Pros: None that I can see. Cons: Absolutely worthless.
"This is some of the worst limp-ware I've ever seen." Yep. That says it all. I got it for my RAZR V3 with T-Mobile. Plan on losing contacts, taking 5 minutes for it to move things around while your phone is unusable, phone book entries that ...
Pros: Free upgrades as software improves, internet connection through your phone, does what it's supposed to Cons: Time-consuming install, Poor recognition of duplicate entries, Calendar limitations
I decided to purchase the PhoneTools software despite reading some harsh reviews and was pleasantly surprised to find it worked quite well, but with a few limitations. Installation was time-consuming. I had to install the software and reboot and then was ...
Pros: Nothing, except a $30 lesson learned. Don't buy from BVRP, AVANQUEST, NOVA Development, & Motorola. Cons: You have to buy it again to get updates if you rebuild your system.
I was suckered into buying Motorola Mobile Phone Tools Deluxe for $29.99 because I needed to sync my RAZR with my Outlook contacts. When other people write this is the worst piece of software, they are not kidding! SAVE YOUR $30! I am a computer ...
This is the worst investment that I have ever made. I have tried over and over to get this software to sync my Razr and computer, I even lost everything in Outlook once, trying to get it to work. If you are going to use this product make sure you back up the information on your computer that you dont want to loose. The British company that produces this software is terrible when it comes to customer service, they claim I have a problem with outlook, not their software. I have never had a problem with outlook before, so why wont the software work, it must be Mobil phone tools.
I have a link between my phone and computer, and I can read the ESN, and other information from my phone, but I cant sync or anything else with this software. It just doesn't work, and this is the second time I purchased software with a Motorola phone and BVRP software sucks!!!
Pros: Way cool features for mobile users. Cons: You have to manually run the auto update from the default phone.
I don't know what the other folks are wanking about. It installed seamlessly, detected my RAZR phone just fine after I ran the auto update for the software and transfers wallpaper and even mp3 music to my phone! The sound interface is cool because you can cut a section out of the song you want to use as a ringer, save the chunk as a separate mp3 then upload it to the phone. Cool!
I agree with all the posters. Motorola should issue some free software to users of their phones. My PC recognises the phone as an external drive so I can transfer pictures etc. But the contacts and diary only work through phone tools. When I boot up it asks if I want to update. If I select yes it starts to download 13MB of updates at 1.2 KBPS and says it will take 22hrs Phone tools rarely recognises the phone and refuses to recognise the other Motorola phones we have. Its all just rubbish. I need a flip phone to save the screen from scratching. I am a builder but. Motorola changes the charger with every new phone and all their chargers use flimsy or difficult connectors. Why not use a jack like Nokia across the range. Stranded in a Hotel without a charger. reception will have a Nokia charger and loads of Motorola chargers that don't fit your phone. I make myself this promise Never Never buy a crappy Motorola and Crappy Phone tools software again
Worst POS Software Since Windows ME by martrw ,Jan 02 '08
Pros: Can uninstall eventually. Cons: None
If you want problems with your phone and your computer, get this software. From the first install screen to the last dying gasp from Registry Cleaner, this one has all the glitches. From the getgo, the update had to download another complete CDs worth of data before the installer will start. After that, it cannot identify a Motorola V3 Razr and the manual selection process barely works. And the cable doesn't work to boot. Just in case you do get it installed, you will find that you can not access all the data fields in your phone, so you can't use the keyboard to type in addresses and other useful information. Syncing is confusing when it works. There are other utilities in this package but I couldn't wait to get this crap off my computer.
Megacorp Motorola does not see fit to support its products with useful software. Keep looking for another package, don't waste your money here.
Pros: Backs up phone book and calender on a very good day. Cons: Read the body of the review.
In 30 years as a computer engineer and a prolific computer user this is some of the worst limp-ware I've ever seen. I got mine a couple of weeks ago. After two days of Driver Hell, I finally got the phone to connect to the computer. Then, it turned out that this software does nothing particularly useful. Yes, it will back up the phone book and calender. But, that's it. No transfer of ring-tones or pictures. Then, when the program exits, it takes 5 minutes to lock up the computer while it scans the disk and (apparently) makes 64MB of user profile. Then, next attempted connect, it takes another two days of Driver Hell.
Pros: None - does not function as advertised Cons: Does not function as advertised.
...at least if you have a V325. Multimedia functions disabled... Save your money & get the freeware "Send To Phone" package - you can set ringtones & wallpaper for free, without wating money on this product.
Motorola has screwed you! by sk_reviewer ,Sep 08 '05
Pros: The promise of sync with a PC Cons: Installation problems, cannot detect the phone.
This is the worst piece of software I have ever used, and a shame on Motorola.
First of all, the software failed to install on my Windows XP Service Pack 2 computer with English as the interface language. Since I understand some Spanish, I ended up installing it with a Spanish language interface. My home computer, also Windows XP SP2, had exactly the same problem. All customer care inquiries regarding this issue were never answered.
Then, frequently, the software fails to establish a connection between the PCS and the phone. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it simply cannot find the phone, not over Bluetooth, not over cable. Very frustrating.
So, you were hoping that your new Motorola phone would actually sync with a PC, huh? Well, Motorola has screwed you. Next time, buy a phone from someone else.
