Pros: Quiet, cheapest in class, less soap, "set and forget" operation, no shakes, one machine washes/dries Cons: takes longer to wash/dry than separate washer/dryers, durability is sorely lacking
WARNING: Review updated Sept. 2003, read Flood Warning! (bottom) The Order: Originally, we were thinking about a Thor or an Equator, but they were too priceyand their reviews werent good enough to justify it. After months of deliberations ...
Pros: Saves space, energy efficient, quiet. Cons: see review.
I just bought this washer/dryer combo in December 0f 2002. I have been using it for about a month. So far it is great. I no longer have to carry my load of laundry to the laundromat and wait for 2 hours. What's also great is the fact that you don't have...
Pros: Nice compact size, cleans great when it runs, easy to use Cons: No support from manufacturer, poor overall quality and reliability
I joined Epinions for the sole purpose of sharing my experience with this machine. I purchased the XQG50-11 in January of 2004 and owned it up until the beginning of October of 2005. For years, I had relied on laundromats and finally a very old ...
Pros: washer works ok; it's small; it sounds like a good idea Cons: dryer steams and wrinkles clothes; shrinkage, flooding; customer service
I was excited when the landlord proclaimed that my wife and I were going to get a washer and dryer. I was impressed when she said that it was actually going to be only one unit. That's as excited as I ever was about this product. The Haier XQG50-11 is ...
Pros: Never have to go to a laundromat again Cons: the wheels are somewhat difficult to set and breakdowns are common
UPDATE - 7/2006 BREAK DOWN BREAK DOWN BREAK DOWN. That is the way to express my feelings of this machine. In just 3 years, it broke down 4 times. First it was the heating sensor for the dryer. Then the water level sensor. Then the drain had to be ...
Pros: small amounts of detergent needed, space saver Cons: noisy, wrinkles everything, no real cold water setting, both dryer settings are too hot, shakes
I moved into an apartment with one of these six months ago and could not have been more grateful to find this brand new all-in-one machine in it. However, this machine is a big disappointment. Clothes do not come out any cleaner than they would from a ...
Pros: It is small. It can be installed under a counter. Cons: Short dryer life span.
Micro load size.
The unit HOPS across the room.
I'm renting an apartment that has a combo unit. I hate it. I can't wash an entire set of sheets at one time and I certainly can't DRY a full set of sheets at one time. The manual actually tells you to break a load into 3rds for drying... I also can't ...
Pros: No switching from washer to dryer, easy to operate Cons: Customer service through Haier is awful, they are no help when you need them
I want to start out by saying that I purchased this machine for my hair and tanning salon since I don't have a lot of space for 2 big units and don't have a vent out of the building. It was the perfect solution. It has a 11 lb wash/dry capacity. Runs on ...
Pros: Cheap (until you have to pay for repairs), compact Cons: Breaks all the time, will cost you lots in repairs
My wife and I purchased a Haier XQG50-11 Washer / Dryer from dynadirect.com in September of 2003. At first, we were reasonably happy with it. As a washer, it did a good job, although it only accepts small (11 lbs) loads. As a dryer, it was not very good. ...
Pros: The machine is efficient and easy to use making laundry day less onerous Cons: It breaks down with greater frequency than regular machines and is difficult to repair
I had enjoyed the functionality of my Washer/Dryer with the following exceptions: The first machine I bought had a funny quirk; it filled itself with water without prompting. On several occasions, I found the machine filled with water and leaking onto the ...
Pros: An unusable, un-fixable $ 800 machine has no pros. Cons: Breaks after a few months; impossible to get repaired; $ 800 into the garbage.
UPDATE - Sunday Dec. 16, 2007: Purchased this unit in May, 2006 for $ 699, plus New York city and state tax, plus delivery to apartment; total spent: over $ 800. By July, 2006 the "condensing dryer" (= dries clothes by using hot steam) was ...
Worthless purchase! Don't make the mistake of buying!!! by vadreamin ,Nov 03 '06
Pros: It's cheap Cons: It's cheap
I recently bought the Haier XQG50-11 for my new apartment because I loved the convenience of the all-in-one LG that was in my last apartment. Big mistake.
After TWO loads of laundry, it does not dry the clothes, just makes them very hot and very wet. I've called customer service (one of the longest waits you'll ever experience). The first time they gave me a list of two companies that service Haier products. I called and neither do. I called back only to be informed that some special service team would investigate and call me back in 3-5 days. Two weeks later, they still hadn't called.
Needless to say, my apartment looks a lot like tent city, with damp clothes (I've learned that drying for an hour then using the spin cycle then drying more gets them sufficiently less damp so they're not sopping wet and can air dry) hung about.
We've had repair people out 5 times in the last two years. This machine is terrible. It floods, the dryer likes to "soak" clothes occasionally (and no, it's NOT the lint trap), it SHAKES, and it sucks.
Pros: It is compact, one machine vs two and the casters seem to work ok. Cons: Does not dry well, wrinkles clothes, takes over 4 hours to do one SMALL load.
We purchased this machine because we were tired of the apartment laundry being crowded all the time and tired of going out to the other laundromats. This sounded like a perfect solution. We had to get an adapter for the faucet, and then subsequently replace that with a Home Depot repair because the quick connect kept blowing off the faucet. The time to go through one cycle is over 4 hours!!!! The clothes do get clean but the dryer is not efficient, well, it is efficient at creating steamed in wrinkles. I will spend more time doing clothes now because I have to iron EVERYTHING! Even after ironing, the clothes still showed several large wrinkles. The dryer often times has to be repeated after drying for two hours for cotton clothes. If you purchase this item, buy a very good iron...don't skimp spend over $100 and stock in a company that produces starch. My advice is do NOT buy this at all.
Pros: Ease of washing/drying, must use small loads. Cons: Service from manufacture, not the best.
My machine was purchased June 2004. Doing about 2-3 loads per week, haven't had a problem until last week 7/15/05. Ran 4 loads in a row and suddenly the heat in the dryer stopped working. The power also surged about 3 times during one cycle and I think that was what did it in. I am going to try the recommendations that (wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy) tried and go from there.
Overall I am very happy with this machine. I don't think I have had as many problems as others, as mine does not get a high volume of usage. I bought it for the water/energy and resource saving options and hope that it continues to run, even if only for the wash operation.
