Classic style, classic taste.
by comet202 ,Dec 22 '04
Pros: Stylish, makes good coffee, and simple to clean. Cons: Terrable place to pour the water, and the lcd doesn't look right.
My wife bought me this for Christmas a couple years ago (it's 2004 now). It's been my counter top buddy ever since. At least a 5 pots a week since I got it.
The place you pour the water in can be difficult to get to, but other than that, it's been perfect.
The LCD for the clock, looks out of place, and is hard to read at * O'clock in the morning.

Great but not perfect
by jserrat ,Jul 18 '05
Pros: GREAT brewing, built-in water filter, timer, auto shut-off and sleek modern looks. Cons: Carafe lid has no hinge; and it has an ungainly water measurement system.
This Cuisinart model brews a great cup of coffee and I liked several features: built-in water filter, perfect brew temp, timer, auto shut-off and looks. On the negative side, I didn't like the carafe lid (snap-on, no hinge), and the difficulty of measuring the water as you add it. Instead of an external water level indicator, this Cuisinart has one built into the water well. However, the well opening is SO small that it's nearly impossible to read... USELESS! The small well opening also makes it tricky to add water... you a good steady aim or you'll have water everywhere. On the whole, I wouldn't buy it again which is too bad because it looks SO nice and brews very well.

Very good machine for 3 years and then it died
by dylanfly ,Aug 17 '09
Pros: adjustable warmth warming plate, great looks, durable carafe Cons: No longer working after 3 years.
I say "very good," as opposed to great, but this machine produced many a pot of great coffee. I love how the warmer plate is adjustable. I loved the way it looked in the kitchen, how easy it was to clean, how it was easy to load, easy to use. I suppose I expected a tad more for over a hundred dollars, but I don't want to complain too much. I thought, "well I overpaid for this thing," but "at least it will last for years."
Unfortunately, it broke down after three years. This was unacceptable to me, particularly at the price. I see on Amazon.com that countless reviewers have had theirs die. So weigh the rosy reviews against the many of us who have had ours die.

An Almost Outstanding Coffee Maker
by conexpert1 ,Mar 25 '04
Pros: Features, Convenience, Coffee Quality, Compactness are all Excellent qualities of this coffee maker. Cons: Water loading is inconvenient. Machine has to be dragged across counter top to load water
We've had many coffee makers, all the brands, but this is the best in most categories. Great coffee, fairly quickly, gets a 9.5 overall (out of a 10 scale rating).
You've heard all the features, etc., what you haven't heard is the water filling procedure is still same as that used in the 1960's - I can't believe it!!!
The Black and Decker front water loader is by far the most convenient ever invented, bar none. Cuisinart needs to pay them for their registered copyrights to copy this small, but necessary feature. Its a real pain-in-the-donkey to DRAG my shiny Cuisinart coffee machine way out to the edge of my counter, like everyone else in the country, just to pour the water in. Look at all the scrape marks on my laminate counter top!!!! So, like the carpenter says, just cut it and nail it and...just do it. Fix the cave man water loading procedure!!!

Not Recommended
by cch978 ,Jan 10 '07
Pros: Looks good, but that's it. Cons: Just about everything but the appearance.
After owning a Mr. Coffee model for several years with few problems, I received a DCC-1200 Brew Master by Cuisinart as a gift. Straight out of the box it began brewing before it was turned on--as soon as water was poured in it heated and began spewing out, without any switches being turned on for brewing. After this, it refused to do anything else. Even when properly filled and programmed, it does nothing. Light shows power, all is set, and nothing. It's a charming product. Telephoned customer service and the extremely rude representatives told me to mail it back--at my expense?? Would not recommend this product to anyone. Buyers beware.

I love my coffee maker.
by amomof2dogs ,Sep 22 '05
Pros: Nice styling, makes good coffee, adjustable heat setting. Cons: none
I have had this coffee maker for just about a year now. I purchased this product to replace another product. The timer function is easy to program and use. I like that I can brew a smaller pot of coffee when necessary. The variable heat setting lets you customize the hold temperature of the coffee. The water filter is easy to change and improves the flavour of the coffee. I like the styling of the product. The auto shut off feature is a great convenience. The permanent cone filter eliminates the need to buy paper liners and is easy to clean. The lid fits the pot well and the pour spout does not drip or dribble when you pour.

A fine brew
by dgsverona ,Jul 11 '05
Pros: Makes great tasting coffee Cons: No outside fill indicator, too easy to spill when filling.
Definitely notice that this coffee maker delivers a finer quality of coffee taste compared to the lower cost everyday systems. A good fresh ground brew tastes like it came from a high quality restaurant. It's worth the extra cost - shop around for sales or a low price on eBay.

Great coffeemaker
by jpnewq ,Feb 03 '08
Pros: Brews really hot coffee, brews it well Cons: A bit awkward to pour in the water
We've had this coffeemaker for about a month and love it! My husband drinks caffeinated and I drink decaf, so we make separate, smaller pots most of the time. It has a very nice feature for these smaller pots by making the water hotter as it brews; when you set the warming plate on high, it really keeps the coffee hot.
The Cuisinart also has a permanent filter; my husband likes it but I use paper filters, because I don't like the oily grit it leaves behind in the bottom of the cup. It also needs less coffee than our former Bunn coffeemaker.
There is a pretty small opening on the top right corner for pouring in the water that's kind of awkward to use, but I find that to be a quibble.
Hopefully it will last because we are really happy with it so far.

I LOVE THIS COFFEE MAKER
by debjwhe ,Aug 13 '09
Pros: Brews a great cup of coffee and it looks good on my kitchen counter top. Cons: Water reservoir opening is a bit small, therefore it was a bit difficult to find.
This coffee maker brews a great cup of hot coffee, and it keeps it hot until it shuts off. I like the look of the black chrome, I love the fact that the carafe doesn't drip when I pour coffee, and I like the little beeps it gives before it turns itself off.

Cuisinart 12-Cup Brew Central - Works great!
by hammer432 ,Oct 19 '06
Pros: Makes great coffee, looks good, well designed. Cons: If anything maybe a small water fill opening, but no big deal.
I finally found a coffee maker that works perfectly. I have had some bad luck on my last few coffee makers, but this one is a keeper. It makes great coffee, it looks good, no water leaks, no grinds in coffee carafe, and as other have said it pours well.

Competitors Jealous! Disregard Negative feedback
by gajaw999 ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: Easy to use, sleek, stylish, good tasting hot coffee Cons: clock face too small and dim-- needs to be larger
I have had this coffeemaker for 4 months now after my Braun broke after 10 years. I thought I would never find another one like it, but actually this model is much better! Get the black matte finish so that fingerprints aren't a problem-- and it looks better too. Carafe lid took a few minutes to figure out, but no big deal. No grounds in the reservoir, no leaking, no problems-- just makes a great cup of coffee. If I had one suggestion it would be to make the clock face larger and easier to read. Other than that, buy this coffeemaker-- you will love it! Some of the negative reviews I see here sound weird-- maybe competitors trying to steer people away.

Don't buy a Cuisinart DCC-1200 Coffeemaker!
by eric_blair ,Jul 23 '06
Pros: Attractive, makes acceptable coffee. Cons: After the three year warranty is over, if it breaks throw it out!
I purchased a Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffeemaker in October 2001 from Cuisinart online for $100. It just stopped working (July 2006). There is no information on their Web site on where or how to get it repaired so I sent them an email requesting that information. I promptly received a reply that Cuisinart does not have parts for the DCC-1200, nor do they repair the coffeemaker. In other words after the three-year warranty just toss it in the trash if it stops working!
Based on this experience, I'd say to avoid ANY Cusinart product. since it appears that during the warranty period the'll replace the unit. After that, if it breaks throw it out.

Adequate yet frustrating
by sonoman ,Oct 14 '07
Pros: Attractive, timer. Cons: A gamble every day, no visible reservoir.
I bought this about a year ago and finally decided to put the word out...
I spent literally 2 months shopping for a coffee maker and finally settled on this one after reading the reviews, both good and bad. It was attractive and had most of the desired functions.
When it works, it's fine, even though I'm not too thrilled with having to measure the amount of water needed in the pot first - and then pour. A clear reservoir window on the side of the unit would eliminate this step.
The kicker for me, however, is that I wake up every morning not knowing if the coffee will peacefully drip through the filter into the pot or back up and explode grinds inside the basket area. I figure it should be a simple matter of making sure the basket and filter are sitting properly inside the unit, and the pot is sitting properly - but this apparently provides no guarantee of success. I've had to clean grinds out of the water reservoir more times than I care to think about.
Making coffee should be effortless, not a daily visit to a casino.
Back to shopping, I'm afraid.

Great Coffee
by gateway1982 ,Dec 17 '07
Pros: Great coffee! Cons: Too much noise & tough to clean.
My boyfriend makes me coffee from this machine every morning. It's very consistant and makes very good coffee. I love the feature that allows you to set it for a specific time to come on in the morning. One of the biggest problems I have is the amount of noise it makes when it's grinding the beans. Also, it is somewhat difficult to clean. My guy usually does the cleaning of the machine too and I worry that he might not be cleaning all of the small parts...euuhh! When he does clean the machine it seems he takes the whole thing apart and makes a mess with all the grounds. However, we purchased the machine to save money on Starbucks coffee we used to purchase every morning. It's a great substitute. It paid for itself in less than a month! I think it's a great machine for a good price. Just wish it were easier to clean and it made less noise when grinding the beans (it even wakes me up)!
