Great little package
by mixter13 ,May 20 '06
Pros: Bright picture, extremely versatile, plays DIVX, can read from usb drives/flash Cons: not high res (typical of this class of portable player), sound could be better.
I spent a lot of time researching portable dvd players before I settled on this one. The main features I was looking for were the ability to play DIVX video files, swivel screen, portability and price. The only real knock I have on the 1880 is that the screen is not high resolution - the bigger players have better screens, but they're as bulky as laptops, so I felt like it was a worthwhile tradeoff. Besides I plan to use it mostly for the kids in the backseat of the car, camping etc, so it's perfectly adequate. All in all I am very pleased.

Not a good start
by gothamxo ,Dec 25 '05
Pros: Swivel, price, card slot, nice remote Cons: Runs hot just w/ AC even when off. No case or opportunity-to-order-case, Average image.
Finally purchased a inexpensive DVD player with swivel and it arrived from Amazon with non functioning battery with rattle inside.
Emailed company on Monday ---NO RESPONSE IN 3+ WORKING DAYS
Amazon wants me to return the unit for refund at Xmas time or get ONLY 50% or so of the cost of average after market battery from this company.
By the way I still have not found this battery on the net. It has not been released
Being a great manufacturer is no short cut to being a great American brand.
Without either checking the units before they leave, packing them securely, empowering the stores that sell the product to assist the customer conveniently or just answering customer service correspondence to become a market leader may be severely challenged if this happens often?
Hopefully this was isolated.

Great all rounder let down by USB/SD card support
by hardasnails ,Nov 12 '05
Pros: Swivel Screen, Mpeg4, Multiformat, Can be made Regionfree,Plays video from sdcard & memory stick Cons: Not compatible with Lexar branded USB or SD cards.
Very pleased with this my first portable DVD player.
Has recognized Region1 & Region2, uses same hack as 1810.
This player is Divx compatible and can play video & MP3 from the SD card slot. I had problems with the USB slot. It wouldn't recognize any of my Lexar branded pen or SD Cards nor any external Hardrives. However I did get it to read a other manufacturers pen drives & SD cards.
It came with case & two sets of headphones.
It can output to TV or accept input from a video source such as a xbox playstation etc.
Must rate as one of the best all round players.
There is also a TV tuner available as an accessory.
