Pros: Easy setup, dependable Cons: no power switch
Motorola SB4200 cable/dsl modem. I was one of the first people in my small town to get cable internet access. Not because I was so advanced, but rather that I kept hounding my cable company for the exact date the high speed service would be available. ...
Pros: Software upgradeable to DOCSIS 1.1, standby switch, USB and Ethernet, connect two computers Cons: How about USB 2.0?
I should have brought my own cable modem a long time ago. But first it's the modem standards issue, and then the @Home shut down saga. Now is the time since even Cox has a list of supported modems on their site. If they don't have that, I would...
Pros: - Reliable
- Easy to setup
- USB and Ethernet port Cons: - No "off" button
When I first signed up for cable broadband access, I didn't know much about the equipment I would need. I rented a modem from my provider. The modem they rented me, initially, was a Motorola SURFboard SB4100 (previous model). At the time, I didn't...
Pros: Easy Cons: No on/off switch. No printed docs for setup.
I did some extensive reviewing of what's out there and chose the SB4200 quite frankly because I could drive to Circuit City and pick it up.
Circuit City was even able to place an order to turn on my service while I was at the store. The...
Pros: Doesn't reset itself Cons: Disconnects you in online gaming environment unlike rca modem in same conditions
The motorola sb4220 provides a stable internet connection, but if your an avid gamer, stay away! Something about this modem causes you to be disconnected in a gaming environment. We tested the same connection and same computer, one time using an RCA...
Pros: Awesome Connection, Easy install to both Ethernet and USB, Never had a problem Cons: none
I got this modem when my family signed up for cable Internet. The cable guy came right over and installed it. It worked awesome. Then for some unknown reason our ethernet card blew. So, the cable people came back over and put a new one in. It worked for another year and then yet again the ethernet card blew. I got tired of having to replace the ethernet card so I just hooked it up via USB. That has also worked like a charm. Moral of the story: This thing will work no matter what you hook it up to!
Pros: Easy installation, reliability... Cons: None so far...
I have had my Motorola Surfboard SB4200 cable modem for almost 2.5 years. I have never had a problem with it. The only dropouts that I have had are attributable to Mediacom's broadband service. This modem has been a solid performer for me.
Pros: Great reliability, and very well built. Cons: Slow boot time.
I have had this modem for 2 years now and it has served me well. It has never failed on me, and never died on me. I got it when I signed up for high speed Comcast cable. It is leased for as long as I have the cable line. My only complaint was that it takes a while to boot up. It takes about 45 seconds. My other cable modem boots up in 2. Other than that this cable modem really leads the pack.
