Pros: Location, staff, beach, rooms, designed to appreciate setting Cons: Be prepared to pay for the fabulousness
How do you choose a place to stay in Hawaii? There are so many choices, so many different options, that it pays to pare down your choices by determining your essentials. Our essentials came down to a beachfront location and a little ...
Pros: Luxurious, rather affordable for Kohala, beautiful location, sizable rooms Cons: Location is remote, food very expensive
My wife and I just returned from 3 nights at the Hapuna Beach Prince Resort on the Kohala Coast on the Big Island (12/02). This was part of a longer trip that included a stay near Volcanoes National Park across the island.
Pros: Beautiful Island, Beautiful Hotel Cons: The rooms could use a renovation.
First Up: We used “Hawaii, The Big Island Revealed” by Andrew Doughty as our guidebook. I can’t say enough about this book. A must have! The Hotel: We stayed at the Hapuna Beach Resort for 7 nights this January, 2008. We were in room 4-711. Building ...
Pros: Secluded, Gorgeous, Relaxing Cons: Your stay has to come to an end.
I’ve stayed at the Prince five times. Each time I stay it is harder and harder to leave, and sooner between visits. The hotel has these large gorgeous rounded columns and an atmosphere that opens up to blue skies, and sparkling blue water. The Prince...
Pros: Peace and quiet in a large resort
The best beach in Hawaii
Great snorkeling
Cons: Non-existent night-life
Few and expensive restaurants
When you plan on a Hawaiian trip, you imagine yourself on a deserted island with just palm trees as your companions. Unfortunately, in reality there's plenty of other people with the same plans whom can trample your idea of paradise. Luckily, here's a ...
Pros: great service, beautiful beach, great bathrooms. Cons: generally overpriced. mediocre and very expensive food. pathetic ping pong table.
I booked 5 nights at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on the big island for my honeymoon with my beloved wife; we started out in Kauai which was more "homegrown"; after several days and nights hiking, etc. in a rain soaked paradise, we were ready to get fully ...
Pros: Understated elegance with beautiful facilities and nice perks. Cons: It's a drive to find a meal if you don't want to eat at hotel.
I got this hotel on Priceline for Easter of 2005 with a bid of $185 per room per night. When we arrived, we were floored. The hotel is beautiful - and the epitome of understated elegance. It is very quiet and peaceful. If you're looking for hot ...
Pros: Secluded, nice grounds, nice warm pool, great beach, comfortable rooms. Golf courses. Cons: Very isolated. Expensive drinks.
Me and my wife stayed at the Hapuna Prince for our Honeymoon in July of 2003. This place was great! The location is nice and secluded, but right next to it's sister property, the Mauna Kea. One thing to note is that you should make reservations in ...
Nice but careful of the price... by wolfeel_11613 ,Dec 17 '04
Pros: Nice hotel, pool, and beach. Family friendly, even for small children. Cons: Cost. Food is extremely expensive with no good alternatives.
We had a room on the top floor with a full ocean view. The room was nice but still a little over-priced for what you get. The food was outrageously priced...for example, a mediocre Mai Tai from the pool bar was $10, our simple breakfasts of oatmeal cost over $50 (for two), and dinner was well over $100. The worst part is that there are no simple alternatives since the hotel is not located close to anything and none of the rooms have kitchenettes. On the positive side, the hotel had many young families staying, and all the kids seemed quite content at any age, even toddlers. The hotel staff even set up a large screen by the pool and showed a movie for the kids on a few evenings. Even the adults enjoyed it...
Great hotel, beach, location, everything! by cindybee ,Jan 18 '06
Pros: Beautiful beach; incredible, lush landscaping; very pleasant and helpful staff; well worth the money Cons: The mattress was probably ready to be replaced. No other negatives!!
My husband and I stayed 7 nights at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel in October, 2005. We booked a special that included free breakfasts if we stayed more than 5 nights. We also requested a room upgrade and received it. We booked a premium oceanfront room and were upgraded to the best building - building 3 - and closest to the water. The desk clerk allowed us to view two types of rooms before we made our decision to move. The view from the room was fantastic. The staff were very friendly. I like the decor - it is minimalist and not overdone. The infinity pool is wonderful. Overall, it's probably the nicest vacation I've had, and I'll remember it for a long time. I highly recommend the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
