Ebo Jager is a HOT item for any aquarium.

by bergzy Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Nov 26 '06
Pros: The best heater money can buy and thankfully, they are very reasonably priced!
Cons: The need to make heaters larger than 250 watts for big aquarium owners!!!
Ebo Jager is a HOT item for any aquarium. I like keeping fish. No…wait. I love keeping fish. Not intense enough. I am fanatical about keeping fish. Still not there. I am obsessively compelled to keep fish. There, that almost describes it. I ...

Finally, a good looking, effective, submergible heater, (that's cheap!)

by yodosays , Aug 02 '03
Pros: Easy to set, submergible, relatively cheap, reliable, good looks.
Cons: Uh...nope.
I'm what one would call a "serious fish keeper." I have 4 tanks that total 140 Gallons of water. I a ...

by nunnie , Aug 21 '01
Pros: Heavy Duty Construction, Steady Temperature Control, Lasts Forever, Lots of Watts/Sizes to Choose From
Cons: Perhaps just a wee bit more expensive than some.
BACKGROUND:
I have had Freshwater Tropical Fish for 11 years now. I don't breed, but am a very avid hobbiest. We have 10 aquariums, two 10 gallon, one 15 gallon, one 30 gallon, two 50 gallon total; one 55 gallon, two 80 gallon and one 150 gallon...

Reliability is Job #1

by balberth , Dec 22 '00
Pros: Reliable, safe and accurate operation.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
Ebo-Jager heaters are likely the best built and most reliable aquarium heaters offered at an affordable price. I currently own about ten of their heaters, and have used them for more than 12 years in both freshwater and saltwater tanks.

When...

The heater serious fishkeepers trust

by bill1911 , Apr 12 '01
Pros: Precise temperature control, durability.
Cons: I can't believe the retail markups on these things.
REPUTATION

For me my fish are not just a decoration or piece of furniture in my living room. They are my pastime. I'm really into it. I have a small cichlid breeding operation in my home. It doesn’t turn a profit, but the hobby seems to pay...

Accuracy counts.

by alexmd , Jul 20 '01
Pros: Fully submersible, stronger glass, reasonably priced, holds constant temp
Cons: Temperature is poorly calibrated
Introduction:
After reading the three positive reviews describing the precision of the Ebo-Jager aquarium heater, I went out and bought one, anxious to try it out.

Ease of Use:
Setting the temperature of the Ebo-Jager heater requires...

The best money can buy

by Rikkochet , Sep 19 '00
Pros: Very strong, superior temperature controls
Cons: Suggested wattage for tanks is inadequate
Ebos are the best mainstream tank heater I've ever come across. Comparable in price to other submersibles, the Ebo is the most reliable.
Most heaters have a glass thickness of 1mm. The Ebo has 2mm. That in itself should sell you - especially if you...

It's all true!

by ultconsumer , Jan 03 '02
Pros: Quality, reliability, ease of use
Cons: none
All the good things you hear about this heater are true!! It has double glass that makes it more durable than it's competitors. It keeps the temperatures in my aquariums consistent. I have bought 4 of these heaters...only because I have 4 aquariums to...

This heater used to be good.
by robs_epinion ,May 19 '07
Pros: Easy adjustments
Cons: Just doesn't last.
After being a former aquarium enthusiast, with several "meltdowns" with heaters, I understood why you never skimp on the heater. So when I first set up this 34 hex aquarium in 94, I wanted the best heater on the market. Ebo-Jager was highly recommended. This heater truly was the best I have ever used. Temperature NEVER fluctuated, and it worked flawless for 10 years until the heating coil burned out. I obviously replaced it with another Ebo-Jager, but it was not the same. The simple protected temperature adjustment slot was replaced with an outside dial, that needed callibration by the consumer to work properly. After figuring out how to work this, I had the tank temp stable... until 13 months later a meltdown occured (out of warrantee). I figured this was an anomoly, so purchased another ebo-jager. Within months, this heater couldn't hold the temp. A third was purchased, and this too failed a couple of years later. Appearantly ebo-jager was bought up by another company, and they must have changed the design and quality. 3 bad heaters is not a fluke. If you are considering them, think again. They are living off an OLD reputation.
