Pros: Excellent bass and midrange. Highs follow right in line! Cons: Haven't found any yet.
Purchased at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City. I had every intention of buying a cheaper brand but heard these in the display area and, relying on the Infinity reputation, decided to get these installed.
At first I only noticed a slight difference in clarity. But, as the speakers have had a chance to break in, they're wonderful. The bass is starting to jump out at me and the midrange is very clear. I plan on getting a second pair installed in the doors.
Pros: Great sound-period. Cons: Mounting depth may be an issue in some vehicles.
I bought these speakers for my 2001 Ford Focus ZX3. I read about them on a Focus site, and found that they sounded excellent at the store.
I have them hooked up to a Pioneer P7600MP for power (no four channel amp--yet). They produce excellent bass and still preserve high clarity for the mids/highs.
I did have to 'convince' them to go into the rear of my Focus. They have larger baskets over the magnets on the rear than factory. I had to grind out about a 1/2 inch strip for them to fit. The fronts popped in with no problem.
I bought them at American-I know someone who works there so got them for cheap. I will be adding a sub, but for now these four 5x7's create great sound.
My explanation for the lower 'ease of use' rating is the work it took to install them. Many places probably would have said that you couldn't put them in; but because I did it myself I didn't have to deal with that. All other features (hookup, crossover, swivel tweeter) are easy to use.
Pros: crystal clear accurately replicated mids & highs.... Cons: when someone finds one let me know....
I love these speakers and have 4 of them in my Mazda 3s. Their powered by the Infinity Reference Amp 7540a which pushes 278 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms in bridged mode and all I can say is that they very accurately replicate all mids and highs with computer precision. Here's some more technical information for you....
