Pros: Price, 20x zoom, 28mm wide angle, solid build, features, face detection, battery life, resolution Cons: Uses 4 AA batteries, heavier than Panasonic
Mega-zoom cameras (cameras that have 10x optical zoom or over) are fun. Before digital mega-zoom cameras were available, you would have to buy and, not less important, carry around a bunch of lenses and a camera body to be able to get to 10x ...
Pros: Great zoom Fast flash recovery Cons: too large for my wife's hands and too cumbersome for our daily use.
I just loved the features in this camera but there's just one reason why I must reject it.Canon PowerShot EnthusiastsOver the years my wife and I have owned a few Canon PowerShot cameras including the Canon, PowerShot A 400, (the ...
Pros: Huge 20X Zoom, Great movies, Great resolution (10 MP), good battery life, Large view window. Cons: Lens cover, Manual Flash.
This is our second Canon Powershot IS camera. We had the S1 IS and loved it. Canon has a great upgrade program and we went to the SX10 IS - We were amazed at the improvements and additional features. This camera has a HUGE 20X optical zoom. We love ...
Pros: Good ergonomics. Lots o' settings. Bigtime optical zoom Cons: Ineffective red-eye reduction. Have to manually raise flash. Memory card not included?
I don't know what Canon's deal is but this is our 2nd Canon mid-range camera with a red-eye reduction feature that is completely useless. It simply doesn't work. I actually sent our last one in for repair because I thought the feature was ...
The Canon I've been waiting for! by grimmts ,Dec 17 '08
Pros: Wide angle to super 20x zoom Swivel LCD Easy to use menus/features Beautiful picture quality Cons: A tad heavy, but a lot lighter than a DSLR with the same zoom capability
Got this camera almost as soon as it came out, and I LOVE it! I've had the S2 IS for 3 years and have been pretty happy with it. Tried the Panasonic FZ18 on a trip to Alaska and was disappointed. I missed the swivel LCD screen and ability to zoom in movie mode, so I returned the Panasonic. The wide to super zoom feature is amazing. They've rearranged the buttons a bit and features are easier to use. Plus, I don't accidentally hit the "menu" button every time I pick it up, which happened all the time on the S2 IS. The lens cap on the S2 IS was annoying, and this one drives me crazy because I have to find the two spots to push in to release it, and sometimes when I'm shooting wildlife, it delays the shot. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say about this camera. The battery situation doesn't bother me, because my S2 IS had the same 4 rechargeables. They seem to last longer in the SX10 IS than my S2 IS. This is a fantastic camera! Beats lugging around a DSLR and lenses, plus you can take movies.
Warning about taking photo during movie! by pepprmint ,May 11 '09
Pros: Zoom length Quality of images Numerous features for creative photographers Cons: Movies interrupted with sound and image (and ruined!) by taking photos during recording!
During video recording you can also take a photo - the best of both worlds, right? NOT! My first experience with this feature was at my son's graduation ceremony. When I got home and watched the movie clips the "snapshot" taken during the movie caused the video to pause, blank out the audio and add a "shutter sound clip" to the video each time a photo was taken during the video recording! All the photos turned out blurry because I had slowly panned the camera during the video as he walked across the stage. I should have used my Sony DVD camera which doesn't interrupt the movie with the snapshots. Canon - you are smarter than that and should be ashamed!!!
