I’ve always thought that Michelin tires were overpriced, and had these not been installed on my van, I probably would have never bought a set of Michelin’s. I’ve always known that, in general, you get what you pay for and I never buy cheap tires, but...
Pros: Exellent wet-weather handling, good dry stopping Cons: Not a performance tire
I've been buying Michelin tires for a long time, so when the old MXL's on my 1988 Camry wore out, I asked the tire dealer for good all-weather tire recommendations and then selected the Michelin Rainforce. I don't drive a performance car (I'm more...
Pros: Awesome in water Cons: Better than most/if not all on dry land also
My first rain tire was AquaTread way back when they first came out and I got NO life out of them on my 1985 Chevy Cavalier. Now after driving my friend's 1999/2000 Nissan Altima with brand new RainForce tires I can't say 1 bad thing about them. They are...
I had this tire on my Honda Civic. It did a great job of cutting through the rain and slush we get here in Utah. Noise level was quite low, and the quality of ride was first rate. Sure, they were a little pricy, but I believe you get what you pay for....
Bought a set for the wife's Jetta, after 30k miles there is
only 3/32 of tread left. These are supposed to be 60K tires.
Air pressure and rotations were maintained.
Multiple manufacturer defects by tark91 ,Aug 22 '08
Pros: Good ride, good for wet conditions Cons: Unacceptable manufacturer defects in more than one tire.
I purchased these tires for a Honda Accord. The tires (that didn't fall apart) lasted for about 45,000 miles at which time they had to be replaced because of tread wear.
However, prior to that, I had two tires that had to be completely replaced because of what turned out to be manufacturer defects. The first was a large bulge in the middle of the tread. Both my mechanic and the tire dealer said they were surprised to see such an obvious defect in that location. I figured, "Eh, this happens sometimes." But not too long after that, a second tire had the belts separate and it too had to be replaced. Major inconvenience for tires with less than 20,000 miles on them.
So now I have two new tires and two old tires. With careful rotation, we managed to make these last for another 25,000 miles, but this was nowhere near what the mileage rating for these tires. This was a very disappointing performance for these pricey tires.
The ride was fine, the traction was fine, they handled fine in wet conditions... it's just that they fell apart!
