Pros: Well built and looks nice. Cons: Expensive, weak coffee, sloppy pouring.
I have been a coffee snob for about 20 years, only drinking premium coffees such as Peets, Gevalia, Melitta and Starbucks, almost always grinding my beans with a $150 burr grinder. After 12 years of using a non-thermal Krups coffee maker, I wanted to ...

Pros: Best tasting coffee, Looks beautiful on the kitchen counter Cons: Hard to read water level indicator.
Actually, I don't drink coffee, I just love its smell. I'm quoting my partner, whom I bought the coffee maker for on his birthday. We've had it for a year with no problems.
This product brews the coffee in a slightly different manner than...

Pros: Easy to use. Coffee is piping hot and tastes wonderful! Cons: Limited availability in walk in stores.
I have been looking for a machine just like this. I have gone through so many at home coffee machines looking for that "coffee shop" taste to no avail. Even those bought at the "coffee shop" just did not meet the standards I was looking for. After ...

Pros: Nice design features Cons: Fatal flaws you shouldn't have for the price.
The design is beautiful. Surface is smart and very easy to clean. The water resevoir top is wide making it a snap to refill. The design feature of stainless heating element is nice here in Florida where our mineral content is high and build up can ...

Pros: Excellent hot coffee.
Water filter.
Good manual.
Easy to use.
Excellent carafe.
Pretty! Cons: 3-5 cup selector=watery coffee.
Not easy to clean.
This coffee maker is pretty, oh so pretty (bling factor! all it needs are some spinnies.. lol). It also makes hot, delicious coffee that keeps its temperature for hours. No, really, it does keep the coffee hot for hours... after a 10 hour day of work, ...

Pros: Makes excellent coffee, keeps coffee warm for long enough Cons: The carafe lid is a hassle to use
This is a good, solid thermal carafe coffee maker that has lasted about 3 years so far. It makes great coffee. The thermal carafe keeps coffee warm enough for long enough for me to enjoy it all morning without the coffee tasting 'old.' Although the ...

Pros: Great-tasting coffee. Thermal carafe doesn't burn the coffee to oblivion on a hot-plate. Cons: If anything goes wrong during the brewing process, you have a mess to clean up.
I'm very picky about my coffee, and prefer that it taste in the cup the way coffee smells as it's being ground. I used to think that the only ways of experiencing this level of coffee flavor was to hand-drip it through a Chemex funnel or to go to a ...

Pros: Solid construction, clean layout, and it brews super hot coffee. Cons: Price.
I have owned about seven different coffee makers and none of them compares to the Capresso MT500. I was tired of burnt coffee, carafes that spill when you pour, and cheap construction. The price of the MT500 may be steep, however, the coffee it brews...

Pros: Keeps coffee hot, easy to use and clean Cons: none
This was a great purchase. I have been looking for a good drip coffeemaker for a long time. This is it. The only worry that I really had was how long the coffee stayed hot in the thermos; so I will pass on my little test.

Pros: Thermal carafe
Easy to clean gold filter
Best tasting coffee Cons: So long as you are careful about placing the carafe, there are no cons
We have used this coffee maker at least once daily for more than four years and are about to order a new one because the whole machine is showing its age. It makes excellent coffee and we have no hesitation about buying another. Having grown up ...

I like it
by topdown ,Feb 25 '04
Pros: coffee flavor; ease of use Cons: slow pour carafe
My wife forced me to trash my 19 year old Melitta coffee maker. There was nothing wrong with it, it treated me well, I resisted. So she bought the MT500 as a gift. I'm enjoying the new based on:
1. Features
- the Thermol carafe is a great idea. If you're still using an old glass carafe with heat pad its time to upgrade. The coffee stays fresh tasting longer. I sure hope you're not using the heat pad to reheat coffee.
- My old machine didn't have a drip stop for removal of the carafe while brewing (19years ago must have been an upgrade)
- Program brew time and I'm actually using the feature! Never thought I would. Set the clock once and just hit Auto the night before, coffee waiting for me in the morning.
2. Taste
Coffee is noticeable strong and better than my old machine.
3. Design
Not just the looks, but also the user interface - very easy to read water level.

capresso mt500 with s.s. carafe
by nubster02 ,Feb 05 '04
Pros: looks, quality workmanship, outstanding coffee, brewing speed. Cons: a little pricey!
after having problems with almost every coffee maker we have purchased over the last 5 years i am happy to say that this unit has been truly great!!! it makes great very hot coffee, and stays hot in the carafe. i'm not sure it stays as hot (for 4 hours) as they say it does. the coffee is so good it does not last 4 hours. i don't want to sound like a sales person but this unit is really great. i purchased a krups with s.s. carafe first got it home, and it seemed kind of cheap made then i tried to run water through it the first time. it leaked all over the place. after retunring it to the store i upgraded to the capresso, and what a joy! now understand i have never paid more then $80. for a coffee maker in my life. i can say that i think this unit is worth it. with the quality of the product, and great coffee it produces..

MT500 great coffee but at an unacceptable temperature
by mcbillyl ,Nov 12 '06
Pros: Excellent flavor, easy to use, easy to buy replacement parts Cons: Luke warm coffee immediately after brewing.
I just bought an MT 500. I love the flavor of the coffee but immediately after the brewing the coffee is luke warm at best. I find myself brewing the coffee, pouring it into a cup and then microwaving it. I don't use milk or cream but if I did add something cold, the temperature of the coffee would be undrinkable. I find it easy to use, though if you dont line everything up perfectly you will have a mess to clean up. I find clean up easy and making the coffee is easy. You also have to double the number of cups you want to make because their serving size is way to small for a typical morning coffee drinker. The system allows you to pour a cup of coffee in the middle of the brewing cycle and that works well- especially if you are in a rush.

I would give it to Good Will, but I have a conscience. Ready to trash.
by ednajean ,Jan 23 '04
Pros: It has a small batch feature, which is nice. Otherwise, I can't think of any. Cons: Water filter system makes the coffee taste like something from 3-mile island. Carafe overflows, yuk.
After six months or so, if you don't position the carafe just right, it overflows. I began using a magnifying glass to look at the carafe/brewer connection to see if drips were coming out. If they were, I had to turn the carafe's position to prevent that, which is annoying at six in the morning. The first disappointment, however, was that the water filter made the coffee taste awful. After getting a "we don't believe you" response from the company, I abandoned the filter system, buying spring water instead. Then the overflow problem began, unfixable by any technique of cleaning or of reliable positioning. At this price--in fact, at any price--this product stinks.
