Who is Beth Orton?
To me, Beth Orton is melancholy made flesh. When I listen to her sing her self-penned songs, I feel so much sadness I almost cry. But it's a beautiful sadness, one that comes from love lost, ambition stunted, connection...

This was my first Beth Orton cd. Before I bought the cd, I thought she was part of the group of women who sing whiny, folksy songs.

Beth Orton deserves a group of her own. The first time I listened to her songs, it took me a second to adjust. But after a while, her voice touches your heart. Her songs are so beautiful, serene, melancholy. bittersweet. everything. You can hear so many tones and emotions in her songs.

To anyone who listens to her cd the first time, I would listen to "Thinking about tomorrow" first. "Paris Train" ( the first song on the album) can be a little too shocking on the ears for those not used to her music.

I love her music and I know people are missing out because she is not mainstream or on major radio stations. I've had to buy a second cd bc I wore my first one out!

I highly recommend this cd! Enjoy!
