Another vote of absolute confidence!
by nymjk ,Dec 20 '05
Pros: Good design both in looks and function Cons: Uh, none (hey, it's a required entry).
Cuisinart has done it again! This unit has survived all of the defects that we've found in a steady succession of coffee makers over the past 5 or 6 years. Let's see: (1) the carafe doesn't leak out the sides of the spout virtually no matter HOW fast, in a fevered pitch to get your caffeine fix, you pour; (2) speaking of the carafe, this one has survived for a WHOLE YEAR (the wife, killer of many, many simply CANNOT seem to find a way to break this one); (3) while it is true that the water well is somewhat difficult to fill, simply LOOK DOWN and you will see the water level ladder (just remember to pour one cup more than you desire as the grounds will absorb a full cup, trust me). The rest, aesthetics and such, is subjective; suffice it to say that we (read: she) love it.

Almost perfect
by jwilpub ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: pot pours very well, coffee tastes great Cons: water reservoir extremely awkward
After having owned a bunch of coffee makers we are getting very fussy and actually ordered this one on the Internet by mistake. Since my husband had already unpacked it and run water through it we kept it although we shouldn't have. In the past we have been quite satisfied with any Cuisinart we have ever owned but this one has one big flaw -- the water reservoir. We think the coffee tastes great, the pot is generously sized and pours perfectly, but determining if you have the right amount of water in the reservoir is almost impossible. Perhaps if we were over 6 ft. tall it wouldn't be such a big deal, or if we always want to measure it with the pot. Unfortunately frequently we like to make a fresh pot even though there is still a little coffee left in the pot. Because of this we have already replaced it with a Krups which has all the right features but doesn't seem to make as good coffee and is almost impossible to pour without dripping.

Problems when brewing cycle completes
by aipo16t ,Feb 22 '08
Pros: good coffee Cons: turns itself off once the coffee completes the brewing cycle
I just recently started to have problems when brewing cycle completes. The unit turns itself off and will not come back on. Normally you can wait 15 minutes or so, and turn back on. Then it will stay on for what ever cycle time you programed. I have had this coffee maker for approx 2 years. I never expected this to happen. When I call the 1-800 number for assistance, the girl I spoke to had no positive information that could help me correct this issue.

Great coffee, great machine
by sewmom1 ,Jan 25 '07
Pros: Good hot coffee, less coffee grinds needed to make a good cup. Cons: The cord is a little short
After only 1 1/2 years my Aroma Grande just stopped working. Since I had a 2 year warranty with Starbucks, I tried to get another one but it's not made anymore. Starbucks exchanged it for the DeLonghi 10 cup. Horrible machine, the coffee is warm at best and cold with milk added. I returned that and went on a quest. We HAVE to have at least a 12-cup coffee maker and the reviews on the Cuisinart DCC-1200 looked great. This machine makes a GREAT cup of coffee and the temperature is good and hot. I love the 1 - 4 cup feature too. I use a separate thermal carafe to put the coffee in after our initial cups, but since the warmer has temperature control the coffee doesn't taste burned either. I would highly recommend this machine.

CUISINART DCC 1200 COFFEE MAKER
by bill684 ,Jan 08 '05
Pros: A GOOD LOOKING COFFEEMAKER THAT FITS NICELY IN MY KITCHEN. Cons: BASKET MUST BE PLACED PRECISELY OR LID REMAINS PARTLY OPEN; CARAFE DITTO;
hAD THIS COFFEE MAKER LESS THAN A YEAR AND NEVER REALLY SATISFIED WITH THE COFFEE IT PRODUCED.
NOW THE PUMP SEEMS TO HAVE FAILED AS IT JUST SITS THERE AND STEAMS THE WATER AWAY WITH NEVER ANY MORE THAN A 1/4 INCH OF BREW IN THE CARAFE. DOES N0T SEEM TO BE ANY WAY TO DISMANTLE
IT AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL COFFEE MAKERS ARE THROWAWAYS. AT THIS PRICE, I'VE LEARNED A HARD LESSON.

One of the Best!
by basement ,Sep 30 '07
Pros: looks good. Easy to operate. hot coffee. No drip spout. No leaks! Cons: Clock does not light up. Nice, but not important.
I love my coffee every morning and have been through several makes/models over time. This one has been the closest to the 'perfect' coffee maker. Frivilous complaints in my book. All worth adjusting to to get a good hot cup of java!!

Cuisinart DCC-1200w Coffee Maker
by deosgood ,Aug 28 '08
Pros: Looks good. Cons: Broke down in a year and half. MADE IN CHINA.
Doesnt last for the money. MADE IN CHINA. No wonder it only lasted a year and a half. I paid 90.00 for this coffee maker. If i would of spent and extra 20.00 bucks on a Bunn or Krupz made in the good ol'USA i wouldnt of had to go and spend it anyway in the end.

Not worth the money
by bsoft ,Jan 07 '08
Pros: Looks great. Makes OK coffee. Cons: VERY expensive and not practical.
Bought this machine a few years back and still can't believe people are talking about it in such a positive way on this site.
To start with, you must completely take off the cover of the carafe to fill it, no flip top. Then when you pour water in the machine from the carafe, it always drips on the counter unless you have the PERFECT angle and speed. Then if you want to confirm how much water is in it, you must look inside from the top. Unless you are filling it to 12 cups or so, it's hard to see how much water is in the machine.
Makes OK coffee but there is no secret in brewing coffee, my old 20 dollar machine's coffee was just as good.

Want a great cup of mud?
by ellie31773 ,Oct 17 '07
Pros: Handsome, sleek design
Brews quickly
Easy to use Cons: It's tedious to clean under the lid
My husband and I registered for the Brew Central because we'd heard good things about the Cuisinart brand and because of its great looks. We have almost every coordinating kitchen electric in the Cuisinart line and this is by far our favorite.
Not only is the Brew Central coffeemaker handsome, it functions really well and makes consistently delicious coffee. The coffeemaker is easy to use, the programming buttons are self-explanatory, and it includes great bonus features (we especially like the drip-stop, auto shut-off, and adjustable temp). We've found the carafe to be very durable, but if we ever manage to break it, it will be very easy to get a replacement carafe.
Although we wouldn't recommend many of the other Cuisinart products in this line, we feel perfectly comfortable recommending this coffeemaker to strangers! When it's on our friends' wedding registries, this is what we buy for them.

Better than Bodum Santos
by russzilla ,Dec 23 '07
Pros: Good price for great machine Cons: None to be found
Simple straight forward design coupled with ease of use.
Switched from a Vacuum pot style just this morning.
Before Vac/pot, I was a dedicated percolator user for years.
Having sworn off drip makers for last 10 years, I'm back.
This machine will make an excellent companion for at least 3 years (their warranty)

Best Coffee MAKER - Hot Coffee
by v946916 ,May 04 '04
Pros: Automatic off, Programmable on, easy to use, Hot coffee, Great tasting coffee. Cons: No Cons Here !!!!!!
I bought this coffee maker for my wifes birthday after reading the reviews on Epinions. I do not dink coffee, but my wife says its the best coffee we have ever had - and she brews twice a day. It replaced a krups, that was still working, but could never keep the coffee warm for a more than 30 minutes. The cuisinart keeps the coffee HOT for up to 4 hours and you can program an automatic turn off, so you do not need to worry that the coffee maker is still on.
We have owned previously 2 krups and a braun. This is the best - stay away from the rest.
Paid $69 at BJ's wholesale club

DIED AFTER 5 MONTHS- BAD DEAL
by lm2007 ,Aug 01 '07
Pros: Looks cool and makes lots of coffee Cons: Died within 5 months- Enough said.
Not too many complaints up until the unit died after 5 mths. There was one morning when my husband forgot to put the lid on the coffee pot and it spilled all over, but other then that not to many problems. Then one morning woke up and went to get that morning cup going and wa-la no power- nothing. Man, after spending almost $80 for a coffee maker, you wouldn't think that it would be taking a dump the first 5 mths. So I email customer service about the issue, they set up to send out the replacement- SHOULD be here in 7-14 days???? That sucks- no coffee for 2 weeks- are they out of there mind, then on top of that they want me to pay $10 to ship the defective product back to them. WOW talk about customer service!!! I think if I made such a pathetic product that died in the first year of its life, I would suck it up and eat the shipping to keep my customers buying my products. I guarantee after this experience with this Cuisinart product I will think twice before purchasing another one from them.

No Regrets!
by elledopp ,May 03 '06
Pros: Great style! Makes a great cup of coffee, has personal coffee settings options Cons: small water opening
I bought this machine after having tons of problems with the Mr Coffee machine I had. What a difference!
Not only is it great looking, it makes a hell of a cup of coffee.
I love the temperature setting and the "quick heat" option for smaller amounts.
The only problem I have with it is that it has a small opening for pouring water. It also doesn't really have a water "window".
Oh, one other minor thing... just a personal opinion. I think the on/off button should be the opposite. Right for on, left for off.
