I had had my old system for about 5 years and to be honest and it was getting a bit long in the tooth - just like me really, I suppose! The final straw came when a particularly insidious pair of virus` managed to worm their way onto my hard drive ...

Pros: Command Center feeling, quality, beautiful screen and looks, value, and performace is good. Cons: Mr. Dell, please stop installing marketing crap into my harddrive before shipping (i.e. ISPs, etc.).
I was contemplating between the 6000 and the 9300 for a week. I wouldnt have even considered the 9300 had it not been for the $200 price difference between the two models. I value laptops less than desktops, because when I had bought one while back for ...

I spent the last year in the desert of Iraq. The times that I wasn't out and about were spent inside the wire and were fairly boring. When I started looking for a laptop I had no idea where to start. Dell had a good deal for military members so that's ...
Pros: Overall excellent choice. Solid performer, nice screens, slew of add-ons. Cons: No real complaints. Fan comes on often, but it is a big notebook.
Its a difficult thing to do: shop through the offerings of notebooks today. If you are looking at the 9200/9300/xps lineup then you have settled on one thing- a big fat screen. Even though it is a heavier book, this one Im writing from is near 9 lbs., ...

I actually traded in my desktop for this computer, and my decision could not have been a better one. It is sleek, fast, and I have always thought Dell was very reliable.
Display commonly fails at about 18 months by don_alejandro ,Nov 21 '06
Pros: Large display with good viewing angle Cons: Display fails shortly after the warranty expires
The display on this model is prone to developing the "purple line of death" at about 18 months (your color may vary). Dell only started selling them about 20 months ago, so many currently happy users are in for a bad surprise. If you got the one year warranty, tough luck - replacing the display costs about $500. Stay away from this laptop unless and until Dell announces free replacement for defective display panels even if out of warranty.
This applies to other laptops with the same display, such as the 9200). Extensive info here:

Pros: Great computer that lasts about 12 months. Cons: Bad LCD and unethical response from Dell.
Don't buy a used 9300 or 9200. The posts about the LCD are true.
I bought mine in May 2005.
Google Dell vertical lines or see http://forums.devshed.com/computer-hardware-103/single-pixel-lines-in-dell-inspiron-screen-382937-8.html
for complete story.
Google purple line of death too.
Pros: Worked great until the warranty was up, now it is a disaster. Cons: An expensive laptop is almost disposable.
We have had numerous problems will Dell laptops, but the worst seems to be that in this particular model, as soon as the 1 year warranty is up, the screen starts to deteriorate. It gets vertical white lines on the display. After having researched this on the internet, it seems to be an incredibly common problem When Dell was inundated with complaints, they responded by saying that if the computer was shipped back, for anywhere from $350 to $700 (depending on how much screaming you do) they will fix it. According to our research this seems to be a systemic problem with this Dell.
Pros: Nice case, big screen, good connections options Cons: Slow,Runs to many diognostics, Media Center overbearing
I just got a Dell Inspiron 9300 to replace a Gateway ME machine.
The 17" screen is great. The case looks good.
But it is no faster then the old ME
It takes it a long time to figure out what what it needs to do even on a simple taks such as changing from one file folder to search in to another.
The media center tries to second guess me if I search in another drive and I have to wait untill it is done before I can search for what I want.
I have found the machine to be very frustrating.
I have tried some other Media Center computers and think i will send it back.
I also just finished trying to deal with Dell Support on a 3 year and two month old Dell Percison M50 I have had to spend hours with Tech support to get answers.
