PUR Pitcher Plus - Convenient, Effective Water Filtration

by amyk49 amyk49 is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Home and Garden, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Sep 11 '02
Pros: Makes great tasting water, filter gauge, nice design
Cons: Can be slow if water is really bad, filter replacements a little spendy
When we moved into our home a couple years ago, one of the first things we noticed was the nasty, brown well water coming out of the taps. Eewww!

We learned later that our well wasn't cased all the way down, and chunks of dirt would...

If the Brain is 70% Water, Does Using This Filter Give Me A Clean Mind??

by trustedun , Aug 20 '01
Pros: Cheaper than bottled water, produces great tasting water, fits on the refrigerator door.
Cons: Somewhat fragile, slow gravity-fed system might not be for everyone. Doesn’t remove all heavy metals.
Growing up in a semi-rural area outside of Portland, for years we pulled our water from an aquifer at a depth of 650 feet (think Space Needle then add another 50.) As such, our water was just right. For those who haven’t experienced good well water, I...

Great service, Good taste, not so great reliability

by TekDemon , Jan 27 '02
Pros: PUR customer service is GREAT. Water tastes great, generally love it.
Cons: Pitcher might have reliability issues, arrived broken. Pain to install new ones with soak time.
I bought a PUR Plus pitcher off of ebay that was supposed to be new. Well that went sour as the pitcher arrived broken! The handle area was smashed in and the seller insisted she had checked the pitcher before shipping it and blamed me for not buying...

No more "fishy" water!

by cslaughter1 , Jun 01 '00
Pros: removes bad odor, taste, lead, etc; easy to use
Cons: pitcher not durable
The water in my area has a fish-smelling odor and lake water taste. YUCK!! Since I'm living in a house that I plan on selling in a few years, I didn't want to bother installing a whole house filtration system in it so instead I purchased a Pur Pitcher...

Slow But Sure

by vice , Jul 10 '00
Pros: Taste.
Cons: Can be really slow if the water's really bad.
At the house my wife and I rent here in West Seattle, it's a slow drip with the PUR Pitcher Plus, but compared to the Brita, it's far better in quality. One only need taste the difference.

First of all, to give you an idea of how bad the...

Pur Beats Brita

by newtownbeans Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jul 11 '00
Pros: Cleaner water; easier to use; more attractive
Cons: Harder to find
I used the Brita water filter for many years, until I found the Pur filter system. It is similar to the Brita, but with many more advantages:

1. The filtered water from the Pur tastes much cleaner and purer than the water from the Brita.

A new blue top makes it better???

by gordell Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Sep 27 '00
Pros: My water tastes a little bit better.
Cons: It costs money, and I wonder what actual benefit I am obtaining.
So PUR decided to change the color of plastic in their water filter. Wow, I can already taste the difference. Yes, it is true, the perceived color of the water does make it better!

The fact remains, that it cost me less to purchase the...

Excellent College Accessory

by jtytell , Dec 05 '99
Pros: Great tasting water / very little effort required
Cons: May not fit in convenient places--refrigerator door.
The PUR Plus water filtration pitcher is extremely easy to use and more than makes up for its low cost. It also comes packaged with one PUR Plus water filter to start with. The best feature of the PUR Plus water pitcher is that it filters water...

A Mind At Ease

by meryltseng , Jun 05 '00
Pros: Removes harmful bacteria
Cons: Somewhat expensive
I had several reasons for buying the Pur water filter. For one thing, the water in my area has a terrible taste. I work for a soda manufacturer, and have picked up a lot of information when I visit my plant. I learned just how unhealthy the water is in...

PUR plus is Awesome!
It Cleans and purifies your water, removing all the nasty things that get into tap. The pitcher itself is durable and attractive enough. The filter hold a half-gallon of filtered water, about a days worth of water for one...

by nunu99 , Jan 21 '00
Pros: Clean tasting water
Cons: Don't hold a lot of water at one time
I have well water where I live and I hate it. I was always buying water, which many other people out there know that can get pretty costly. Well one day my husband and I where in Cosco's and we walked by a sales man for the PUR Picture Plus.

Blows Brita Away !!

by joe_security , Jan 25 '00
Pros: Great tasting water. Filter change gauge. Slim profile
Cons: Filters are a little pricey.
I've had my PUR Pitcher Plus for about six months now. I used to have a Brita Pitcher. This PUR brand blows the Brita away.

The main reason why I like the PUR so much is because the filter has a gauge on it that tells you when to change it....
