Just as good as the "Pods"

by disneydumbo , Apr 09 '07
Pros: Great on price - nice picture quality, good sound, easy operation.
Cons: Not many accessories available - found only one case and it is not cool.....
I am so glad that I decided to go with this product!! Got just as much bang for my buck without caving to the pressure of buying one of the "pod" products...... So, at Christmas, 4 (all teenagers) of my 5 children wanted mp3 players - two insisted on ...

Pros: Small, lightweight, easy to use. Long long battery life. Perfect for Audiobook Lovers.

Before I started researching MP3 players for listening to audiobooks I had never HEARD of Insignia. But, the more I read and the more I saw, the more I wanted one. I have not been disappointed! The Insignia NS-DV2G is surprisingly easy to use and ...

Better than Expected - Great starter mp3
by nymsrandi1 ,May 07 '07
Pros: very simple interface, changeable rechargeable battery, FM radio, nonproprietary usb connect, microSD slot
Cons: figure out the toggle button, different software to load pics/vids and songs, accessories??
Desperate to kill the train commute boredom while I wait for my Samsung T9 to be repaired, I went into Best Buy and found the least expensive mp3/video player - the Insignia NS-DV2G. I was a bit weary when a product claims to offer so many features at such a low price. But after downloading a couple of songs, videos and pictures, and trying out the unit, I'm extremely pleased. The unit interface is easy, nothing too technical. It comes with a protective case and removable battery. There's an EQ bass feature, FM radio and you can sound record. Menus are straightforward, just gotta learn to use the toggle button. And the LCD screen is a nice size at approx 2.5". The only issue I had was the fact that you have to use different software to load pics, vids & music but its tolerable. Also, if I knew the player was this good I would've gotten the 4GB model. All in all, its a great little player at an affordable price. Once again, iPod gets spanked at the retail store.

Best Mp3 player I ever
by peagreenpolar ,Jan 02 '07
Pros: Video player, doesn't freeze
Cons: doesn't have the best sound
I had an Ipod Nano. It froze on me a lot this one never does. The ipod only had 1 gb this one has 2gb for the same price. This one you can put videos and play them on it, the Ipod you couldn't.

Best Mp3 player for the money
by aholl333 ,Jun 03 '07
Pros: Great screen, Sound Quality, Micro SD Slot, Two headphone jacks, comfortable size, easy navigation.
Cons: Lack of Accessories, Fingerprint magnet, not as sleek looking as other mp3 players.
The Insignia Mp3 player is a great value.

I did a lot of research prior to buying the Insignia MP3 Player. It has everything you could want, videos, photos, great sound, micro SD slot, amazing screen. and, as a plus, Two headphone jacks. Navigation using the Insignia is very easy, and very quick. The size is comfortable in ones hand. And although it is not as sleek looking as the Ipod Nano, it does everything for much less*.

There are two downsides, but they are minor: One is that there is a lack of accessories. The insignia is also a fingerprint magnet.

The Insignia is the greatest mp3 player that you can get for 75 dollars. The prices on these dropped, and now they can be found on eBay and other open-box stores for 75-100 dollars. Purchase one of these, and you wont regret it.

One of the best Mp3 player's out there
by manndark ,Jul 29 '07
Pros: EVERYTHING, sceen size & quality, battery life, sound quality, easy controls
Cons: NOTHING, Insignia now needs to make one to compete with 30Gb Zune and Ipod
This is one of the best Mp3 player's out there regardless of price. I bought it for myself as a birthday present and I was very happy. I asked the BestBuy rep which one i should buy between this one and a Zen by Creative, he said the Zen so even though I wanted the Insignia I went with recommendation, hey he works with these thing all day he should know best, WRONG!!! The Zen froze up within 2 hours of owning it and stop working. I took it back the next day and swapped it out, I LOVE THIS THING!!! The Insignia was so great, sound, picture quality is like a little HD tv, screen size it great. No other screens for the money are this big,2.2inch LCD,true the 30Gb ipod only has a 2.5inch LCD and the 30Gb zune has a 3inch LCD, but there about $250+ compared to my $89 NS-DV2G. To make a long story short BUY ONE, you won't be dissapointed.

Excellent Gift
by andy_fuentes ,Jun 14 '07
Pros: Excellent screen size, ease of use, upgradable, 2 headphone jacks for split listening, and inexpensive.
Cons: Slip case horrible, audio phones mediocre, not many accessories, and may freeze up (but rare).
This MP3 player is a great buy for anyone looking for an inexpensive MP3/Video player. The screen is a good 2.2" size and videos look crisp and clear on it. There are many features to this little guy including an FM Tuner, Audio Book capabilities, and preset/customizable equalizer setting for music playback. These are features that the iPod Nano does not include. In comparison with other flash players in its class the Insignia NS-DV2G 2GB MP3 player is above all. The dialer is not difficult to use and is not overly sensitive. It even has a hold button :). Best of all, its upgradable, consisting of one microSD slot. It's not without its faults, though. It has frozen up one a couple of times, but a quick reset and the problem is fixed. The audio phones (ear bauds) are not that great and the plastic slip cover that comes with it is horrible. It does not protect and it grafts onto the player making it hard to remove.

If price is a factor, then this little guy is the best you can get. Great features, great display, and easy use make it a great buy.

Excellent
by pjones11 ,Mar 16 '07
Pros: Good sound, excellent video. 2gb and expandable. Long battery life.
Cons: Cheesy case. Menu navigation takes some getting used to.
Good sound, very nice video playback and conversion tool. Cheesy clear plastic case mitigates fingerprints, but attracts dust. Cheap earbuds (invest in some good ones.)

Menu took a while to get. Instead of using up/down arrows to scroll through menus, use the jog dial. The menu options are actually in a circle. Using the jog dial rotates the circle, which isn't very obvious.

VERY long battery life (20+ hours) and is replaceable.

Expandable RAM using MicroSD.

Make sure you update the firmware, there were several major bug fixes.

Warning: When first hooked up to computer (via USB 2.0), McAfee found and viruses and deleted the files.

Be forewarned
by alimae56 ,Aug 27 '07
Pros: Clear picture on display screen.
Cons: Lack of durability of display screen.
We were contemplating purchasing an IPod for our 12 year old and ran across Insignia. Should have stuck with the IPod but was attracted to Insignia because of the pricing, etc. Asked salesman at Best Buy if these were durable. He assured us they were and said it would be a good buy. Even convinced us to purchase insurance. My son really enjoyed the player and we bought a second one for our daughter. However, 3 months later, the display screen stopped working for no apparent reason on both. Just a bunch of swirling colors when you power them on. We tried to get Best Buy to replace them but they said they don't cover it, and that we abused it. All my kids do is put it in their pockets--haven't dropped it or sat on it. Haven't even owned it that long. I would expect more out of these than the 3-month life (for paying Best Buy almost $300 including insurance)! We feel Best Buy totally ripped us off out of hard earned $, and are dismayed at their hardcore stance of not replacing them.

Seems to be unreliable
by sfayz ,Mar 12 '07
Pros: Lots of features for the price
Cons: The menu system is difficult to operate and get to what you want.
I'm on the second one the first one didn't work out of the box, and this time I got a some type of pressure crack in the screen. It's only been two weeks but best buy won't fix it or replace it.
