A show with every opening!

by tennis_player Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jan 27 '07
Pros: Simple, small, lightweight, intuitive to use
Cons: Leaves sharp edged rim on the opened can
OK, folks, I know you've seen this on the TV promos and you're curious about it, right? It sounds too good, right? Well, Thrifty Drug carries a lot of these items that are supposed to be available only on TV, so you can forget the disclaimer on the TV ...

This Darned Thing Actually Works!!

by marindavid , Mar 11 '07
Pros: Portable, small and works exactly as advertised. What more could you ask for?
Cons: None that I have discovered.
Like most of us, I have fallen victim to the phenomenon of impulse buying - on line, in a store, or over the phone after seeing a compelling TV infomercial. More often than not, these purchases wind up either being returned (if they seem worth the time ...

Very cool can opener

by clpurser , Apr 15 '07
Pros: Easier than the manual kind and takes up less space than an electric opener.
Cons: Tricky to use at first and difficult to open battery compartment.
My mother raved about this can opener so I decided to get one of my own. After all, my electric can opener was broken and my manual one killed my wrists. I found one on sale at Walgreens for $19.99. A bit pricey for a can opener, but if my mother ...

As easy as it gets

by lordplayer , Dec 04 '07
Pros: Ease of use and affordable.
Cons: none
The One Touch Can Opener is retail for $19.99. I bought mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond using their 20% off coupons about 4 months ago. Let me say this on a side note: Never, ever buy anything from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Linens’N Things without a ...

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT

by bartonfamily , Apr 02 '09
Pros: Price:  Only $20 (but you get what you pay for.)
Cons: Cons:  Short battery life and all the problems that ensue as a result!
I am stopping my lunch cooking to write this review because I am so mad and need to do this for therapy.  I purchased the One Touch at Bed, Bath & Beyond after reading good reviews.  I liked it okay - it runs slowly - but that's no big ...

This is an absolute piece of garbage!

by gswoody , Sep 19 '07
Pros: Small design, handy idea.
Cons: Too expensive and does not work. Gets stuck often and leaves sharp edges.
I bought this item about a year ago as an early "Christmas gift" to myself. The first time I used it, it got stuck on a can. It has done this every time since and it is virtually impossible to get it off. Like other reviewers have said, it cuts the ...

Save Your Money & Time.

by author1 , May 25 '07
Pros: Doesn't take up countertop space.
Cons: Doesn't work period.
One Touch Can Opener At first when I saw the commercials I thought cool, but what's the catch? I needed a new can opener and counter-top space is limited. I liked the idea of not busting my knuckles on the manual type. So I ordered my first One ...

Don't believe everything you see on TV
by dumbled0re ,Mar 04 '07
Pros: Superficially attractive shape.
Cons: Doesn't work, due to multiple defects in the design.
I tried it on five medium-sized cans. It failed completely on two of them, and the results were suboptimal on the others.

When it fails, the unit stays attached to the partially-opened can. This situation is difficult to deal with.

The unit does not work at all on large cans. The physical shape of the unit is inconsistent with the radius of large cans.

It claims to leave "no sharp edges". That's not true. In fact it cuts below the lip of the lid, such that there are no sharp edges on the lid ... but it leaves a sharp edge on the can itself! But wait, there's more: the can is weakened by the removal of the lip, so now the can may be squishy and hard to handle.

(In contrast, note that the good type of "no sharp edges" can openers leave part of the lip on the can.)

The motor seemed to labor unduly, even when cutting very thin cans. This can't be blamed on the batteries; fresh name-brand batteries were used.

I returned the unit.

Save your money for something else that might actually work
by str8_shooter ,Feb 24 '07
Pros: It has to work before it can have any.
Cons: Weak unit. Eats batteries. Not worth your time or money.
I am very disgusted with this opener. It has never opened the first can. The first batteries I put in the thing didn't go but about 1/3 of the way around the can before the motor slowly ground to a halt. I thought it might be the batteries and I put in another new set. No luck. This thing is headed for the trash can.

I was so excited after the first can, then that was it
by spotmefive ,Mar 20 '07
Pros: Small and doesn't take counter space
Cons: Doesn't work on all can types, breaks easily
The first can had no problems. It was nice and small and fit in my drawer easily off the counter. After that, I found cans it did not work with at ALL, and on a lot of cans the lids would get stuck... then after one month of use, it quit working all together, even with new batteries. I still created sharp edges on the cans, so it certainly wasn't any safer then a manual opener. I paid $20 for it at our store, and regretted it every since.

Not A Good Product
by nanci2539 ,Mar 12 '07
Pros: Other than small design, there isn't anything else
Cons: Operational, doesn't work.
I purchased the One Touch at the local Linens and Things. The first can I opened was a standard soup type can. It took forever to complete the cycle.

The opener stopped working half way around the second can. I thought it was the batteries (even though I put in two new batteries); so I tried to pry the half open lid from the opener and can. I don't know what magic I used but the opener finally released the lid.

In went two new batteries. I tried it again; as mentioned, it takes forever for the opener to complete it's cycle however, when the lid was detached from the can, the opener would not detach from the lid and kept going around in circles. I tossed the opener and half opened can in the trash out of frustration!

Seemed like a good thing
by story22 ,Jun 26 '07
Pros: It looks cool
Cons: It doesn't work!
It worked for a couple of months, but as noted by other users, it did not remove the lid very well, and left a sharp edge.
Now, it does not work at all. I tried new batteries, but it still didn't work. I tried to call the customer service number that is on their site, but it just rings. I guess mine will go into the trash too.

This thing is a health risk!
by snowybird ,Oct 10 '07
Pros: None
Cons: Leaves slivers of metal in the food, can lid gets stuck, leaves sharp edges
Not only did this can opener not work on the very first can I used it on (the lid got stuck on the opener), the can opener cuts thin little slivers of metal which I had to pick out of the food! I can't imagine if I had eaten one of those metal slivers. It also leaves super-sharp edges on the can. I packed it back up (with the can lid still stuck on it) and am taking it back to the store.

Mediocre can opener.
by leskataus ,Oct 22 '07
Pros: Small size.
Cons: Doesn't have much strength, can leave metal shavings inside can, fairly pricey.
This little can opener seems great in theory but in practice, it's only so-so. It's not that easy to put on the can. Each time I have used it, it's taken me several tries to get the opener on the can correctly. The worst part about it is the performance. The device sounds like it is straining and won't be able to finish the job. It also stops about halfway around the can and needs to be re-started. Sometimes, it needs to be re-started several times before it finishes getting the top off. What's worse is that this can opener is a battery hog. I've had to replace them at least three times in the few months I've had the can opener and I don't use it that much. It's also rather pricey for the type of device it is. It cost about $18 and the quality of construction is chintzy. It's made out of mostly cheap plastic. I don't recommend getting one unless you can pick it up for cheap at a discount store or a yard sale. That way, you're not as likely to feel ripped off when this can opener stops working for good.
