This Coffee Maker is great!! - I love it.
by rleng616 ,Aug 04 '08
Pros: auto shut off (2-3-or 4 hours.) EXCELLENT coffee! Water filter for that extra touch. Cons: It's a wee bit difficult to see the water level indicator.
I exchanged a Delonghi for this Cuisinart. Although I liked the DeLonghi, it stopped working after a few weeks (No Power - yes I did try other electrical outlets.) It seems like every new coffee maker box pretty well says the same thing...12 cups, auto shut off, blah blah blah. Well, this Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker had one difference - it was more expensive! Well, I bought it anyway and am I glad that I did. THIS IS THE BEST COFFEE MAKER THAT I EVER OWNED!!!!

Coffeehouse coffee at home!
by quatsch ,Apr 02 '07
Pros: Easy to use, controls are intuitive, easy to clean, excellent cup of coffee EVERY time! Cons: None that I've experienced!
Wow! What a difference a decent coffee maker can make! I had been using a freebie I got with my coffee subscription. It did the job well for 8 years, but needed replacement. I read the reviews on this Cuisinart and thought I'd give it a try. I don't know if it's the built in water filter or the way it brews the coffee, but what a tremendous difference it makes! I'm using the same coffee and filters as before but it is NOT the same cup of coffee...smooth, flavourful, absolutely wonderful! Some have written that it's hard to pour the water in. I use my left hand and have had no problems. It's so easy to clean and I really like the 1-4 cup feature. My coffee is piping hot and DELICIOUS! I would HIGHLY recommend this coffeemaker. NOTE: I found it for considerably less at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Costco (at least in VA) is currently carrying them. Treat yourself and go get one!

not durable
by boop1940 ,Dec 30 '07
Pros: This coffee maker looks great. Cons: It worked great for two years and then fell apart.
Both my son and I had this coffeemaker. His began to leak after two years and had to be tossed. Mine began to make only half a pot and the remaining water turned to steam which warped the bottom of the cabinet above. We cleaned them as instructed but didn't help. It cost $120 and that was a lot to last only two years.

Cuisinart Coffee maker last only 6 months of once a day use
by nomad6664 ,Apr 20 '09
Pros: Makes good coffee Cons: It only lasted for 6 month of use
After only 6 month of use this coffee maker leaks badly. It was good while it lasted. The company will repair or replace providing it is sent to the company at the customer's cost along with $10.00 for shipping the repaired unit back. That's a total of $20.00 for a coffee maker which has only been used about 140 times.
I would not buy a Cuisinart product again.

Can't Go Wrong
by gmasandra ,Aug 10 '09
Pros: Good customer service. Non-drip carafe. Great coffee. Cons: The white stains from the coffee.
I purchased this coffee maker in white a year ago. I am so pleased with Cuisinart and the coffee maker, I purchased a second one for my vacation home. The coffee is great. The non-drip carafe is fantastic. My first purchase was the white coffee maker. I was a little disappointed that the white stains from the coffee. The second purchase was stainless and so far is holding up nicely. Excellent customer service with Cuisinart. My husband broke our carafe and we purchased a new one. The replacement carafe dripped. I contacted customer service and they sent us a new one.

Not worth the $$$$
by kwalsklan ,Nov 19 '05
Pros: Looks nice.. Cons: It's a single drip, and not a multi head, which makes a big difference
My wife and I asked for a Cuisinart Coffee Maker.. and we never really enjoyed it. My In-laws have an 8 cup Bunn Coffee maker.. and when they make a cup of coffee, it is sooo much better than the Cuisinart. So two weeks ago my wife and I bought the new 10 cup Bunn Coffee maker.. and we love it so much better!! Plus it took like 9 scoops of coffee to make a pot.. and now it only takes 5, and with the price of coffee - it's a big deal.
If you want great flavor.. do yourself a favor and buy a Bunn Coffee Maker instead.

Opening the lid dribbles condensation onto countertop
by sekafetz ,Feb 11 '07
Pros: Looks nice, has a cool name. Makes coffee just like any other maker. Cons: Dribbles condensation.
$12.50 for charcoal filter replacements.
Makes coffee just like any other maker.
Nice Coffee, but $12.50 for charcoal filter replacements and the biggest pet peave - when you open the top to put coffee or water into it, the condensation flows down the back and all around the countertop for a wonderful clean up. I also find that the coffee stopper when the pot is removed sometimes leaks and puts coffee under the unit for later discovery.
Personally, I would redesign the back water catch - as it is my biggest peave with this unit.
Due to that only I wouldn't buy it again.

Worst tasting coffee ever
by beershot ,Dec 12 '08
Pros: None Cons: Nasty coffee if you can call it coffee.
The DCC-1200 makes the vilest, putrid and nastiest coffee I ever experienced. I am actually concerned about my health after tasting what this coffee maker produces. Tried everything, melitta cone filters, distilled water, with and without charcoal filter, cleaning with vinegar, no luck. If you are looking for something to peal paint off the wall, this unit makes it.

finally hot coffee
by hfjava59 ,Nov 17 '09
Pros: It was simple to program, and the finished cup of java was hot and flavorful. Cons: The only con was filling the small opening with water.
The Cuisinart 12 cup brew coffee maker is just what I was looking for, it met all of my requirements. The brewing water temperture came out hot and the finished brew stayed hot as well. I grind my own beans and use filtered water to make the best brew. As a former coffee cafe owner I have tried many coffee makers and this by far is one that I hope to use for many years. I priced this unit on line and found it at Bed Bath and Beyond for a low price with the store coupon and Cuisinart offering a $10 rebate I came out purchasing the unit for under $60 which was a great price for such a wonderful coffee maker. I also have a friend that has tried to find a hot cup of home brew and he loves this machine and purchased it also.

Plastic for Breakfast
by coffeeadict ,Jan 01 '06
Pros: Looks good; I like the stainless steel finish. Cons: Taste of plastic in coffee; not as warm; hard to get water into.
I bought the Cuisinart DCC-1200 primarily based on the positive reviews from this site. This coffee looked good - I bought the Cuisinart DCC-1200 primarily based on the positive reviews from this site. This coffee looked good - I liked the stainless steel finish. But, was it a real disappointment when it came to the coffee. Glad I had not thrown out my simple GE coffee maker. I should have paid attention to the couple of negative reviews. I concur with a previous reviewer's complaints about taste of plastic in the coffee. It is true. To make sure that I was not imagining it, I made two pots, one with the Cuisinart and another with my GE coffee maker. The coffee from the Cuisinart was colder and had a persistent taste of plastic. Another minor issue is also that it is hard to get water into the unit, compared to other units that I had previously used. I packed the unit and returned it to the seller. I am back in the market for a coffee maker, although after the experience with the Cuisinart the coffee from the simple GE coffee maker is tasting better.

Bad Bad Coffee
by creepychick ,Feb 27 '09
Pros: Very cool looking black chrome. Easy to use features including timer and auto shut off. Cons: The worst cup of coffee EVER! I can't get the taste out of my mouth..
This coffee maker made the worst coffee I have ever tasted. I tried running water through it several times, used the paper filter, the gold filter, the paper AND gold filter, my OWN gold filter, with and without the carbon filter and STILL could not get a cup of coffee that was drinkable. I tried using different amount of coffee and even tried a fresher coffee.. still nothing. The coffee tasted like plastic water. YEEEEELLLLCCCCCHHH.. Went back into the box and back to the store. Now what to do?
