Pros: Intuitive, easy to install, easy to use, easy to get organized/stay organized. Cons:Blank stare
I want to be upfront and tell you that I have issues. I have a TON of paper - receipts, bills, insurance claims (think about all of my medical stuff!!!). It just piles up. I'm always thinking that at the beginning of every year, I'm going to ...
Pros: Size: Brilliant Only one wire: Usb OCR is accurate but makes the machine very S-L-O-W Cons: You grow old as the software prcess the scan. The software is not all that intuitive.
For this review, I am simply cutting and pasting the letter I wrote to Neatco after I ried this scanner for a few days:After a search on the internet for a quick review of the Neat Receipts ADF scanner, I bought one at Costco on Sunday, hoping ...
Pros: Nice idea and concept. Cons: Two units wound up being defective. Store informs of high return rates.
Well, I certainly wish I could write a nice review for the Neat Receipts scanner, but I can't. WHAT IT IS: At barely around 12 inches long and only a few inches wide, the Neat Receipts scanner seems wonderful for those who wish to have a ...
Pros: Great for organizing receipts ... love the ability to split a receipt into multiple categories. Cons: Calibration paper does not work and almost caused us to return the unit.
Background Info: My husband and I saw this product at Costco and decided to research it before we spent the $150 on it. We thought it sounded great, but would it really work? We visited their website and it looked like it would be the savior of our ...
Pros: I like having the ability to split receipt expenses among several categories. Cons: I would like to have more flexibilty with the build-in reports.
I first saw the Neat Receipts Scanalizer hardware and software product at the Seattle airport being demonstrated by a sales rep. It looked real easy to use. I saw a variety of receipts and full-size pages being scanned in and filed automatically into ...
Pros: Good Sorting & Extraction Cons: Very slow boot-up and execution
As a hopeless receipt piler, I am always screwed at tax time, and berated and charged heavily by my attorney. I have tried programs like PaperPort and OmniPage in the past, but they never did a good job of pulling information off the documents- and they ...
Pros: It's small and the software works with outlook. Cons: The support for Vista is silly.
I first purchased the Neat Receipt Scanner when I first started my business and also was keeping track of medical receipts for my mother for whom Id taken over financial responsibilities. I found that I could scan receipts and that the software ...
Pros: good idea Cons: VERY SLOW, glitchy, poor OCR, poor export, costly updates, fail to fix bugs, poor upgrades
I've been told for months that NeatReceipts update ($20 cost to existing customers for version 3.0) would have better exporting to Quicken. Specifically I'm disappointed that MEMO data (you know - that line that has been on checks for 100 years now) does ...
Pros: Scanner is tiny, I carry it in my bag and use it wherever, whenever. Cons: May become addicted and scan in every piece of paper you own!!
I bought neat receipts for my Mac last year on their version 1 platform. They have continually improved the software, which was already quite good when I bought it. They just released NeatWorks 2.0 for the Mac and I downloaded it, again they have added ...
More trouble than its worth by nuff-already ,May 14 '08
Pros: It's lightweight and neat looking and doesn't require a separate power supply Cons: Doesn't live up to its promise
The product looks well made, but the software is very lacking. It can't scan a whole sheet to copy and keep it straight, there is no real image adjustment for scanned documents, although there is some for receipts. It is slower than a Prius in the fast lane. It doesn't work with other scanning software, so you're stuck with what they give you. My company wants me to fax receipts for expense reimbursement and although the Neat Receipts can keep track of the receipts, the quality of what I can print is abysmal (I doubt the IRS would accept any of these scans in case of an audit). It simply isn't worth the money it costs and doesn't live up to the company promises. My advice is to buy a real scanner if that is what you need and manually enter your expenses in something like Quicken.
It's 2008 and:
#1. they barely have Mac support (just a beta).
#2. they barely have vista support.
#3. NO ZILCH, ZERO win xp 64 bit, or vista 64 bit support.
Since Im running a 64 bit OS I can't use it as anything but a plain scanner which defeats the whole purpose. Therefore Its a big thumbs down.
