XBox Controller - not just another Sidewinder

by yusakugo Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Dec 05 '01
Pros: Lots of buttons and sticks/pads, nice black color, excellent for some games
Cons: too large for some games, can be uncomfortable
By now, you may have been already told that the XBox controller is huge and uncomfortable. Well, that is true to some extent.

The XBox controller is jet black with a large guady XBox logo on the dead center of the controller. The controller...

Bigger Than A Buick, Smaller Than An Airplane - The Epic XBox Controller (Epic Write-Off)

by kenshin-guy , Jun 28 '02
Pros: Lovechild of GC, Ps2, and SNES controller. Everything you need in a game controller
Cons: Grooves hurt after a while, button placement may be a bit inconvenient
Lots of people have criticized the XBox for having a controller bigger than a watermelon but forget all that.

In reality, the controller is probably bigger than a Buick. People are SO quick to judge.

Anyway, I don't play much XBox...

Microsoft Xbox Controller: Big, Bad, and ... Bad

by albrtlee , Mar 24 '02
Pros: A long cord with "break-away" feature.
Cons: Unwieldy, uncomfortable, and poor button placement.
I have to admit that I was very surprised to see all the positive reviews of the Xbox controller here on epinions. The Xbox has been the subject of a lot of criticism since its release, with the bulk of it focused on its bulky controller. I understand...

An Extension Of My Body!!!

by Abraxmed , Jan 07 '04
Pros: Great analog controls, evenly spaced buttons and none are difficult to reach.
Cons: Large, can be difficult to use for people with small hands.
This is my favorite console controller ever. Some may find this hard to believe. I have heard many complaints about this controller and many are legitimate, but they don't bother me. I'll start out with the bad for a change. Too large. It is a big ...

Comparisons in Controller Land

by in-dependent , Jul 31 '02
Pros: sturdy, throwable, 9' cord
Cons: button placement leaves something to be desired
I think most people who have played more then one console can go on all day about how this controller is better than that one because of this, and that controller is better than this one because of that, the comparisons never end. Well, I can go on all...

The XBOX Controller: It's Got Substance.

by supahonda , Mar 11 '02
Pros: Great design, excellent button placement; good weight; two memory card slots.
Cons: Large XBOX logo in the center of the controller.
First of all, let me get this out there. I love this controller. I fell that everything about this controller is perfect in every way. There have been some nice controllers in the past, but this has taken all of those and turned them into one perfect...

Big and Comfy: The XBox Controller

by gorocco Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Dec 16 '01
Pros: Durable, lots of buttons and sticks
Cons: Bulky, price, may be too large for some people
Everything about the XBox seems to be about size. The console itself is huge and heavy. Its game controller is equally indulgent in the size category. But despite being the biggest controller in the history of console gaming, the XBox Controller is...

Thanks for ruining my life, Microsoft

by snikta_vanmann , Jun 03 '04
Pros: Joystick goes smoothly, the D-pad is really good too and it's sturdy
Cons: Size, button arrangement, vanity, lack of handles, individuality from all other XBox controllers
Okay, Microsoft making a game console is an okay idea, but who knows what in the heck was running through their sick minds when they thought up the design for the controller? First off, the buttons are so freaking annoying! I to say this ...

by mercedes-b , Jul 08 '02
Pros: Lots of Buttons, Durable, Long Cord With Break Away..
Cons: Price, Button Placement..

Introduction

Without a doubt the most debated feature of the Xbox entertainment system is the control pad. People have used numerous adjectives to describe this console accessory, few of which are positive. I myself hated this...

Bigger IS Better

by software2 , Mar 03 '02
Pros: Easy to use, and a great form.
Cons: Hard to use at first.
A few months back I picked up an XBox. I took it right to my house and opened it up. After a few minutes of setup I was ready to go! I chose Halo as the first game to play, and inserted it into the XBox. Then I looked at the...

Pros: Pro’s -Break away connector cords, Length of cord, Size, Overall comfort, Accuracy.
Cons: Con’s -Black and White buttons really are poorly placed.
THE CONTROLLER –
I wrote a first blush review of the Xbox controller in my review of the Xbox console. Since that time I have played for more hours than I care to admit too, and have visited my brother in law who has the Play Station 2, just to get...

Bigger is better. Sort of.

by justin_kage , May 25 '02
Pros: Long Chord Pretty X-Box Logo
Cons: Weird detachments on the chord Placement of Black and White buttons
(Well, hopefully I won't make a fool of myself again writing an X-Box hardware review..)

You ALWAYS hear people and game reviewers how bad, fat, or uncomfortable it is, and is an easy thing to crack jokes at.. A little fatter than a Dreamcast...

Size Does Matter.

by derekloge , Jul 22 '02
Pros: Great fit to your hands.
Cons: Some buttons poorly placed.
Many people complain about the xbox controller's size. Some say it's way too big, but i say they have midget hands. The Playstation controllers are way too small. The xbox controller fits to your hand perfectly. Although, younger players may have...

The XBox Controller-- too big or just right?

by jessie42 , Jan 14 '02
Pros: Nice triggers underneath, lots of buttons
Cons: Very large, some buttons hard to reach
The size of the Xbox controller has been under fire from many people who have seen or used it. The controller is BIG and it's HEAVY. A younger child will probably have a hard time using it for extended periods. However, the size is also a benefit...
