Pros: Easy to use, oversized crank, nice look, cleans up easily. Cons: Hurts like hell when you drop it on your foot.
After going through tons of different can openers, both electric and traditional, I finally found one that actually worked. The others weren't strong enough to puncture the larger cans, didn't stay in the groove when cutting, left metal slivers ...
For years I always purchased medium priced can openers, not quite the generic silver colored styles, but not the best I could find either. I really didn't think there was much difference between the medium and high priced can openers, because they all ...
Pros: Durable, worth the money Cons: None unless you don't like the large handles
Here I go with another KitchenAid product - KitchenAid Can Opener With Black Handle. KitchenAid is my favorite line of kitchen gadgets and products. The main reason - I like larger things. I like a big cell phone, not a itty bitty sleek one I ...
Pros: Durable, dependable, requires no strength to open Cons: hanging on normal sized hooks not possible
Background: Before owning this KitchenAid Can Opener, all of my can openers had been hand-me-downs from my mother. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Mom, but she picks quantity over quality every time. So it was no surprise when a metal can opener ...
Pros: Good, solid feel; even cut and a snap to use Cons: Not a one
Can openers are certainly nothing special: for years, I've used a "Swing-Away" manual can opener, believing (quite mistakenly) that it was the best available, and the things I didn't like about it, were just that much worse on every one else's units. ...
Pros: none Cons: I will think twice before i buy anything else Kitchen Aid.
I bought one of these can openers based on the fact the kitchen aid products are good.
How wrong was i, at first i thought i had a defective one as it worked the first time great and then the second time i used it the cogs went all out of alignment and wouldn't turn, i would turn the handle around and around and nothing happend , so i took it back and got another one and the same thing has happend..I cant believe it, i am very dissapointed in Kitchen Aid..
Overpriced, oversized, overated by originalroofus ,Apr 24 '05
Pros: Looks nice - impress your friends! Cons: Doesn't work! It is built for looks not performance! Bad! Bad! Bad!
I bought this can opener because I have a number of Kitchen Aid products I like.
This is the worst can opener I have ever used(handheld, electric or wall-mount)1 It skips, pinches, leaves burrs and ragged edges and binds. It is heavy, clumsy, and poorly-designed. Even the generic supermarket models are better. The handles are huge but bend easily so the cutting wheels get out of alignment.
Buy a Henkles - way better, cheaper and lighter, more ergonomic.
Pros: Styling, oversized knob. Cons: Doesn't open cans well. Slips and skips. Doesn't engage.
I thought "KitchenAid, for the way it's made." But I was terribly disappointed by this can opener. First of all, after getting it home, I noticed that it can't be put in the dishwasher or be immersed. It must be cleaned with a damp cloth.
The first time I used it, it didn't really bite into the can. The wheels turned and everything, but the can wouldn't grab on and turn. The portions of the lid that it did cut, were cut with relative ease. But there were several sections of the lid where it didn't cut through all of the way. I thought that maybe I just wasn't squeezing hard enough, so I would pay more attention the next time.
The last time I used it, I had the same experience. I made sure that I was squeezing it shut completely. It pierced the lid of the can, but just wouldn't get going around the lip of the can. And on smaller cans, it had a really hard time. The small can of tomato sauce I was trying to open slipped from the can opener and spilled onto the counter.
I, like many others, bought this because of the Kitchen Aid reputation. I was sadly mistaken. The handle turns but the can won't. It leave metal shears and and skips as it goes around. I have complained to the company as well.
Pros: Looks great, feels great in the hand. Cons: Doesn't get the lid of the can off well!!
I got this basically to match many other things in my kitchen. This is not a high quality can opener as I expected. It skips places on the top of the can or does not cut all the way through. It leaves you with dangerous sharp edges to maneuver because the top of the can is not truly off but hanging by two or three pieces. This can opener does look nice and feel nice and solid. However, function over fashion....
Bought this on the K.A. reputation, like many others, and wow, what a grand disappointment. Tried opening a 16 oz. can of something, and it slipped, skipped and the handles twisted and tweaked. VERY beautiful aesthetic and ergonomic design, but VERY poor functional design. Don't buy this thing!! Also complained to K.A.

Pros: Looks fantastic Cons: DOES NOT WORK!
I bought one of these because it was a "Kitchenaide." You know they have a really good reputation...or they did. The first one was JUNK and I threw it out and then I turned around and purchased another one (shame on me!) because I thought maybe since I got it at an outlet that it was diffective. Ummmmm no. The second one I purchased was just as horrible. I am SO MAD that I spent my hard earned money on two horrible pieces of JUNK! Oh also I purchased a kitcheaide spatula that is also a piece of JUNK! They are supposed to have a "lifetime" warranty. Who's lifetime? Where do I go to get my refund? Who do I call to complain to?
Thanks for NOTHING Kitchenaide.
