, when my need to upgrade from my old Sony Mavica 91 finally overwhelmed my patience - newborn babies grow too quickly...
Pros: Cost/Features ratio. Well constructed. 6 Megapixels! Cons: not water resistant like D1. Focus a little slow in dim light
I have owned a Canon D30 and now a D60. I have about $20K in lenses and have used the camera for many purposes. Indoor/outdoor, macro, flash, studio, sport, nature, live shots, etc.
It is truly amazing what these camera's can do. I won't...
Excellent DSLR for amateur/new pros by saaketham1 ,Sep 21 '04
Pros: Solidly built, lots of advanced features, noise-free virtually, fast, SLR Cons: Heavy, only 1 zoom in playback mode, continuous drive not fast enough for sports
This and the 10D were really big sellers and earners for Canon - for good reason. It has all the functionality an amateur or a new pro wants in a DSLR. It's heavy, but well-built. Uses Canon's famous silky-smooth image-producing sensor. Very well equipped! I love it! I don't think I'll outgrow the D60 anytime soon since I'm just an amateur and not a pro. Pros looking for a sub-1500 camera should definitely look at the new Canon 20D.
D60's are not made anymore, but several are sold every day on eBay and http://www.fredmiranda.com forums. I got mine from the latter site and have taken lots of very satisfying photos with it.
Bought a D60, but I have also a G2 n there is a whole world of difference between these 2 cameras.I've 2 problems with my D60, low light condition shots, n the images NOT vivid viewing on my PC monitor.
It is a wonderful camera, it is the "landing on the moon" step for digital photography. I have alot of fun delivering top notch photos to my clients, in an instant, which means I get paid faster. The abitlity to see and judge my picture on the spot has raised the bar on my creativity. Very proud of this Canon D60.
This is my first pro digital SLR so far so good and they have Improved since the D30. Much faster A/F speeds I tried the D30 and did not like it in Low light this camera is much improved. It is up to canons best standards in build and fit and finish. I am loving the fact I can see and correct on the sopt. I can also make large prints like 20X30 and they are tack sharp like large print film. You will love this camera. Its not like film you need to rethink when shooting digital less flash is better. Good luck and cant wait for the D90. 20X30 shot in RAW mode with canon L glass.
The photo quality is outstanding.... by aggie_dt3000 ,Feb 09 '03
The photo quality is outstanding. I don't have to use it in raw mode because photos can be blown up past 16 x20 in a jpg mode. So we are able to show our proofs right there on the spot on a laptop or print them out. I am extremely happy with this camera.
