Someone Fetch tha Sheriff! - Hunter S. Thompson's Hells Angels

by teamfreak16 teamfreak16 is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Books, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Apr 26 '07
Pros: Brutal, honest look at America's premier motorcycle outlaws
Cons: A few parts are not for the faint of heart
"If I had been a citizen of Bass Lake at the time I would have gone home and loaded every gun I owned." - Hunter S. Thompson on a July 4th, 1965 Hells Angels' run to Bass Lake, California. In 1964, then-freelance writer Hunter S. Thompson accepted an ...

Hunters first (and last on these guys) book.... circa `66

by Realtime , Feb 22 '05
Pros: Hunters' first and, perhaps most objective book to date.
Cons: Not as cohesive in editorial presentation as I had hoped, originally, to see.
Wild, egregious, ruthless, uninhibited, brutal ABANDON versus unyielding, repressive, redundantly oppressive, ultimately self-serving (in the name, for the sake of: Public Safety and the attempted preservation of Justice; of course) Authoritarian ...

Part One of Thompson's Death of the American Dream

by christpunchers , Aug 09 '07
Pros: Unalienable first-hand accounting of facts, and amazing culture to consider.
Cons: Perhaps a bit boring in its pursuit of truth.
Just finished reading this book yesterday. I bought it because I felt the need to own some of legendary counter-culture figure Hunter S. Thompson's work, plus after listening to Pantera and GG Allin lately I've been interested in the tough-guy outlaw ...

Where Angels Fear to Tread

by fuche_bu Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Oct 25 '01
Pros: An intriguing account of America's underbelly.
Cons: Can be unsettling to read at times.
The 60's were a time of social protest and upheaval. Many changes both good and bad came to American society. This strange period also allowed for many innovations and changes to be brought to journalism and literature. Hunter S Thompson emerged...

An Amazing Book by a more Amazing Author
by Mik_Daddy ,Jul 22 '04
Pros: A great read about a world you probably don't live in.
Cons: It ends.
This book made me want to write a book just like it. Hells Angels even more than Fear and Loathing made me want to be a freak with a pen and an expense account. After I put this book down I wanted to pick up a sequel. The book ends in the sixties or seventies. I would love a modern day account on the Hells Angles, but I don't want it from any other author. In his own magical way Thompson brings you into the Angels twisted world of bikes, drugs, booze and sexual assault. At times you feel scared for your life and at other times you wanna party with these crazy boozed up sexual deviants.
