Great start

by orlamejia , Apr 10 '03
Pros: Close to home, only thirty min. workout, not intimidated by mega fitness fanatics
Cons: would like to see more weekend hours
I have been trying to get motivated and break the winter blues cycle on my own, I bought an eliptical machine which I love.... but then I went to Curves. I love it there, it gets you into the right frame of mind. Everyone is comfortable there. The...

A terrific idea - but, it's not for everyone

by mblandino , Jul 11 '03
Pros: The Workout is fast, easy and fun.
Cons: Hours vary by location - some are very limited.
I joined Curves about a month ago, mostly upon the recommendation of a friend who has been a member at another location for more than a year. As you are no doubt aware, Curves combines the benefits of an aerobic workout with strength training, using sp ...

I Left With A Feeling Of Skepticism

by patgoose , Jan 29 '03
Pros: A novel concept; good for those just starting a fitness program.
Cons: Lack of knowledge of the staff.
I began working out a few years ago so I'm not new to the fitness arena. I'm also 56 and overweight but would consider myself fit nonetheless as I work out fairly regularly to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, good muscle tone and an overall...

Fine by me

by saabsista , Aug 02 '04
Pros: Quick, easy, good instructors.
Cons: Vary the music a little more.
I want to work out, but a busy schedule always seemed to be getting in the way. I discovered Curves and this is fantastic. I attend a facility that opens at 6 am three days a week. I am able to get the workout in before I go to work. I attend Mon, Wed,& ...

This really really works!

by sammyjbrown , Apr 15 '03
Pros: Really only 30 minutes, 3x a week! This is achievable and realistic for most women.
Cons: Is not a typical "health club" so doesn't have tanning, showers, spa services.
I have been "dieting" since September with very slow, up and down results, attending aerobics classes for an hour and 20 minutes twice a week, plus doing Pilates tapes at home. It was grueling. Then a brand new Curves opened in my very small town about...

You get out of it, what you put in it....

by jent42 , Apr 27 '04
Pros: fairly inexpensive & positive environment for women to workout in
Cons: most facilities are small
I just recently joined a local Curves in my area. I have read all the submitted reviews and just want to say that you will get out of the workouts at Curves, what you put in to it. For those of you who do not know what "Curves" is - here's my ...

Pros: Time passes quickly! Inviting Atmosphere!
Cons: can get repetitive.
I won't go into the details of how Curves works as most of the reviewers here have already done so. ...

Curves is a great beginning fitness program but won't get you truly fit

by swanee , Jun 11 '03
Pros: Quick, easy, fun, great for sedentary or overweight women
Cons: can't increase fitness level, lack of consistency or knowledge among staff, not enough exercise time
If you are very overweight and/or sedentary, look into Curves circuit training. It is a quick, fu ...

Curves is great for beginners like me

by sixerbtch , Jul 12 '06
Pros: friendly atmosphere, cheap, fast and easy workout, lots of fun motivating games, tons of locations
Cons: no daycare, no showers, no cute guys:), no group exercise class
I have been a Curves member for about 10 months. I always hated working out and have never followed through on any program more than 2 months. But I said to myself, I can do anything for 30 seconds. And that is all the time it takes to be successful on a ...

Curves not for Every Woman

by nfdm , Sep 22 '03
Pros: Easy to commit to- takes little time
Cons: Perhaps too easy to do- Possible risk of injury due to untrained staff
I had never exercised before, and although I am not overweight, I have managed to put on a few extra pounds as I've reached my mid-forties. Since everyone I know seems to belong to one Curves or another, I decided to give it a try. The first thing I n ...

Curves is a great workout for anyone.

by dan1sh33 , Jan 13 '03
Pros: It is such a simple idea, but it works!
Cons: Can get boring, but when I stop, I find myself really missing it.
I am in the middle of my 2nd year at Curves and I highly recommend it. Curves is great workout! It is good for anyone because it is as hard as you make it. I love that it is only 30 minutes. It saves me so much time, and I look better then I did when I...

CURVES is For YOU!!

by martymor , Dec 18 '02
Pros: Quick, cheap, clean and convenient! There's no wait for machines ...
Cons: Some facilities close as early as 7:30pm.
I LOVE CURVES!! I've been a member for almost 2 months now and I am very satisfied with the current results. I'm young (23y/o) and not a person who would be considered overweight, but I'm interested in lowering my body fat. In fact, Curves has already...

Great Workout for all levels!

by shrinkrapt , Feb 02 '05
Pros: Terrific self-adjusting weight training for women if used well-along with aerobic exercise. Convenient, congenial community.
Cons: Requires attention and intention to get the best results! Look around for the best facility.
The Curves program offers a fantastic workout for women at all levels of fitness, if you work at it! A consistent weight training program is not something many women manage. Aerobic fitness yes, but keeping up with weights, reps and an all around weight ...

The best for women who are overweight.

by michawnpita , May 06 '03
Pros: Quick, Easy, Not intimidating!
Cons: Not open 7 days a week.
I have been a member of Curves since Sept 02' and although I have not been faithful to my workouts (health, move and just plain lazy) it is a great place! I have moved to a new one in my new town and it's great, it has a good deal of machines, I think 12...

Curves - my opinion

by caringcarol , Jul 15 '06
Pros: they are VERY willing to sign anyone up!
Cons: not professional, conflicting (bad) advice
This is my experience with Curves – and it’s not pleasant. I decided in January this year, after two friends endorsed Curves, to give it a try. I am overweight, have not exercised consistently for years but wanted to get in better shape and ...
