Very Impressive
by wlstal ,Sep 19 '04
Pros: amazing suction, not overly noisy, not difficult to push and maneuver Cons: cord needs to be hand wound, wand didn't have as much suction as floor unit
I never in a million years thought I would pay $500 for a vacuum. But after going through 5 vacuums in 14 years (various manufacturers) I'm tired of throwing my money away on something that does only a satisfactory job of cleaning. I just finished using my new Dyson Animal and have to say, so far I'm very impressed with it's performance. I can't believe the filth it sucked up off my carpets and floors and I had just vacuumed the day before with my Eureka. I've got 6 indoor cats and 1 indoor dog and staying on top of the animal hair is a must to control odors. But it seemed as though even regular vacuuming wasn't controlling the odors anymore. Now I know why. There was tons of pet hair way down in the carpet that my regular vacuum wasn't reaching. I'm still shaking my head at how much pet hair and dirt my old vacuum was missing.

Dyson Animal means Power!
by lsailor ,Jul 25 '04
Pros: Best vacuum out there - love it!! Cons: Expensive, heavy
After managing to break yet another bagless vacuum, my husband suggested that we purchase the Dyson Animal. I was initially skeptical because of the price tag, but he was convinced the Dyson would be a wonder vacuum.
The first time we used it I was shocked and horrified at the amount of dirt it picked up in about a foot square. This vacuum is amazing, but kind of gross if you happen to have 4 cats and a dog and don't realize the amount of fur and dirt on your carpet.
We have had the Dyson now for almost a year and it continues to amaze me at the amount of stuff it picks up, I really couldn't ask for or find a better vacuum. I love that you are able to take apart the components if something gets stuck, you are able to release the dirt into the trash with the pull of a trigger. The Dyson is very well designed for ease of use and performs extremely well.

All I want for Christmas is to be cat hair free
by marciewhite ,Feb 22 '05
Pros: Everything about it.It's light and easy to push and pull. Cons: ? Nothing yet.
I have gone thru 4 vacuums in 5 years. I saw the commercial on the Dyson, and after researching the product I decided to put it on the top of my Christmas list. After opening the package on Christmas morning, and seeing how this thing is put together (like a jigsaw puzzle, I was certain I had made a mistake. But...once I turned it on and used it. I am totally sold on this vacuum. It works exactally like it is advertised. It pushes and pulls with ease. I love the simplicity of emptying it, and it is so quiet. The edger pulls things away from the wall and it's sucked straight up. It is amazing on cat hair. And the color...purple...matches my new slippers. Thank you Dyson.

Best Vacuum on the Market
by rsg_1 ,Apr 02 '04
Pros: Incredible suction power with very useful tools. The Dyson is better than a Kirby. Cons: Somewhat pricey, but its possible to use coupons from Best Buy or Bed-Bath & Beyond.
I have owned the Dyson DC07 since Nov. 2003 and I vacuum twice a week. I am convinced its the best consumer or commercial vacuum on the market. The suction power is powerful and remains consistent, no matter how much you've filled up the dust bin. I have a 3500sq.ft. house with 2500sq.ft. of carpet and the rest with tile. The Dyson keeps doing the job without hesitation and without me spending money for bags and filters. The Root-8 Cyclone technology that Dyson utlizes has proven to be a winner and I enjoy vacuuming so much, that my wife laughs at me when I say that I love the Dyson. Perhaps she realizes that its one task that she may never have to do again.
I vacuumed the entire house using a 5-year old top-of-the-line Kenmore cannister vacuum and then did it all over again with the Dyson. To my amazement, the Dyson's dust bin was 3" full of dirt.

Love it!
by kbaldridge ,Aug 02 '08
Pros: Cleans great, Easy to use. Cons: Heavy, loud, pricey
We love it. It cleans great. Find it to be somewhat loud but other than that we like everything about it. It picks up so much our other vacuum didn't. It also disassemble for easy cleaning. It does cost more than most vacuums, but you get what you pay for.

Not worth what they charge
by scannertech ,Sep 16 '07
Pros: easy to clean Cons: doesn't work as well as my Hoover upright
I have this vacuum. It is not a bad vacuum but it is not as good as my Hoover upright. Give me Hoover any day over this one and at 1/3 the price! I can vacuum over thread or some things in my carpet and they do not come up. I can vacuum over the same debris and it will not pick it up. It also does not go under even some higher legged furniture. It spits stuff back onto the floor when I vacuum my wood floors. I will say it is very easy to clean out the cannister, just undo it, pull the lever--make sure you have it over the trash--and it is done. Also, it did not come with attachments and to get the wand out to clean the edges is confusing. My DH cannot master it. Or maybe he is just using it as an excuse not to vacuum? NO, it is difficult.

Dyson DC07
by kellycat ,Jan 02 '07
Pros: None now. Cons: Overheated and lost suction.
I had a good and eventually a bad experience with the vacuum cleaner. I bought this at Best Buy. In my opinion, they have the worst Customer treatment.

Dyson Animal for a House Full of Dogs
by dogmumof9 ,Feb 18 '05
Pros: Great Suction and Ease in using, easy, bagless cleaning. Cons: Price and attachment storage.
With 9 dogs, I needed an upgrade from my old wind tunnel model which just wasn't cutting it. Having new carpet and hardwood floors installed, it was time and we decided to go with the Dyson Animal. I can't say enough for the power and suction of this vacuum. Works fabulously on my tile, hardwood and carpet. My vacuuming time has been reduced and the amount of hair that is cleaned up in one session is unbelievable. My visitors with allergies are sneezing much less! I just love it!

Greatly Disappointed - no big variance over my Dirt Devil
by jennifermark ,Jul 01 '04
Pros: Bagless so you can see the dirt. Cons: Overrated, overpriced, greatly disappointed!
After reading so many reviews I finally purchased the Dyson Animal because of my frustration with dog hair being everywhere! So excited to finally receive my new magic machine (it was on back order for three weeks at Linens and Things) I put the vacuum together and immediately tried the vacuum out. At first I was overwhelmed with excitement and then disgusted with all of the dirt and dust that the Dyson Animal removed from my carpets.
The next morning I continued to use the Dyson Animal, but after vacuuming on a red rug I noticed that it wasn't working as grand as I had thought. Needless to say, I did a side by side comparison and the Dyson did no better of a job than my 4 year old Dirt Devil! UGH!!!!! The only difference is that I could see what the Dyson was picking up and I couldn't see it with the standard vacuum.
I couldn't justify being completely disappointed with the new vacuum and paying $500+ for something that produced only average results.
I returned it!

Extremely Disappointed
by jmurphmsu ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: Pushes effortlessly, but really doesn't matter if you're just "massaging" your carpet. Cons: The roller brush - it just doesn't work on shorter carpets. Adjustable height is needed.
I purchased my DC07 a few days ago and I couldn't be less happy about the results. I have a California shag in my family room and I can barely tell it's been vacuumed. I have two large area rugs, dark in color, in my living room/dining room. The brush cannot pick up dog hair nor can it pick up dust particles on these short carpets. I did a side by side test with my $129.00 Hoover Turbo EmPower 4000 and the Hoover picked up everything. The Dyson just pushed the dog hair and dust particles around. Where is this suction I keep reading about?

Amazing!!!
by gene54 ,Mar 31 '05
Pros: Amazing ability to remove pet hair from floor and furniture Cons: Cost
I have always bought the vacuums recommended by Consumer Reports. My most recent was the Hoover Wind Tunnel - still number one by Consumer Reports. But, it just didn't pick up the pet hair in our home. We own 3 house cats and have a grand-dog that visits also. I was disgusted by the hair. My best friend bought a Dyson Animal and was amazed. I received mine 5 days ago and I've never vacuumed so much in my life. It is AMAZING. I have two dark throw rugs that looked shampooed after I vacuumed with my Dyson. It is so expensive, but worth every penny. You won't regret this purchase at all if you have house pets!!

Best vacuum ever!!!
by julief ,Nov 09 '04
Pros: - quiet
- amazing sucking ability:)
Cons: - price initially, although its well worth it
I bought this vacuum in April, after a long hard search for a well built, quiet, quality vacuum. I previously owned a Hoover, which I thought worked fairly well, although it was loud and I constantly broke belts. We have a golden retriever who has his friends over often so we need to vacuum often. My husband would practically run from the house whenever I started the Hoover. I talked him into paying the hefty price for this vacuum and finally bought it. We now fight over who does the vacuuming. This thing picks up so much more dog hair than we ever knew was on the floor. I highly recommend this vacuum to anyone! If you are concerned about the price, its well worth it!!!

Dyson DC07 Animal = Best Vacuum Ever
by hml810 ,Feb 15 '06
Pros: incredible cleaning power and great attachment options Cons: all attachments are not able to be stored on machine
With the Dyson, I can easily vacuum both hardwood, linoleum, and carpet with one click. After first trying it on the living room rug, my husband said, "It's like we paid to have it cleaned professionally!" I had heard from several friends that it was worth the money, however I doubted that a vacuum could be that good. So, I opted for the refurbished version that comes with a 6 month warranty instead of the 2 year. It also comes heavily discounted and still works great! I have a friend who purchased refurbished one as well and has had no problems.
I have two dogs who shed profusely causing my weeks to include vacuuming several times using different machines. I had a Eureka for the carpeted areas and a small sweeper vac for the hardwoods. I had to use the hose attachments to vacuum the dog hair in hard to reach places. Now, with my Dyson, I just vacuum then change to use the hose w/reversible wand, empty the canister and I'm done. I really like the Animal and floor attachments as well.

Awesome If You Have Pet Hair
by markandray ,Oct 02 '04
Pros: Awesome on pet hair. Great suction power. Neat color too. Cons: I don't like having to switch attachments to get under furniture.
Amazing in the pick up of pet hair. I thought my carpet was pretty clean until I used the "animal." It was amazing how much dirt and pet hair it removed from just a small section of my carpet. I was sold instantly. I am impressed by the power as well as the "No Bag Feature."
