Pros: Quiet, fuel efficient, easily transportable, small, easy to start, and exceptionally long life. Cons: Oil changes can be a messy. Plastic housing makes it tricky to work on.
We have a unique perspective on this generator. We live "off the grid" which basically means that the power company doesn't supply electricity to us.Our home is in a dense forest so neither solar nor wind generators were an option for us. Our ...
Pros: Quiet, reliable, and easy to start. Cons: Somewhat expensive, and tend to "grow legs" and walk away.
The Honda EU2000i is yet another generator in the Honda line up. This generator features a small footprint, low noise, easy starting, true sine-wave output, high reliability, and a USDA approved spark arrestor. My first experience with the EU series ...
Pros: Quiet. Very Fuel efficient. Easy to carry. Perfect voltage and frequency regulation. Cons: A little sticker shock until you try a noisy cheap brand. Then you're hooked.
After a deafening experience with my first generator, a Coleman 1850 ( see my review ) I came to my senses and sprung for the Honda EU2000 inverter series. I use portable generators for my RV and for an annual Ham Radio competition that runs for a 24hr ...
Pros: Light weight, quiet, excellent fuel economy Cons: No Fuel shutoff, changing oil is messy, the Neutral is HOT (60 volts)
I'm sure you've read the glowing reviews of the Honda EU200i, it's a good little generator and performed well after Hurricane Wilma running a side by side refrigerator and a 5000 BTU air conditioner. Both were run in the "economy" mode and made life ...
This thing is great! Extremely quiet, portable, and powers just about anything I've thrown at it.
We're using it for backup power for a fifth wheel trailer in a remote mountain location, and to run power tools and a well pump. So far I haven't found anything it couldn't handle.
Runs an incredibly long time on one tank of gas - at least 8-10 hours. It will run any power tool I've got, including my 15amp compound miter saw.
The ability to run two in parallel for more current is a plus.
As a mobile DJ, I use this generator to power my equipment when I do outdoor parties. My setup includes a 1500 watt amp, mixer, dual CD player laptop, wireless mic, BBE Sonic Maximizer and occasionally, a 800 watt powered subwoofer. This generator runs everything no problem. It is easy to transport and runs forever on a tank of gas. My only complaint is that Honda needs to put a fuel gauge on this unit, or at least a little sight window porthole thingie. It is difficult to see how much fuel is in there because of the fuel filter screen inside the filler neck. I wind up overfilling it sometimes and with gas prices being the way they are, I have no tolerance for wasted gas. Overall, I am impressed and so are the customers who I DJ for.
Awesome quiet small generator! by waytoodeep65 ,Aug 10 '07
Pros: see below Cons: see below
This is my first generator ever, and I believe I picked the best one. I got it for using with a high-power stereo system, and it runs that without even the slightest complaint. I was curious to see what it was capable of, so I connected some of my high-amperage power tools. It kicked up for 1/2 a second when starting my 10" miter saw, and revved up for an actual cut through lumber, but the overload light never even came on, meaning that even though the saw was rated at 15 amps, and the generator is rated at 13 amps, it still wasn't really challenged by it.
In short, this little generator kicks arss.
You can easily carry it around.
It really is very quiet in eco-throttle mode.
It will run for 10-15 hours on a gallon of gas when using all but the most high-wattage devices.
The only down-side is that it is a bit stinky. You have to manage the exhaust carefully, but that would be true with any generator, I expect.
