Pros: NOTHING! Cons: Extremely expensive, does not work

How I found Proactive
My friend first introduced me to Proactive last summer. She had problem skin almost all of her life and she was trying to prepare for her wedding and thought she'd give Proactive a try. It cleared up her blemishes almost...
Pros: when it works, it works wonders Cons: bleaches EVERYTHING, short shelf life

Pros: The toner has a pleasant scent. Cons: It just didn't work!
I purchased Proactive after watching an infomercial late one night. I have combination skin and was begining to show signs of acne. I had never had any acne problems and thought that Proactive would save me from an embarrassing trip to the...
Pros: It is an effective product Cons: Dries the skin
I've only been using ProActiv for about a month and a half and I'm still trying to find the regimen that works best for me.
I don't have extremely bad acne problems but I have had it all my life. I finally decided to DO something about it and since...
Pros: Results somewhat noticeable within one month. Cons: Some irritation possible. Expensive shipping costs.
Like many TV viewers with acne "issues", I too was smitten with the infomercials on Proactive. I ordered my first package almost two years ago after considerable internal debate with my own ego and pocketbook. I decided to try it out and see if the TV...
Pros: Cleared up my moderate acne AND my residual "picking scars" in about two months... Cons: Try it yourself; nothing works for everyone. Expensive to maintain. Must use ALL THREE products.
It's the only thing I've ever found that actually works...the claims are true! If you have moderate to severe acne (heck even if the little ones annoy you), you owe it to yourself to try this product. I was skeptical of any product sold on TV in the...
Pros: There were no pros in my experience Cons: You cannot use this product if you have an allergy to benzoyl peroxide.

Pros: My skin has never felt better! Cons: Its a little pricey, but worth it!
I absolutely love the way my skin feels after using Proactive. I have had problem skin most of my life. I was always really jealous of my friends' skin, because theirs always seemed so flawless. I thought it was because I wore makeup, and some of them...
Pros: It lives up to the promise Cons: Admitting I gave into the infomericial!
So, I did it. I admit it. I was up late, and there was nothing on TV, and I gave in and watched an infomercial. Not only did I watch it, but I was completely enthralled in it. I watched Judith Light tell me again and again that MY face could be...

Pros: Non-greasy; rinses easily; effective Cons: Unscented still has unpleasant odor; expensive;

Love it, Love it , Love it! by chadsboy69 ,Feb 09 '04
Pros: Clear Skin Cons: none
This is by far the best face wash I have ever used. Proactiv is my holy grail for skin care. It is so gentle and the little microbeads help cleanse and exfoliate your skin cell, I shave before a shower and I get no irritation what so ever. A++++++++
I've Tried A Lot Of Treatments...Then I Tried Proactive by angelost ,Jun 26 '05
Pros: It seems to be working. Cons: The price and can be a bit abrasive especially when your face starts to peel.
I've been battling acne, blackheads and whiteheads since I was a teen. Now, I'm in my 30's and I still have breakouts from time to time. If you're in your teens it's understandable if you have breakouts, but when you're my age you start to think there may be something seriously wrong with you.
I've tried different products and even went to a dermatologist for treatments. None worked.
Then I decided to buy the Proactive System, I've only been using it for a month and I've experienced great results.
The first treatment in the system is the Renewing Cleanser. It has tiny beads to help exfoliate your skin. I personally use it twice a day, one in the morning and then before going to bed. Just squeeze enough amount on your fingertips and massage it all over your face. When you rinse off you can instantly feel the difference.
Right now my blemishes are not as noticeable as it was before. Of course, as the infomercial says, you have to use the whole system to achieve better results, which is exactly what I'm doing.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Proactive will continue to live up to its promise.
I swear by this product--but it's not for everyone! by kimmytx ,Jun 12 '06
Pros: My face has been acne free for three years! Cons: The product can bleach towels or other fabrics.
I have been using Proactiv for about three years now. As a teenager, I never had really bad acne, but around my mid-20's I started having the worst acne. I tried EVERYTHING. A friend recommended Proactiv and I laughed--I thought it had to be a joke.
Three years later, my skin is clear and I rarely have breakouts. When I do have a breakout, it is because I am running low on cleanser and am trying to stretch it until I get my next bottle.
I have found that I don't need to use the full three steps everyday. I use my own face lotion most of the week and use the Proactiv toner and lotion once or twice a week.
Also--for those who don't want to buy the full package (three pieces), I have found that many shopping malls have kiosks set up to sell Proactiv products. I can purchase a bottle of cleanser separately whenever I need it. It runs about the same--around $17 a bottle. You can also find it on Ebay!
When it works, it REALLY works! by webpinion ,Dec 01 '06
Pros: Works well for most people, quick results, awesome cleanser, a little goes a long way Cons: Doesn't work for everyone, but you'll know right away (2-3 days, tops)
This is one of those love-it or hate-it products. I love it because it works for me. I've used it for 4 years, and only purchased it because a friend of mine with terrible acne suddenly looked awesome and I asked her what she was using. I had seen the infomercials, and just thought it was typical marketing hype. Not true in my case. Please take the reviews with a grain of salt... For some people, it doesn't work at all; for others, it's great. You won't know until you try it. I have sensitive skin and only used the cleanser daily in the shower, and the repair lotion every few nights. Otherwise, my cheeks would start to get a tad red, like a sunburn. The toner isn't really necessary. FYI, you can get tailored follow-up shipments (like 2 cleansers and a repair lotion, instead of getting a toner). My supply lasts 4-6 months because I need so little of it. Literally just a few drops. I also recommend stopping use of it for a few weeks and then resuming, because my skin gets used to it. I also like their moisturizer with sunscreen.

Pros: None Cons: It made my acne WORSE!
Seriously this is the worst product I have ever used on my skin. I have acne prone, oily skin. I get a variety of types of acne, the small little pimples all the way to the big cystic pimples. All are very painful. On top of having bad skin I have sensitive skin. I tried this product about 6 months ago praying for some relief, what I got was a nightmare instead. This cleanser felt like sandpaper against my skin! It talks about how it's so gentle and made for the most sensitive skin, well that is clearly not true. My skin broke out worse than ever! I wouldn't recommend anyone every buy this product.
I wasn't looking for more acne by shoebox13 ,Jan 16 '04
Pros: At least I got my money back Cons: Made acne worse, expensive, takes up a lot of time
I have always had oily skin and occasional breakouts. After starting college and living in the dorms, I noticed that my friends and I started to break out more frequently. I decided to try Proactive because it was expensive and there are so many good reviews of it. My acne breakouts used to be just a few zits spread out over my face. After using Proactive, I started to break out in places on my face that I never had before, and there were clusters of mini zits all of the time. I used the product for about 2 months and it never got better. I would recommend trying the product because I know it has worked for a lot of people, but PLEASE return it within the money back time frame if you are not seeing results.
NON-ACTIV IS THE BETTER NAME FOR IT by sablecafenyc ,Feb 20 '04
Pros: Zilch! Cons: One of the worst skincare products ever manufactured.
This product completely sucks. Both my brother and I who suffer from moderate acne, decided to give into the infomercial and give proactiv a try. We figured, what we had to lose after trying so many other products. I'll tell you what we had too lose: how about all that money for those three little bottles and self confidence, because this product made our skin worse. It irritated mines to the point that I still have the irritation marks on my skin after using this product a couple years back. Yeah, they talk a good and convincing game in the infomercial, but it's all a hoax!
Pros: Somewhat less acne, less oil throughout the day Cons: BLEACHED MY TOWELS!! Plus dry patches, redness, didn't clear blackheads.
I am currently using Proactive and have been for about 6 months, but I am not 100% satisfied with it. I am searching for a better product, one that doesn't dry my skin, make my face red and blotchy, and doesn't leave dry patches along my t-zone. I feel that the side effects are not worth the small difference I have noticed in my acne. It is better than before I started using Proactive, but not so much better that I'll continue.
Pros: deep cleans, exfoliates, fights zits!! Cons: small tube, have to buy online or over the phone.
living in the south tends to make you have tanned skin. but what comes with that is thickened, peeling skin. i used to use just foaming face washes, such as neutrogena or biore'. but they just didn't clean very well. and they did not get rid of acne. so then i switched to benzoyl peroxide cleansers, like oxy and clean and clear. however, they didn't foam very well and it felt like a thick lotion on my skin. i would get out of the hot shower and towel off my face and there'd be peeling skin everywhere. i could literally scrape it off with a cotton ball and toner. this took way too much time and required way too many products.
LUCKILY, i found proactive solution renewing cleanser. it has the zit-fighting benzoyl peroxide and it has the buffing beads to slough off that nasty dead skin. (the stuff that causes pimples!) my skin feels clean and fresh after i use it. the buffing beads are actually strong enough to do some serious cleaning without irriating my skin.
Best on Oily or Combination Skin by amp_espi_di ,Aug 29 '06
Pros: Cleanses skin leaving it refreshed. Works well with Step 2 and Step 3. Cons: Doesn't take make-up off well.
Hits the wallet pretty hard.
I believe this product works best on oily/combination skin types like mine. It does a good job of cleansing the oil and dirt off of my face and the massaging crystals/grit feel fine to me. I don't recommend it as a make-up remover because I still find make-up on the cotton ball after using the Step 2 toner. Instead, cleanse your face with a mild soap to get the make-up off and then use the Proactiv system. And really do use it 2 times a day or you may not see results for three or four weeks.
Pros: The bottles aren't obnoxiously colored like other more common popular brands. Cons: Wish the bottles were larger. I'd also like to be able to buy at stores.
In my late 20's I started getting acne...talk about a late bloomer?! I tried as many different products as I could get my hands on from clearasil to old fashioned witch hazel. After seeing infomercials about proactive I decided to try the whole set. Within a week I noticed a change in texture and my skin began to heal. Thanks to proactive I dont feel that my skin looks like a pizza anymore :) WELL worth the price!
omg! i broke out so much using this product!!!!! it made me break out more and if you have skin that is combination and you have acne every place on your face it wont work! trust me!
Pros: Good smell, very gentle Cons: Doesn't work for everyone, didn't reduce the amount of oil in my skin
I think it's great that ProActive works for so many people (usually teens). But I tried the product not once, but twice in the past 7 years of my 20s. It smelled good and lightened up the acne a bit, but I was far from clear. I think it works more on early in life acne cases, but for those of us with adult acne I don't think it's quite as easy.
I think the biggest thing to realize when you use this product is that it is not going to work for everyone. And if you're not getting results after a few months, I would cancel instead of wasting money. If it doesn't work it just doesn't work.
Pros: decrese on oily skin, silky soft skin Cons: didnt cure pimples , i actualy got some while using it
of course when i got pro active i was sooo ecxited , mine actualy came 1 day late but maby not since i orderd around 9 , but anyways while using pro active for about 2 weeks now, all i have noticed is less oily skin, i have gotten about 2 -3 new pimples while using it, which i usualy get while using nothing,.. i love the way it makes my skin feel though , silky. i really thought proactiv was going to make my skin realy clear, almost perfect, the bottle says to use it for 3 weeks to see noticeable results , i wont be expecting loss of pimples
my skin isnt as bad as sum , pimple around my nose and between my eye brows , not red, not that noticable but when i got this HUGE zit under my nose ring ( got is once while using proactiv) it was VERY noticable but lukily got it during christmas holidays and a weekend so no one saw it
so in sum, i woodnt waste my money on proactive ,well no $50 , i wood go as high as $15
