Pros: excellent tracking, stable, lightweight, speed, great for surfing Cons: bad maneuverability, no cargo space, sits too low in the water
The Rrrapido is the best surfing kayak on the market today. It is also one of the most stable and has the absolute best tracking of any other kayak. My family bought one last year and we have thoroughly enjoyed riding waves on it in the surf.
Pros: Light. Very maneuverable, turns on a dime. Tracks well. Self-bailing. Cons: Wet ride. Doesn't come with backrest/sling.
Bought the Rrrapido to use in surf too big for my sea kayak. Have used it for 1 month now. When used with thigh straps (comes with boat) and backrest/backsling, you can wear this kayak just like a closed cockpit kayak. That means you can hip-flick, turn on a dime, ride big waves like you're riding a brahma bull, surf or paddle straight ahead in calm water. Great boat! Will use it lots come summer 2005. Unfortunately, Ocean Kayak has ceased making this model.
