Pros: Price, picture quality, performance, fast operation, features, looks, solid feel Cons: Remote could be better designed
The Panasonic DVD-RP56 is truly amazing because it is one of the cheapest progressive-scan DVD players available, yet its picture quality rivals DVD players that cost several times more. Picture Quality The players that use ...
Pros: Does everything it says it will do. Cons: NONE
I was born 40 years too soon! The technology of today is so exciting! But I must admit that it is starting to get away from me. If I'm not on the cutting edge of things, I'm unhappy. Now I have friends my age, or even younger [so many ARE younger....
Have you been thinking of buying a Sony DVP-NS700 progressive-scan DVD player? Would you like to save yourself eighty bucks? Here's an easy way to do it: buy a Panasonic DVD-RP56 instead of the Sony. The new DVD-RP56 matches or...
Pros: Progressive Scan, great picture quality, MP3/CD-R/CD-RW/VCD, 16:9 aspect ratio, affordable Cons: Standard features only, may not play future DVD-R/DVD-RW formats, cheap remote
INTRODUCTION
After I got my HDTV I needed a progressive scan DVD player. I heard so much about how a progressive scan DVD player is an absolute necessity for HDTVs. I already have an old Sony DVD player but I wanted to see what all the...
Pros: Features to price ratio very high Cons: none noted
As of the time of this writing, this is a current model. I purchased it a Circuit City for $220.00.
I have been using it for about 5 months, with no problems, no skipping or sound difficulties. Most of my DVDs are purchased used, and not always in...
Pros: Great picture, great sound, versatile and cheap Cons: none.
I have found this player to be a great DVD player with all the versatility that people have come to expect from the more recent players. I am using the S-video output to a Sony television, so I can't comment on the Progressive scan ability (although I've...
Pros: Fantastic picture.
Logical layout. Cons: Remote a bit awkward.
CD playback only "fair".
I have been using this unit since last July, and have not had a single problem. On the contrary, I am thrilled with every aspect. We are using the RP-56 with a 32" JVC tv set, and the picture is just breathtaking. My wife and I watch 2-3 movies a week,...
Pros: Excellent picture, excellent value Cons: Fussy controls
For an entry-level unit, the Panasonic RP56 is a great value. It plays a host of different formats such as CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and VCDs. The picture quality is unbelievably clear and crisp thanks to Progressive Scan and the sound is also crystal clear and...
This is a great DVD player for the Money. It has all the features that you want and does not cost 300 dollars. Plenty of hook ups for tv and surround sound. It plays any format of movies and music you throw at it. The feature I really like is the...
Pros: Progressive scan. Don't know if it makes a difference but I like this player. Cons: Takes a short while learning the lay-out of the remote control.
I don't have any other dvd players to compare this one to, but this machine offers a great picture at a great price. Bought it online at etronics. Quick shipping. Around $200.00 U.S. with shipping.
Pros: Makes an good paperweight Cons: Cheap plastic transport gears
My RP56 broke 3 times in less than the 1 year I have owned it. The problem is tray mechanism will jam when ejecting due to cheap plastic gears and bad design. The local repair center fixed the first time at 5 months old for no charge. Parts are good...
Pros: Great audio, incredible digital pictures, easy to use Cons: I want to rent too many DVDs!!!
I do not know enough about the technical aspects of DVD players but I have read many reviews here and on audioreview.com to know that, technically, this is about the best DVD player for the money. I wondered how important the progressive scan was but...
Pros: MP3-CD support and inexpensive for the progressive feature Cons: no aspect ratio control, remote is not really intuitive
I was attracted to this model particularly because of the Panasonic reputation - I have always been more than satisfied with their televisions, and VCR's. The progressive playback and the MP3-CD support were additional benefits, and the low price was...
Pros: superb picture quality, terrific audio, just like being at the movies, easy to use. Cons: No coax output, had to buy converter for coax.
I enjoy this dvd player for its functionality and easy of use. It doesnt take up much space, what my wife enjoys and if Im not home it is so simple to use my wife doesnt have any problems using it. She is always skeptical about other electronics around...
Pros: Features, picture quality, sound Cons: Some of the menu features are a bit confusing.
Bought this player used off eBay for $19...works as if new, not one single problem! Got it for a back-up player, but have switched out one of my Denon's to use this one. It has features you don't find on players today. I've read a few negative reviews for this, but either they got a bad one or I lucked out and got a good one. Would definitely buy another though!
Pros: Low Cost, Good Picture Quality Cons: Unreliable, Short Life, Remote poorly designed
Purchased RP56 about 3 years ago for $120. It has operated w/o issue until today. Got the H02 error like everyone else. The player was subjected to moderate use (2 DVDs per week average)so, I was expecting it to run a few more years. I will avoid Panasonic DVD players. I think LG is their parent company, so I will be cautious with that brand as well. There are many reviews at Amazon which relate similar experiences to mine.
I bought this for its... by bingo_dt3001 ,Nov 06 '02
I bought this for its looks and performance, with its fair price you cant go wrong with this one,its progressive scan colors comes alive, and with a dialogue enhancer vocal sounds are clearer plus a subwoofer output that packs a punch, its a steal for its price.
