Pros: Battery life, interface, features, built in extras Cons: Touch pad sometimes annoying, battery life less than advertised, and hum in mic recordings.
I have been using the Creative Zen Micro for about 7 months now (I bought it around the time it came out), and I would have to say it has been one of the best music experiences I have ever had. I’m not one of these reviewers that sits down with it and ...
Pros: Small, easy to use, excellent sound quality, removable battery, radio/voice recorder Cons: Touchpad may need getting used to (tips inside!), headphone-jack has a small chance of loosening
I guess it all started with those white headphones, really. You see them everywhere; dangling out of pockets, looped around necks, or more often blasting music into ears everywhere. From five-year-olds to grandmothers to celebrities to that guy on the ...
Pros: Great feature set in a lightweight, reliable little unit; lots of options for user customizations. Cons: Nothing especially irritating, but always room for improvement.
What I like about the Zen Micro: (These are just the features I personally like; there are more that I don't particularly use so I won't list them all here in order to save time and space.) • The 5GB storage capacity. I actually questioned ...
Pros: Superior sound quality; replaceable battery; compact size; good reputation of Creative Technology, LTD Cons: touch pad is, well, a little "touchy"....(but you *will* get the hang of it!)
I made the decision to purchase the Zen Micro 5 GB primarily because it was on the list of players compatible with Napster's new "Napster To Go" service. I must say that with only a few little snags....I'm quite satisfied! The first "issue" I ...
Pros: Sleek, Different, easy to navigate and synch, great sound quality, included earbuds servicable Cons: Expect learning curve on the touch pad, extremely brief instructions, spotty FM reception
I purchased the Zen Micro through Wal Marts' on line store for $208.00. + 3 yr. extended warranty ($43.00.) The way I see it is I'm covered pretty well for any potential freeze-ups, or total failures for three years. i chose this product over the I-Pod ...
Pros: Decent player with good memory, price, battery life, size and menu structure. Cons: MUST charge it properly the 1st time or battery goes dead. But that's common sense.
The zen micro is a solid and likeable music player, it does what it says on the tin, or if you live in a first world country; 'the box'. It plays most of your music collection, if not all if you are a faddy music buyer who just buys singles because their ...
Pros: Music quality, appearance, FM Radio feature Cons: Hard to use interface, cheap plastic clip, battery life, value for the price.
I bought the Zen about 2 months ago to listen to audio books and my large collection of mp3 music. I bought the Zen because of the Creative Labs reputation, and the large 5GB amount of space. What a waste of money! I am not happy with it because of ...
Pros: Great color screen; compact; tons of extras Cons: None, really
I love my Zen. It's compact, durable, holds more songs than I knew existed and has tons of extras, such as day planner, voice recorder, radio. I actually don't really use these extra options. I just use it for mp3s.
I once dropped it in a parking lot, and though it got a scratch on the outside plastic, it still worked just fine.
Pros: Easy to navigate, good capacity for the price. Cons: A permanent "Hardware Failure" after 4 months of occasional use is not acceptable.
While it worked, this was a decent enough MP3 player. Yes, like most reviewers note the touchpad is far from perfect, and the battery life is closer to 5 than 12 hours, but other than that it was fine. It was easy to navigate, the sound was good (better with better earphones), and the capacity was fine for the price. But after 4 months of occasional use, it froze up with a permanent "Hardware Failure" on the screen. Because it is beyond the 90 day labor warranty Creative wants $25 to look at it. I suppose they will replace it when I return it.
I bought the Zen last Christmas for my wife. It was used sparingly until last month. It has now locked up and they want $40 to look at it. This problem seems quite common from looking at the forums on their website.
Pros: Glow, colors, great for PCs, removable battery, easy to use, cheaper that Mini. Cons: Battery life is "iffy",
The Zen Micro is a great alternative to the Apple iPod Mini, its versatile, pretty, useful, and works great. I've have had the Zen Micro (Silver, 5gb) for 6 months now, and I haven't had any problems with it. But I hear that abuse and strain on the headphone jack by moving the plug a lot can damage the player, so have it repaired if there are any problems with the headphone jack before you have to pay for it by yourself.
Pros: Many features, size & choice of colors. Cons: Earphone port may malfunction.
This MP3 player has many features: FM radio & recorder, voice recorder, and MS Outlook-based applications. It's also smaller than any Ipod. Good sound quality and it "breathes" while it recharges. The touch strip takes awhile to get used to, but it's not that bad. My one complaint is that after using it during my commute to work, the earphone port seems to be deteriorating. The plug has to be in perfect position to work properly.
Great product- for a while by komplexq ,Aug 13 '05
Pros: Sound, features, UI, size, color variety, fm, voice recorder Cons: Durability, no games- if ur a gamer
I chose to the many features accompanied with the Zen Micro over the storage capacity when making the choice against an Ipod. After 7 months I'm now doubtful about whether I made the right decision. The sound quality is still excellent, but the earphones jack is faulty, and very annoying trying to find the perfect angle at which the music will play. It appears to be a normal defect with the Micro's wear and tear. I'm now considering the Ipod...
My experience - not so good by huggybug ,Dec 04 '05
Pros: Fits nicely in hand. Better than iPod Mini in this regard. Cons: See review
When I first got this product I couldn't wait to try it. I tried to install the software on my computer, and crash. Tried again, crash. After much searching on the support forums, there seems to be a conflict when QuickTime or iTunes is installed. I installed the software on a computer without iTunes and it was fine. However, the software is very bulky and slow.
On to the unit. One of the buttons on my touchpad isn't working well. Many times, I have to press really hard to get it to work. That's not very good for a touchpad. Also, the unit locks up often when connecting it to a computer. It won't even turn off. I have to take out the battery and reset it to get it to work. The FM radio is horrible, even worse than the one built into my computer. When I first got the unit, but after upgrading the firmware, song would occasionally skip. I haven't had this problem lately. I've been experiencing about 4 hours of battery life even though 12 hours is advertised.
a great alternative to the ipod mini by theafro ,Oct 24 '05
Pros: great looks
high sound quality
all touch
large hardrive Cons: shakey battery life occasionaly
touch pad can be tricky
does not support folders
The creative zen micro is definately the best alternative to the ipod mini.
I purchased my Creative zen micro almost a year ago now,and I have nothing but praise for the mp3 player.I had been long debating the idea of purchasing an mp3 player, but the frightening variety of products almost scared me into jumping onto the bandwagon and purchasing an ipod. Almost. Luckily, a quick search online revealed that the choice was obvious, not ipod. Apart from it's elegant sense of style, the Zen has several obvious features that make it,to put it simply, better then the ipod. A better sound quality ( full specs can be found on creative's site, www.creative.com) longer battery life, which, shakey as it may be, holds out longer then ipod. While the zen may have some imperfect features,( the touch pad can take getting used to, and the battery life varies,) it is on the whole, the smart choice.
