Pros: A fast read. No, wait, that's a "con" for a 400-page book! Cons: padding, cardboard characters, padding, hackneyed plot, padding, lack of continuity, padding
When my monthly issue of Consumer Reports appears in my mailbox, the first thing I do is flip it open to the inside back cover to read - and chuckle over - the regular feature they call "Selling It." Every month, CR readers submit their ...
Pros: Pace, thrill, chills and rock-em, sock-em action! Cons: Shallow and adds little in terms of character development for an ongoing series.
Pure pace! Pure dialogue! Pure hard-driving action! Pure plot! That's the good news! The bad news? London Bridges reads like a high speed jet boat ride in the very shallow end of a very large swimming pool. No depth! No character! No development! No ...
Pros: Uhm...it starts out interesting? Cons: Everything else.

Pros: page turner, thrilling, great continuation of other Alex Cross books Cons: out of place, predictable love scene
James Patterson has done it again. London Bridges hit shelves on November 8, 2004, and I was in line to get it. I have read almost all of Patterson's books, including all of his Alex Cross series. We were started with Alex Cross in Along ...
Pros: It's short Cons: Keeps you interested enough to finish it.
How can somebody write such a good book one time and such mediocre trumpery the next? C'mon James Patterson, You can do better, you wrote Kiss the Girls and Jack and Jill both great novels. Then again, you've wrote some bombs too. I won't say London ...
Pros: Awesome diabolical scheme, twists and turns Cons: Weak ending
An amendment to the point that this review reveals major plot points: it does this only for the last 30 pages or so, which are to the rest of the novel as Godfather Part III or Rocky V were to their respective sagas: poorly conceived, shameful ...
Pros: This is a fast read for those looking for some quick entertainment. Cons: Rushed and overly complicated at the end and poor character development.
I am one of the readers that was highly pleased with "The Big Bad Wolf" and had no issues with the book ending without any resolution. I have read all the books in this series and could wait for the next installment without a problem. When I started ...
Pros: Good action, interesting concept Cons: Not Patterson's usual excellence
Ok, I was expecting more fireworks than London Bridges brought hey it was Alex Cross versus the Big Bad Wolf again. It was a good time reading it, but it fell short of my expectations. The Russian mobster (The Wolf) forces the Weasel ...
Pros: You always have to love Alex Cross. Cons: London Bridges makes it difficult to remember why we love him.
London Bridges was by far the worst Alex Cross book that James Patterson has written. I was looking forward to a new Alex Cross book since I enjoyed so many in the past (Jack & Jill and Pop goes the Weasel were very good). I did not mind the shortness ...
Pros: Alex Cross is a cool character and remains so in this novel Cons: Reads more like a screenplay than a book.
As an avid reader of James Patterson I usually read his books as soon as they become available in the library. And this was no different. The good: A fast pace book. I know "page turner" is a very cliche term, but it is accurate, he seems to just ...
Pros: Dr. Cross, the Wolf is still "The Wolf." Cons: Slow moving, Capitalizing on Terrorism.
I am a huge fan of James Patterson and have read all of his books thus far. While this book still remains in the "thriller/mystery" genre, I feel that the story line including a world-wide nuclear threat and terrorists is a bit out of Patterson's reach.
Normally, I can not put down a Patterson book. I can't say that this book held the same appeal to me. But, I still give it an "okay." The writing seemed rushed and while there is an understanding that the romance between Jamilla and Dr. Cross is drifting apart, the reader just doesn't feel it. That would be the one thing to say about this book ... you just don't feel it.
I wouldn't buy this in hardback, maybe in paperback. Better yet, get it at your library.
The wrong kind of page turner by welcenbach ,Jan 26 '05
Pros: There are so few words per page that you can zip right through it. Cons: Using ordinary printing and spacing this book would be less than 200 pages.
"London Bridges" is the wrong kind of page turner. You can't wait to finish. At some point you feel like giving up, but still you hope. The hope never materializes. This is the worst Patterson book I have read. In fact it is one of the poorest pieces of fiction I have ever encountered. Was there a major deadline to get this book done? Did Patterson pull an all nighter? Save your time--don't read it. But if you must read it, don't buy it, go to the library or borrow it from some poor fool who wasted his money on it.
London Bridge(s) falling down by bayouboy ,Dec 26 '04
Pros: Absolutely NONE Cons: More than I can fit in a review.
In 3 words, this book stinks.
It is a compilation of a marketing effort with larger than normal type, blank pages or fractional pages throughout, and a story line implemented to make a buck.
This is the first, at least in my view, book by Patterson that belongs in the trash.
Each page you turns raises the question of "Why?" Why are I reading it, why was it written, and why not try something else.
Save your time and your money.
