Pros: Works through any FM radio, three presets, charges iPod, easy to use Cons: Expensive, static is abundant
My music collection has evolved over the last few years. In 2003, to cope with an inordinately small dorm room, I ditched the CDs and stereo and digitized my entire music collection. After hours of hard work, I now have more than 5,500 songs and 30 ...
Pros: Quality materials, SUPER ERGONOMIC USE & DESIGN, looks cool Cons: Not consistently great results in different cars, only works in a car
I have owned a Monster Cable FM Transmitter for 2 years now, following are my experiences with it. In the two years I have owned a Monster Transmitter I have gone through 2 of them in 2 different cars (first one was in the car when it got ...
Pros: Easy to use, charges battery, gives you access to your music Cons: Expensive, can't deliver cd quality, can become touchy
An Ipod is almost standard issue now days. Its impossible to stop this sweeping trend for mass mobile MP3 players, and IPod is definately in the lead. But, after a rough day listening to your Ipod, you enter your car and watch its precious battery ...
Pros: Can choose what radio frequency to use Cons: The unit can't be plugged into some cars because of the abnormal butt end

I received this transmitter along with my iPod video on Christmas of 2005 and couldn't wait to try it out, the sound quality is pretty good but don't ...
Pros: The iCarTrip is easy to use, Cons: but however easy it may be, it is still an overpriced, sub-par device.
I have used the iCarPlay for one year now. I am a loyal Monster customer, being a musician and audiophile. The iCarPlay was disapointing to me. When I first saw that I had received a Monster FM transmitter, I figured the audio quality would be top ...
Pros: no installation Cons: bad sound quality, cuts channels, damages ipods
After two years of owning the Monster, and not being terribly impressed with it, I am finally giving it up. It has worked terribly in all but the most remote of locations, and it frequently cuts out of one channel of my stereo. But I just found out today ...
Pros: none Cons: died in 5 months and ruined my ipod
I bought this fm transmitter about 5 months ago and it already burned out. Not only that, but I think it had something to do with it burning out the battery on my ipod. It can't hold a charge anymore. After going on the apple website I found some reviews on this product and found that other people had the same thing happen to their ipods. Be cautious of this product.
We bought two of these for our cars after we converted our entire media library (including movies) to iTunes.
We live in Washington D.C. and drive in various areas between downtown and the Virginia suburbs. I used my in my 2001 Honda Accord with the integrated antenna in the rear windshield.
1. Static is part of life with these. Many security or in-store radio systems, particularly downtown or in shopping centers, use FM frequency and we had trouble with stronger signal over-running ours. Even in the country, we got a lot of static.
2. Sound quality is not very rich. For $90, I expected much better quality. I found myself feeling like I was on an airplane - trying to pop my ears because the sound quality was like listening to music in a styrofoam tunnel.
3. Releasing the iPod from the cable wasn't a quick and easy as I had hoped. It took a bit more squeezing and pulling than I had expected.
In the end, I returned this and got a $10 cassette adapter instead. When I have $200 to spare, I'll get the hard-wire adapter installed by the local Tweeters store.
I bought this device 6 weeks ago and have used it in Chicago, Long Island NY, Albuqurque-Santa Fe NM, and Fort Myers-Naples FL. It is simple to use and the sound of the video Ipod 30GB through the FM radio is of CD quality. I highly recommend this inexpensive accessory.
Pros: Easy Navigation, Works in most area, Not too geeky looking Cons: Problems in some part of CA(southern CA mostly)
I own Monster FM transmitter - this model for more than 2.5 years now. As the other review has mention - it does the job very well. I use this with my 20GB ipod - one of the older ones - 2nd gen I think.
I live in Chicagoland and it works fine in city as well as in suburbs. You may need to change stations as you move from city to burbs. With this FM transmitter, I have travelled
- from Chicago to Boston, NJ, NY, WV
- from San Fran to LA, San Diego, Las Vegas
- inner parts of Alaska
Over all I have passed through more than 20 states and it has always worked!
Yeah, in CA sometimes I had difficulty may be because of too many radio stations but other than that it has worked great everywhere. It's little expensive but it's worth every penny.
Pros: set memory on radio button
Good to go Cons: Is pricey.
Tried using this product without reading the instructions on use. Had much static at first. The trick is to find a radio station that is not overpowering and full of static. Duh!! Find a station that is quite and away from other powerful signals and it works great.I like how you can set the station on your radio and the unit, and the knobs on the radio control the sounds.
Pros: easy to use Cons: just wish they didn't require turning the volume on radio so high
After an unsuccessful attempt with a Griffin roadtrip unit (couldn't get decent volume level and it sounded like a tin can), purchased this unit. Plugged it into the cigarette lighter (does anyone really use those anymore?) and viola, music. Very happy with this model. Before purchasing I tried a friend's out and so had a fairly good idea before I got mine that it would work.
Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr by coryhula ,Oct 26 '05
Pros: It's got red lights like my Audi's interior lights. Uses full spectrum of FM dial. Cons: Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Turn it up. It gets louder.
I've tried to use this in a 2005 A4 with an in-dash 6-disc Bose stereo. If you can tolerate the undertone of a high-pitched whirring sound with your music, this product may be for you. It's not for me. I'd avoid the Belkin devices as well. Direct connect is the right way to do this. That's my next step.
UPDATE: I've tried other devices now and tried those devices in other cars. It appears to be Audi related. This doesn't change my mind on the direct-connect approach. Audi is coming out with a connection to their Bose Symphony system soon.
