I put an Infinity Basslink Powered Subwoofer in my 2005 Toyota Tacoma

by phungus Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Dec 29 '08
Pros: Packs a bunch, easy to configure
Cons: Might be overkill for some people
I drive a 2005 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with the Access (extended) cab. Earlier this year, the factory stereo in it crapped out, and I replaced it with a pretty decent Kenwood brand MP3/CD player. I also upgraded the speakers in the back doors. Ever ...

So Awesome, I now have a Perma-Grin!

by carey934 , Jul 01 '04
Pros: Amp and Sub built together make the unit very compact Great price!
Cons: None!!!
My stock stereo in my car died and I decided that rather than pay $250 for a new stock stereo, I'd spend $150 and get a Kenwood deck that played MP3's. Once I did, it seemed my sound quality was ruined. I lost most of my bass. So I swapped out my 6 1/2" ...

If McDonalds put speakers in happy meals, the BASSLINK would be it!

by biscuitfarmer Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Nov 04 '06
Pros: BASSLINK is relatively easy to spell
Cons: You get what you pay for... this isn't an amazing overlooked product.
I am a huge car audio enthusiast. Ever since my first car back in 1997, I have been trying to push the envelope on what my vehicles can do. My very first car, a 1995 Mustang started out with the most simplistic of sound systems, featuring a floating ...

Outstanding subwoofer

by adx200 , Mar 19 '02
Pros: Extremely tight, powerful amplifier, excellent design.
Cons: Whether you like it will depend on your musical taste.
Ok, my review should weigh pretty heavily considering what this subwoofer has to overcome to be heard. I had it installed at Circuit City after hearing it in comparison to three models of Bazooka powered subwoofers in the store and in two installations....

Great All-Around Package

by viss1 , Mar 09 '04
Pros: Price, size, ease of installation
Cons: None
I installed the Basslink into my '98 Ford Contour about a week ago. I purchased the unit for $185 from an eBay seller (why do retail outlets charge over $100 more?), and purchased a 10-gauge amp wiring kit from Crutchfield for about $25. Installation: ...

Worth the extra bucks

by bizz , Dec 14 '02
Pros: Compact Design. Clean & Clear Bass
Cons: None

Pros: great bass, all in one unit, relatively inexpensive
Cons: time consuming installation, requires a separate wiring kit

Infinity Basslink

by Carroll_B , Dec 02 '03
Pros: Great sound, small size, remote control, built-in crossover, good instruction manual.
Cons: none
I wanted a little more bass in the factory system of my S-10 extended cab pick-up. I'm in my late 50's and didn't need to be heard by the neighbors, just needed a little more low end bass. I didn't want to give up all the space behind the seats so the ...

A Great, Compact Addition to a Stock System!!!

by mimestatic , Jun 27 '04
Pros: Big bass in a small package, inexpensive, Infinity quality.

Pros: Small size, quality build, great sound output
Cons: Um... Nope!

Truck EX cab - almost too much

by mgj71 , Oct 07 '02
Pros: Compact, complete package, deep bass sound
Cons: Almost too much for a truck, hard to control output.

The speaker was a true indulgence, but it really works well. Im shocked at the deep bass from the 10" woofer. It is compact/hidden away, but that makes using controls on the box difficult. I lost very little space in my Silverado extended cab...

Cons: Only 200W, but they're cheap so get two.

Cons: Not as powerful as separates can be

by cchausse , Apr 17 '04
Pros: Easy install, remote, fairly priced, size, warm sound at most frequencies
Cons: For what it is - nothing really.
I'm comparing this to the Bazooka EL10A-HP that I bought prior to the Basslink by Infinity. The Bazooka was well...just what I paid for...inexpensive bass. And although it performed very well around 65Hz, the rest of the spectrum was messy and at high ...

Pros: easy install, no external amp required, remote control, compact sounds good for the price
Cons: -Remote is not wireless -no ground, power, remote led wires supplied

Good bass
by sooner28 ,Nov 18 '06
Pros: Good bass, not to overwhelming, can control with remote.
Cons: Power and ground mounting could be better.
I have had many systems and have installed many for friends. Having 2 children and 1 one the way I needed a more child friendly stereo. I went all around in my vehicle with infinity kappa's and the bass just wasn't there. I added the basslink and it filled out the system perfectly. I have had JL audio, Precision Power, Cerwin Vega, and Pioneer. This system may not blow your windows out, but it does give you the bass you need for your system. If you are out to impress people blocks away I would go with one of the companies I mentioned above. If you want a good quality sounding system get the basslink.

IMPRESSIVE
by dirk5027 ,Jan 23 '07
Pros: amp and sub in one unit, doesn't take much space, awesome sound
Cons: none
This product packs a huge punch, if you are looking for awesome sound, this is the way to go. It's obvious to me, many car audio enthusiasts are looking to turn heads, with car rattling bass, as opposed to actual "sound quality". Unless you are driving the empire state building, why would you need 2 12" woofers or better yet 4, give me a break, just out to get attention. This subwoofer will knock you out of your vehicle, if you want it to, but at the proper settings, it adds perfect bass to regular music, then if you like dance or rap, it'll rattle your windows. Just an all around well made product.

Big clean bass, compact package
by mbrame ,Jul 20 '06
Pros: Sound, size, remote gain control
Cons: Does not readily accept 4 gauge wire, use 8 instead
I installed the Infinity Basslink in my 2006 Kia Rio last week and I love it! I wanted a small, powered solution since I have limited trunk space and this fit the bill. Installation was a breeze, it took about 3 hours to install the Basslink, a stiffening capacitor, and wiring through the firewall and under the interior trim.

This unit sounds exactly like I expected. Tight, clean bass. What I did not expect was how much bass it provides! When testing it I had not screwed it down yet, the unit will actually walk itself across the floor! I listen mainly to hip-hop and this sub handles it very well. After a couple minutes of tuning, it sounds like an integrated part of the complete system, not overbearing.

It does shake my rearview mirror and I can feel it in my seatback, but not like a dedicated box with a separate amp.

This sub was exactly what I was looking for and I could not be happier!

basslink kicks
by pacdog ,Apr 03 '05
Pros: Crash tested!!! Solid Bass when wired right.
Cons: space as with all large amps..
I have had my basslink 10" in a truck and now it is in my car. It survived a crash in my truck which totaled the truck. the mounting could be better, however it held up thru a 30 mph crash sooo. I'm sold! if u experience clipping or distortion make sure ur running 6 awg for pwr off the battery with a 30 amp inline fuse.

Very Nice
by kisskane ,Sep 09 '03
Pros: Awesome sound, does not overheat, takes up no room, easy to install, great price.
Cons: Just not that big bang bass you hear from blocks away.
I have a Mitsubishi Montero 2002. It has a factory Infinity system in it. So that is what drew me to this sub along with the great reviews. I have to say I agree with all the other reviews. It is awesome sounding. But, if you are looking for that Hip Hop liscense plate vibrating bass, this is not it. It really gives my system just what it needed. Do not get me wrong, it gives out plenty of bass even in my big SUV. I would recommend this bass for anyone. Not sure how it would sound in the trunk, meaning a seperate compartment then where the driver and passengers would be. But sounds awesome in mine. I mostly listen to KISS, Skid Row, Disturbed, Kid Rock. Some rap. AWESOME

Internal amp burned out!
by mtbva ,Apr 04 '04
Pros: Easy connections & mounting, adjustability, thick metal speaker grills, Loud!
Cons: Internal amp burned out in 6 months!
After Problem, August 2004: The Basslink just stopped working a month or so ago, afer checking all connections, opend the box up...the internal amp circuit board burned one of the copper traces (the internal amp self descructed!!)

The same money could have built a more powerfull separate speaker/amp system!

After Install, April 2004: Just installed behind seat of a Nissan king cab pickup.
If your looking for excellent, clean sounding bass in a tight space this will amaze you!
I only paid $230 including all wires & cables from a discount on-line store, even at $350 retail it's worth every penny!
I like the fact it's an all in one unit, easy to hook-up & install, you get the bass sound of a box two or three times it's size, and has a very durable thick metal grills to protect speakers!

Great Sound
by derekwl ,May 22 '04
Pros: Clear tight bass, does not take up a lot of space.
Cons: None
Ok, any review telling you this is not powerful enough must have been written by somebody who is somewhat deaf or on a mission to become so. Unless you are one of the select individuals who wants to have a system that vibrates your license plate and have people hear you from blocks away, this will be more then enough power in your looking for tight and clear bass. I was impressed with the basslink the moment I heard it in my car (trunk loaded). I already had an Alpine amp powering the speakers so with the addition of the Basslink it really filled the bass nicely. One thing I did do about two weeks after install was to add a capacitor, which I must say made a HUGE difference, if you have more then one amp, I highly recommend you add one. I had to turn down the gain and bass boost on the basslink considerably and the bass was tighter and clearer with the capacitor. The bass response is excellent and you can tweak it to sound just right for whatever system you have. I highly recommend this product.

Great Addition to any car.
by oversteer325 ,Jun 07 '04
Pros: Tight, hard hitting bass. Oh, so small.
Cons: None so far.
I added one infinity basslink to my BMW 325is and was very surprised just how much bass this little jem put out. Due to the fact that my Bimmer is built like fort knox, I didn't expect much of the bass to make it from the trunk into the cabin. I was pleasantly surprised when I installed it that it sounded perfect inside the cabin. It was just the right level of bass I wanted. Enough to shake the rear-view mirror and enough that you could feel the bass, but it was in no way BOOMY or overpowering. It sounded like it was part of the factory system. The build quality is outstanding and so is the sound. I would recommend this to any BMW owner who wants some bass in their cars.

BassLink for BMW: Installation and Settings
by dongillis ,Jul 28 '04
Pros: Beautiful smooth Bass response. Easy installation with the available kit.
Cons: You will need the (+QR) installation kit to quickly remove BassLink from you trunk.
In a word -- AWESOME. The BassLink may be the perfect solution to upgrading BMW audio. BMW audio electronics are really OK, except they are way underpowered in the low end. Once you fill in the low end with the BassLink, you won't have to turn the volume up so much you get into audio 'clipping' (distortion). Some folks reported spending $200 for installation. You certainly don't need to get a pro to do the job -- just get the install kit (http://search.ebay.com/basslink-install_W0QQfromZR7 ) as it has all the stuff you'll need
to install. The install is easy and well documented with this kit. For balanced full-frequency, musical audio, the BassLink gain setting should be in a low range (like a quarter turn from all the way off). Unless you are trying to break glass, you won't be punching gain much more than that.
