Good buy for shooting pics of kids and pets
by mac4cy ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: Good quality, reasonable price, great for taking pictures of things that wont sit still Cons: Several seconds between pictures in dark settings
We bought this camera to take pictures of a two year old and our dog. We liked that there is a kid/pets setting that you can set it to. It takes fast pictures without being blurry. Picture quality is good. Easy to use features and takes nice video clips.

Great Camera
by jayceesue ,Jul 05 '06
Pros: compact size, photo quality, easy to use Cons: Time to be ready after flash is used
I had a Canon A520 that I just upgraded to the A540 and it takes amazing shots. I take tons of photos both of people and when I travel and this camera takes great photos! I took photos of the fireworks on the 4th of July and they look professional! Would highly recommend it!

Experience with the Powershot Camera
by protechideas ,Apr 17 '08
Pros: Nice design and clarity, battery life is good Cons: May be complicated to figure out at first, possible distortions with moving images.
It took me a while to find out how to use it but after it was fun to work with. When the camera is still, it can take amazing photographs. It can have distortions in the pictures, but not a bad camera at all. Battery life is moderate, would recommend to use rechargable batteries if taking hundreds of pictures monthly. Plain batteries may not work with this model. Nice design and was worth spending $220 for, was easy to transfer photos and have multiple formats for good, better, or superb quality. Have taken over 7000 photos, recharged about 12-18 times, not too savy.

Buyer beware
by sailors4 ,Nov 30 '07
Pros: Good color rendition when the camera worked...which wasn't for long. Cons: Very poor battery life. Product failed completely and Canon would not honor warranty.
Had problems with this camera almost right from the start. First, it would only take about 15-20 pictures before indicating that batteries were low. After a few months use, the camera would power up but would not take a picture when the shutter release was depressed. Sent the camera to Canon factory warranty service center. After having the camera for about 2 weeks, they informed me that there was "white liquid" in the camera, stating that it appeared the camera may have been dropped in salt water. The camera has never been out of my possession, and has never been misused in any way whatsoever. My experience is that Canon's warranty isn't worth the price of the paper it's printed on. I am out $200 for a camera that didn't even last a year. It will be the last purchase of ANY Canon product that I will ever make. Ever.
