I was looking for a good ultralight laptop. I looked at different machines out in the net and the only choices I had were a few. Sony Vaio 505, Toshiba Portege 2000 and the Dell X200. I did buy the X200 finally because of one big deal! Dell refurbished...

Pros: Very light 2 x USB, 1 x Digital Full fledged and very small docking station
Cons: Small hard disk

I am 70 % on the road and needed an ultralight notebook to run my standard applications. It is somehow outdated after two years of use. The new models (X300, X1) come also with bluetooth and flashcard/sd technology. I will most probably still continue with Dell for a while.

Pros: Lightweight, mobile, easy to use
Cons: Can be pricey when you start to add on extras

Whether you are a first time PC user or a die hard computer programmer, you cant go wrong with the Dell Latitude notebook. I used to be a mac user but switched to the Dell LAtitude when i heard about its great ratings. As a student, it provides me with all of the tools that i need to get my work done. As a person with very little patience, you can trust me when i say that the upgraded processor will leave you in a peaceful state. By ordering from Dell, you can customize the lightweight notebook with such things as wireless networking capabilities and premium graphics cards. This notebook is perfect for students and writers such as myself.

One of Dell's finest creations yet-- I think the laptop unit, itself, weights in around 2.8 lbs, with the battery, which is just insane. I got one of the first models, around 966Mhz / 384MB Ram and haven't had any need to upgrade it yet.

The "Media Base" docking station is a great feature and well worth the extra if it's not wrapped into your quoted cost. it's a simple platform that you simply pop the laptop onto and it's got all of your standard connection ports. In addition, if you feel the need to take it with you so that you can access all of the ports and/or the floppy drive and CD Rom, etc., the entire unit together STILL weighs in around only 5 lbs and is smaller than many laptops still being sold!!!!!!!

Oh, and the design-- modern looking, nice speckled gray exterior, smooth slightly rounded lines. A snazzy little machine. Even the 12.1" lcd screen has great resolution and really doesn't feel as small as it is-- the overall weight, size and portability makes up for the smaller screen.
