Pros: Attractive design, excellent sound, remote control Cons: Non-Detachable faceplate
The JVC KD-LX111, better known as "El Kameleon" is a great car stereo that will wow your friends. For starters, the design is very impressive. With many very bright red and one bright blue light up button and a color LCD, this thing makes for some juicy...

Pros: El Kameleon Face Plate, Powerful, Attractive, Good Sound Cons: Could Be Easily Stolen (If Found), Power Will Blow Factory Speakers
I recently accidentally cooked my Pioneer DEH-P4300 (whoops) and decided to replace it with another Pioneer, until I found that they didn't have the features I was looking for in the price range that I was looking at, until I found the JVC El Kameleon....

Didn't Get Stolen. Sounds Great.
by miguelm ,Mar 27 '04
Pros: Less likely to get stolen. No Face plate to lose. Great Sound. Cons: Hard to use while keeping your eyes on the road.
So many car stereos are so flashy that the might as well say "Steal me." I wanted a stereo that sounds good, plays CDs, and doesn't say "Steal me." I also didn't want an annoying removable face plate that's easy to lose and easy to leave at home. So I bought the Kameleon. When you turn it off, it vanishes. It looks like a plain black panel.
Then it happened. Somebody broke into my car. They stole two cases of CDs, they stole the remote control to my Kameleon, but they didn't steal the Kameleon!
I'd call it's anti-theft concept a success.
By the way, it sounds great, too. I wish the buttons were easier to tell apart without looking at it, but that's a minor complaint. I love it.

Different and Affordable
by darkness750 ,Nov 09 '03
Pros: CD Text, high power, custom eq,motorized faceplate, cool display Cons: tuner is a bit weak
As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. The sound is very clean and loaded with features. This is by far the most inexpensive of its kind.Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, and a few other brands make similar models that are much more expensive. Believe me I shopped around. I highly recommend this to someone that wants something different that will fit their budget.

BEST car stereo deck ever.
by djoneshot ,Jan 13 '08
Pros: Stealth, covert, BBE, Genius design, very smart deck. Awesome. Hard working Cons: ...MAYBE the small buttons, but overall virtually NO cons!
I am extremely disappointed that all el kameleon models are no longer in production. I have enjoyed this most excellent super stealth product nearly ever day for over 5 YEARS! My deck has finally started to act crazy and not function properly after over 5 years of great performance and foiling theives in high crime areas where I park my vehicle. I can't believe not any other companies have continued this genius design...HOWEVER i have read about a feb 2008 rerelease of a kameleon for car dvd deck. IF YOU HAPPEN to come across these little 007 undercover decks, snatch it up. You will not be unhappy if you are looking for slick undercover type deck with multiple payback features and sound design options.
