Great British Cooking: no, it's not all boiled!

Pros: You might think the title of the book is an oxymoron. It's not.
Cons: One of the best books on the subject, but some pictures would have been nice.
Mention british cooking to any gourmet or gourmand, and you will see them quake in horror. After all, Great Britain is the home of boiled, starchy horrible messes that manage to take all of the life and vigor out of anything called food.
