Pros: Image quality, file size, speed, low power consumption, low light performance. Cons: Almost none, the slower flash sync/arena lighting is rub, but there are workarounds.
I've been using the new Mark II since they were first available. My newspaper was early in the switch from Nikon to Canon and often are among the first to receive the new equipment. Previously we were shooting the original Eos 1D, a camera I dearly ...
Pros: Great AF.
Great JPEG quality.
Fast shutter.
Good image write speed. Cons: A little heavy.
The camera will spoil you.
I've used this camera now for well over 1 year. As a photographer for a newspaper, this camera is just perfect. The speed of the AF is terrific, and it shoots at just over 8 fps. Battery life isn't perfect (I had a D30 before this, and that seemed ...
Pros: speed speed detail noise handling ergonomics image quality EOS lenses batteries Cons: price Requires RAW data for acceptable image quality
I have had this thing for 1 month and WOW. Coming from the 1D, I was use to fast but nothing like this. The 1D Mk II sets the new high performance level for DSLRs and is the first to be a universal use digital camera. Its 8.5 fps, low noise, high ...
Pros: Image quality
low noise at high ISO
Fully configurable JPEG compression
ISO from 100-3200 Cons: no magnify in playback
a little bulky
banding at high ISO
price
no video out
The Canon EOS-1D is canons first Digital SLR camera since the EOS-D2000. The 1D is built into the body of their popular EOS-1v film camera. It features a 4 megapixel sensor. *Features* -Magnesium body, environmentally sealed, based on EOS-1V ...
Pros: High quality body; excellent power management; large images, 8.5 fps. Cons: Weight; initial investment.
In May 2004, I upgraded from a Canon 10D to this Mark II in hopes of larger file sizes, more accurate lens performance and the almost 9 fps that Canon boasted. What I got was all that and more. The high speed shutter has allowed me to capture not ...
Pros: Fast like 1D, CMOS pricing and power consumption. Cons: Maybe just its general unavailability. Ok, 8.2MP is great, but 12MP would be super great.
This is going to be a short review - for now. I had an opportunity to play around with one for the afternoon on a event shoot. If you've ever worked with a Canon 1D, you're not going to miss it much if you're lucky enough to get your hands on the Mark ...
Pros: Superfast autofocus, 9 point spot metering, user control, built like a tank Cons: proprietary batteries, cost, so so canon software
I've been a working pro for 25 years and this is one of the best cameras I've ever used. It's built like a tank, has a blazing fast (8 fps) autofocus system and offers the user tremendous control through its variety of user configurable options.
...
Pros: solid professionally built, true workhorse Cons: bad batterys bad batterys low megapixels
This is the 1v in digital form. Amazingly built camera probably the most waterproof and drop proof cameras ever.
This camera is solid and fast.
Amazingly fast.
frames per sond were unbeleivabel and with the new lexar cards they are...
Pros: 8 fps. Great raw images. Built like a tank. Cons: It bricked within a couple of months. It weighs as much as a tank.
I bought mine back in November of '05. After getting familiar with it I took it to my first shoot. Some of the pictures were way underexposed shooting in P-mode, which really surprised me. The EXIF data was crazy with exposure settings of f/22 at 1/8000 second. Being new I attributed it to the loose screw behind the viewfinder. After that the camera worked flawlessly for two months, taking many excellent pictures. The 8 fps shutter is to die for shooting hunter-jumper and equestrian competitions.
Frame up my next shot, click, look at the preview... all dark. Shoot again, all dark. Switch to Av-mode and set it for f/2.8 and shoot. All dark. Look at the exposure data and it had switched to f/22 and 1/8000 second again. Tried Tv-mode and got the same results. Only in M-mode could I get a decent exposure. I tried different lenses, cleaned the electronic contacts, and still got the same results. So it's off to Canon for warranty repair.

I'v used several other digetal cameras at work. But when they gave me the canon EOS-1D its great since I'm used to SLR cameras it's wonderful to use very easy. Right now the only thing that stands in the way of me and that camera is the price is just a little high. But all and all it's very easy to use takes great pictures. And lets me pick and chose which ones I want to keep. I've been shooting with Canon products for a long time now and this is one great camera. Move over photo lab and say hello to the futer. Thanks Aaron.....
Having shot with the D60,... by jrpugh_dt3000 ,Mar 07 '03
Having shot with the D60, 6mp was a wonderful thing but the limitation imposed on wide angle lens' was pretty severe at 1.6 and the D60 is not rated as a "pro" level camera. The 1Ds, delivers in all areas. If you are a sports or action photographer, consider the 1D at 8fps and 4mp. Improvements with the colorspace control compared to the D60 are great, the metering is phenom and the 45pt focus is a dream. Can I recommend this camera for any serious pro? I sold my Mamiya 645AF and don't have any regrets. Not for the Novice and not for the Professional without a good digital post processing capability.
