by popsrocks popsrocks is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Restaurants & Gourmet, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Oct 19 '03
Pros: Well located, good food, historic
Cons: can be a bit noisy
Washington DC, like that of New York, has a wonderful mix if the old and the new in dining experiences. In New York a favorite old place is the downtown Fraunces Tavern where George Washington ate and even gave his famous farewell address. The ...

New Night at the Old Ebbitt

by gungian Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Aug 07 '01
Pros: Good food, pleasant decor, fine service.
Cons: The noise in the bars and main dining room would make conversation difficult.
Some “out-of-towners” made an overnight stop in DC early last week. Their visit was unplanned so I had to come up with a dinner and drinks venue on short notice. The Old Ebbitt Grill fit the bill nicely.

The Old Ebbitt Grill is...

by knotheadusc Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 06 '04
Pros: Delicious food, great service, convenient hours, surprisingly reasonable prices.
Cons: Lots of noise!
My husband and a co-worker of his scored four tickets to see Jesus Christ Superstar last night at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC. We had some time before the show and we were all hungry, so we decided to have dinner at the Old Ebbitt Grill, ...

Old Ebbitt Grill Washington DC

by gregyadz , Dec 06 '02
Pros: Excellent food & service, reasonably priced, unique atmosphere, FREE Valet parking
Cons: Can be busy - make reservations!
The Old Ebbitt Grill - operated by the Clyde's restaurant group - is arguably the quintessential DC dining experience. In simple terms, the food, service and atmosphere are what one would expect from an establishment strategically placed next to the ...

Good for others, Not so good for me

by diver90 , Oct 11 '04
Pros: Great ambience (in a old-fashioned, noisy kind of way) Good seafood appetizers
Cons: Reservations are suggested times Spotty service / attention to detail
In DC on business, I had a Sunday night off alone to enjoy dinner. I did a little checking online and asked the hotel concierge what they would recommend and The Old Ebbitt Grill got good reviews all the way around. The Old Ebbitt is advertised as the ...

The Old Ebbitt Grill

by JohnnieRico , Mar 22 '00
Pros: ambiance, overall setting, steaks, location
Cons: can be a long wait
I have lived in the suburbs outside of Washington, D.C. for my entire life. In that time, I have frequented many of the great restaurants in the city. The Old Ebbitt Grill is among the top restaurants in a city that has hundreds of excellent places to...

A Great Brunch!

by amaster , Mar 10 '00
Pros: Decor
Cons: Not enough hot fudge!
I was looking for some place to go for Sunday brunch in DC. Unfortunately, most of the places I found were about $50 per person for a champagne brunch. Since I did not bring dressy clothes with me, I needed some place more casual. Then I found in a...

Yum Yum Yum!!

by gabrielspeach , Nov 21 '00
Pros: great service, excellent food, fun place to have dinner or just go to for a few drinks, and it's gorgeous!
Cons: there aren't any!
Old Ebbitt Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in DC for SO many reasons!

First, it is very aesthetically pleasing. The lighting is low in the evening, there are nice flowers and decorations, and the dark oak finish is very nice.

D.C. can do much better!

by Phineas , Apr 04 '00
Pros: You can leave whenever you want
Cons: Food, atmosphere, service are horrible...did I mention its expensive?
For a fairly cosmopolitan city, normally bustling with youth and lobbyist's dollars, you would think D.C. would demand high savior-faire from its dining establishments. I too heard the rumors about OEG. Capitol gang hang out - old boy's club - great food...

Great Atmosphere, Great Food

by flouswa , Apr 22 '00
Pros: good food, great atmosphere
Cons: very busy in the evenings--not for everyone
We ended up at the Old Ebbitt Grill on the recommendation of a friend. We had our breakfast there--and liked the food so much that we made reservations for dinner that night.

The breakfast selection was good and the serving portions were...

Great food, great selections

by nancyd1313 , Jul 15 '00
Pros: Appetizers, Salads, and Sandwiches are constant
Cons: The main entrees and cheeses change daily, so you never know what your choices will be
I used to work across the street from the Old Ebbitt, it quickly became my favorite place to eat lunch. If you don't have much time for lunch, I recommend eating at the bar, it's quicker. Also, once the (very friendly) bartenders learns your...

Club Congress - Over-rated!

by modelcar , Apr 03 '00
Pros: Very DC
Cons: purposely pretentious
I guess I'll be this first to knock this one down a notch! Having heard about the OEG from everyone, the wife and I were prepared for a feast. Instead, we were left wondering what's the buzz.

And did I mention that it's a hip institution in...

Washington Dining with DC Charm

by krystlerb , Oct 21 '03
Pros: Great atmosphere
Cons: Just OK service; a little pricey
Working in DC this summer, I made OEG one of my favorite weekend eateries. Yes, Old Ebbitt Grill can be slightly pretentious, but that's ok. It's located in a district that thrives on it, and you can't visit DC without experiencing that aspect of DC l ...

Pros: Food, service, consistency

The Old Ebbitt Grill has long been a staple of downtown Washington, DC. It is right next to the Treasury Building underneath the National Press Club. It is an excellent place to power lunch, and an equally enjoyable place to have a nice sit down dinner ...
