Pros: Forgiving, softer feel than the G2 irons Cons: Limited ability to shape shots
Ping followed up their best selling G2 irons with the G5 iron set. They tweaked the sole design and tuning port to maintain the high launch and forgiveness while making some subtle adjustments to the design. I was in Scottsdale going through the Ping ...
Pros: Long and good feel Cons: Not good looking, cannot work the ball, hit it too high
I have always been a big fan of Ping irons, but I have also not spent too much time with their game improvement irons in a number of years. These are the clubs that are made with the average to below average player in mind. Every company has a line in ...
Pros: They do exactly what they're supposed to. Cons: A bit pricey.
Let me preface this review with this....I'm a lousy golfer. I've been playing for 7 months with a cheap set of Wilson ProStaffs, and I usually shoot around a 115. I'm not going to try to tell anyone what clubs to buy, or how to play the game because ...
Pros: Easy to hit-Ping clubs retain their VALUE on resale Cons: Still Expensive and Ping sets the price, no discounting.
I recently went to a Demo Days with approx. 12 different major club makers. I tried the various clubs and none seem to have the look and feel of the G5s. I have play with the Ping Eye 2 (Stiff Graphite) clubs for almost 20 years. All of the time trying ...
Pros: Straight ball flight, gets the ball in the air, good distance Cons: No workability
First, a confession: I'm not a very good golfer. My swing is too steep, I'm not very flexible, and as a consequence, I slice the crap out of the ball. So, everything in my bag is based on maximum forgiveness. I've been playing with Ping I3 O-Size ...
Pros: Clean look, well designed, solid feel, confident shots from these clubs Cons: The original grips (can be fixed by getting different grips on them)
I have owned my Ping G5 irons black dot with a regular steel shaft for about a little over two years now. Before this set, I owned Cleveland Tour Action irons and before my Cleveland irons I owned my first set of clubs from Acquity. I play very often ...
Pros: Forgiveness and Confidence Cons: not over-sized
Because of my uncle I have always been into PING golf clubs. I usually update my irons every two to three years, but I think I am going to stick with these for much longer because they have been the best irons I have ever played with. The only other iron ...
Pros: Great feel, good ball spin, great customer service. Cons: Expensive, looks, high ball flight.
I have golfed Ping eye2's since I bought them new (surprised to find out that I can trade them in for nearly 1/4 of what I paid for them---I will keep them in the garage---they may become collector items--they are that good). I have been having friends ...
Pros: Nice feel, forgiving, & straight Cons: Hard to shape shots
I played with a set of Wal-mart clubs for years and finally decided to up grade to a new set. I spent lots of time researching and hitting with different brands. I like the custom fitting of the Ping brand. I have smaller hands so it really helped with getting the custom smaller grips.
I had real problems with slicing. These clubs are so forgiving that my shots are generally able to be played.
The only trouble I have had (if you even call it trouble) is soon after I purchased the clubs I started going to a golf professional for lessons. He changed my grip and in turn my swing changed some. This threw off the custom fit of the clubs and I began to spray shots all over the place. I have changed my grip back to my original and my precision has returned.
These are the best feeling clubs I have put in my hands. I find my self obsessing over my next opportunity to play.
For people who need to have a straight forgiving set of irons, I highly recommend them.
