Pros: Tractor and mower performance, smoothness of cut, drivability. Cons: Poor bagger, difficult deck adjustment
We have 5 acres total. Of that, there is about 3 that is in grass. The grass is edged by lots of "ins and outs" and punctuated with trees and sprinkler heads. This is my 3rd John Deere. The other two were a 212 and a 318. WHY A JD 445? I ...
Pros: Love the durability and styling of this beast over newer 500 series that replaces it. Cons: Could use a higher quality fuel injection computer.
I purchased my 445 brand new 4 years ago (August 01). I paid $12,500 plus tax for it, opting for the smaller 48" deck as I did not have much lawn at the time. I now have an acre. I bought it for the optional 47" 2 stage snow blower that I purchased as ...
Pros: Sympathetic dealer support. Bucket. Easy to operate. Good chassis. Cons: Low quality engine. Uneven cut. Expensive.
With 2 acres of lawn to mow and needing a bucket for our small farm's various chores, it looked like the 445 would be perfect. Good reviews and a good company behind it. And the local dealer has a pretty good reputation so they have been doing all the...
Pros: Easy attachment, reliability Cons: A bit expensive
What a tractor. I have owned other makes, and by far, the statement "Nothing Runs Like A Deere" is completely true. I use my "green machine" year around. From early spring spreading fertilizer on my 3 acres of lawn, roto tilling...
Pros: After three Tractor's - Power, All wheel steering, and comfort - no more back pain! Cons: Price, can't get my wife off of it.
This is my third tractor, way above anything else for grass. Power is amazing & with all wheel Steering! I cut 2 acres of grass in 1 hour with no lumps; my first Deere was a LT166 took 5 hours on same yard with massive amount of lumps of grass left...
Pros: John Deere quality, easy to use and clean, nice ride, tight turns. Cons: Likes gas, loud deck noise when running I need to wear a headset.
Had a JD 317 for 8 years. Ran great, engine not withstanding. Original engine got too tired and I got too tired of fixing it. I never had any trouble with the tractor, just the engine. I wanted something with PS and hyd on the floor. I bought my 1996 JD 445 used with 200 hrs. last summer. Mostly just to cut my 3/4 acres of grass. I have the 54C deck with the mulching kit. The grass doesn't stand a chance. The mulcher works great, love it. To date and 50hr of use I can't say enough good about the mulching.
Pros: has guts Cons: mower deck is a little awkward to adjust
I got a 445 gas powered garden tractor a few years back mainly to power the snowblower.
Recently i needed to move an old sheep wagon out of storage and the ford major wouldn't start. The other tractors were out in the field and the pickups were gone.
I eyed that 445 and threw a chain across the hood and thought it would be miracle but lets see. That tractor pulled that wagon without a problem...i used the traction pedal once.
I have a new respect for it and needless to say its "easy life" is behind it!
Pros: Dependable and powerful enough for many tasks. Cons: Expensive implements/attachments, varying prices at dealers.
I needed something to clear snow from my 12'Wide x 275'Long driveway because I was sick of paying a guy with a truck $800 a year to dig up my lawn! I shopped around and found that this tractor (with a front blower) should do the trick. It did, and more. It mows great and runs smooth. It is fuel injected (vs. the carburated model 425). Shop around though. The local dealer had the same tractor with triple the hours and a lot of scratches and a ripped seat for $900 more than I paid by shopping online and making a 1600 mile (round trip) trip to pick it up.
Pros: Study unit, heavy duty construction, It's John Deere green Cons: Wish the hydro. hook-ups were easier to use, and get to, that's it.
Real quick, This is a great unit. I went in to look at the new X series tractors, I saw this one out by the used equipment with 150hrs on it, compared the construction of both and hands down this is a better unit. The frame is about twice as thick as the new X series. As my Deere dealer pointed out, The new ones SHOULD be just as good, The frames are designed on a computer. Well, They look thin to me. I bought the 445, Ordered the 40 loader, and the MC collector system for it. Every time I use it, I just smile as I gently bounce over the rough on my 4 link suspension seat.
