Pros: It has nice functions, it is small and easy to work Cons: The installation is not easy
My husband has as long as I’ve known him (17 years) had a fascination with the weather. That fascination increased greatly when we moved to the ocean. Here we seem to be the weather. Every change in wind speed or direction we can feel. We can see the...
Pros: Accurate temperature data; Longevity Cons: Inaccurate wind speed data; no dew point/humidity or air pressure readings

Intermittent display, and poor service by photonutca ,Nov 23 '06
Pros: Nice display when it worked, and updated quickly. Cons: Numerous display lockups, and no replacement from Davis.
I have had a Weather Wizard III for about a year. The display has always 'frozen' and would not display the readings. Davis wants U$69 to repair and that could be even more $. Not a very good buy at all. I bought mine direct from Davis, maybe service would be better from a distributor; but I doubt it.
I prefer the Davis instruments, by tailspin2 ,Dec 30 '03
Pros: Constantly updated readings and push one button to switch between readouts on various sensors Cons: I can't think of any
I owned a Davis instruments weather machine for several years and was very happy with it. During winter storms my wife and I would watch the wind gusts to see what they were and check the wind chill readout.
When we moved into a new home this spring I bought her a Lacrosse Technology wireless instrument. Now here's the big difference! The Davis would update constantly and you could actually watch the wind speed with each gust. The Lacrosse updates only every three minutes with an average speed during that three minutes.
The Davis you could switch readouts from wind speed to temperature to windchill by pressing one button. On the Lacrosse Technology machine you have to toggle through all the readouts to get back to the one you just left, meaning you would have to push the button 5 times.
Jan 18th 2004. I just installed a new Davis Instrument Vantage Pro wireless weather monitor. It was easy to install and the directions were easy to follow for setup.
It even does a forecast!
The only downside was the cost. I bought it at a local discount marine supply store and paid $498. The list price is $595.00.
