Pros: Light and small enough to fit in awkward spaces Cons: The speakers aren’t too great (I suggest using headphones)
While you may not be familiar with the Insignia brand – I sure wasn’t – do not let that stop you from adding this very nice, compact portable DVD player to your list of brands to consider. Carried exclusively at Best Buy, I decided to purchase the ...
Pros: Inexpensive, plays recorded dvd+r and has a 7 inch screen Cons: annoying hum and after a years use, it speeds up and slows down
I bought this dvd from Best Buy approximately a year ago. The price was a bet less expensive than other brands and at $129 dollars it was about twenty dollars cheaper than the next lowest price I could find for a personal dvd player. I had never ...
Pros: Inexpensive, fairly full featured DVD player that works well. Cons: Prone to failure. Full warranty only 90 days in Canada.
The insignia brand is a in-house Futureshop/Best Buy brand made in China and marketed by them. Here in Canada, these DVD portable DVD players come with a 1 year PARTS warranty, but only 90 days LABOR which is where you may get into trouble. Overall ...
Pros: Plays all DVD formats Cons: Died just after the warranty period
Bought this model because of it's ability to play DVD-/+R/RW. We have a DVD recorder on our TV and sometimes have to record a show to be able to watch later. It played all the formats well, however after the warranty was up it just stopped playing anything. We paid $129.00 for this at Best Buy and did not in any way get our money's worth out of the product. I started out with not wanting to play sometimes then eventually it just quit all together. Troubleshooting in the book is no help. Unfortunately at $129 I don't think it would be cost effective to have it repaired.
Consider this a disposable player by nascargirl ,Nov 05 '07
Pros: Easy to use and set up in the car. Cons: Wore out completely after only 23 months. Freezes up during movies.
my daughter received hers for a Christmas gift in 2005.After a year and a half it began acting up, freezing, and not letting her move past pre-views on movies. Eventually it the laser gave out and now it's useless. Was not used on a constant basis. If your buying it for a gift, shell out extra money and get a better brand.
Battery Failed just after warranty period by mtsom ,May 16 '06
Pros: Affordable, decent quality picture for the price. Cons: Battery died after 2 uses.
I used this DVD player twice (once after I got it and once just after the warranty period). When I tried to recharge the battery after the second use, it would not charge. The reps at Insignia were completely unconcerned. All they kept saying was "This product is out of warranty."
